The sun is shining and the terraces are calling you to enjoy an aperitif. But which ones are the best?

Good news for those who love sunny aperitifs, Brussels has no shortage of places to relax with a beer in hand or sip colourful cocktails under a huge parasol.
Do you like to watch passers-by over a drink, play a game of cards and listen to the laughter around you? If so, then these addresses are definitely worth a visit!

Tip: check out the information on the opening conditions and possible reservation of your favourite terrace.

Café Belga

The best way to describe Café Belga on place Flagey in Ixelles? Legendary! This is a marvellous spot to have a drink! This popular café next to the Ixelles ponds has been fitted out in a magnificent Art Deco interior that matches the former radio station building it is housed in.

Here you can enjoy lunch, brunch or a drink, while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and a place in the sun. Indeed, its terrace is crowded as soon as the sun pops up. The icing on the cake: it's the ideal place to watch passers-by!

Café Walvis

A pleasant café on the corner of the street, with a nice terrace where many Dutch-speaking Brusseleirs feel at home. Come and have breakfast or brunch in the morning, try the daily special at lunchtime or enjoy a hamburger with golden chips and a cold Brussels beer from the trendy neighbours across the street: Brussels Beer Project.

On weekends, the establishment is a favourite spot for young families to have brunch. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, because their hearty brunches are a real treat. Long live cappuccinos and honeyed pancakes!

Cipiace

This pleasant Italian canteen is one of Saint-Gilles’ gems. At Cipiace you can have brunch, a meal, a good glass of wine or a cocktail. With two Italian women at the helm, you can be sure that the espresso, pastas, bruschettas and focaccias are prepared to the highest standards.

A relaxed atmosphere reigns in this establishment with colourful art on the walls. When the weather is fine, you can sit on the terrace. "Cipiace" means "we like it" in Italian; a name that suits them well!

Le Dillens

Minted crockery, natural wine, garlands hanging above the terrace... Located just a stone's throw from the Parvis de Saint-Gilles, Le Dillens is the place to be for a long spring or summer evening!  Even if you only come here to have a drink on the terrace, their menu is very difficult to resist.

Everything is homemade, seasonal and local. So, whether you're looking for an evening out with friends or a relaxed romantic moment, this little neighbourhood bistro will undoubtedly win you over. The little extra touch (which is actually a huge plus): the chef is eager to use products from local artisans, such as butcher’s shop Segers or pastry shop Ginkgo.

Python

If you like a good craft beer, we advise you to check out Python‘s terrace! When the sun is shining, this Schaerbeek gem is perfect for your aperitifs and pre-parties in the neighbourhood, thanks to its wide selection of Belgian and international beers. Good to know: it is possible to buy your favourite beers to take home.

Chez Richard

Located in the Sablon district, Chez Richard embodies the friendly spirit of the Brussels bistrot!

Revamped in 2018 by a crack quartet, it is as popular at lunch as it is at cocktail hour. It must be said that everything is good, fresh and accessible. On the menu you’ll find classics such as fricandelle with Richard sauce or shrimp croquettes, but also discoveries such as aubergine mozzarella or fried squid with lemon confit. All this can be enjoyed on a terrace on one of Brussels’ most beautiful squares.
