In 1893, architect Victor Horta put the finishing touches to Tassel House, the founding work of the Art Nouveau movement in Brussels. The impressive modernity of its façade and its sumptuous interiors - all in stained glass, mosaics and wrought iron - have marked the history of architecture. 130 years later, Brussels plans to take advantage of this anniversary to celebrate Art Nouveau in all its diversity and stake its claim as the capital of this international artistic movement.

Guided tours of the Van Eetvelde Office and House
The Squares district is home to a gem: the van Eetvelde House! Built by Victor Horta in 1895 and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this extraordinary site is now open to the public. Both the façade and the interior of the house reflect the boldness and inventiveness of the architect. It’s impossible not to marvel at the majestic dome that tops the stairwell and the meticulous workmanship of the omnipresent iron. In 1899 and 1901, Horta successively designed two extensions that show the evolution of his style. Guided tours will be organised throughout the year to discover this pearl of Brussels Art Nouveau.
