Discover the treasure trove of the Dukes of Burgundy. At the end of the Middle Ages these cultured patrons established a unique and fascinating collection of manuscripts: the Library of the Dukes of Burgundy. Many of these masterpieces have survived the ravages of time and of history. Today, they can be admired at the KBR museum. During the introduction at the museum, we will find the answers to the following questions. How to make a magic miniature in a medieval manuscript? What does parchment looks like? Are all illuminated miniatures small? Is the gold real? Why did some colouring pigments cost a fortune? Afterwards, we will get to work with quill and ink. We’ll also discover how much fun it is to make paint from pigment powder and acacia gum and learn how paint a coat of arms or a detail from a manuscript just like medieval miniaturists did.
