Quatuor Tana’s curiosity for music of the last century is unfathomable. They do not shy away from putting the most challenging pieces on the stand. Today, they will play Leoš Janácek’s stunning String Quartet No.?2, in which the composer magisterially manages to translate turbulent feelings of love into a melancholic, modernist style. A similar ferocity can be found in Ligeti’s String Quartet No.?1, a masterpiece in which the angular rhythms clearly allude to his greatest source of inspiration: Béla Bartók. Quatuor Tana closes with Boesman’s String Quartet No.?2, in which he creates a dialogue between Baroque and a range of other styles.
