This unique tradition dating back to the 13th century requires a thorough knowledge of the vast repertoire of epic poetry and stories passed down orally for generations. The aim of the “Winds of the Aral Sea” project is to keep alive and renew the epic tradition of this region. From an early age, Bakhsi Azada Qarlibaeva was interested in music. Although still young, she is already recognized as a "Bakhshi" and has a large repertoire of oral epics from the region, which she recites with delicacy and personal interpretation. Having won numerous awards, she is one of the few artists recognized in the region for her work on Karakalpak culture and her international performances. Gumisay Berdikhanova is one of only two musicians from Karakalpakstan to play the four-string ghirjek. She is a shogird (personal student) of master musician Ghairatdin Otemuratov. She studied at the State Art Institute of Uzbekistan and participated in numerous projects on Central Asia at the international level. They will deliver to us the epics of yesteryear, transmitted from generation to generation, from master to student, in a personal and contemporary style.
