Get the Queer Destinations label with visit.brussels

visit.brussels is committed to promoting and encouraging diversity and inclusiveness in the hospitality and tourism sector.

The Brussels-Capital Region has funded and offers a unique certification programme developed by Queer Destinations that enables businesses in the Brussels-Capital Region to meet the specific needs of LGBTQIA+ travellers. By becoming a Queer Destinations Committed partner, your establishment will contribute to making Brussels one of the most LGBTQIA+-friendly destinations in Europe.

Why become a Queer Destinations Committed partner?

As a Queer Destinations Committed partner, your establishment can:

  • Guarantee inclusiveness: labelling enables the LGBTQIA+ public to be sure that your establishment offers a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

  • Attract a growing audience: LGBTQIA+ travellers represent a significant and growing share of global tourism, and Brussels is already a destination of choice for this audience...

  • Receive international recognition: by obtaining the Queer Destinations Committed distinction, your establishment will be recognised worldwide as a benchmark for diversity and inclusion in the tourism sector.

Certification process

The certification process is designed to be simple but rigorous. Here are the steps:

  • 1. Online training: your staff will have access to an online training platform called Hospitality Meets Diversity, including video tutorials, case studies and quizzes to better understand the needs of the LGBTQIA+ public.

  • 2. Involvement of the whole team: all employees must take part in the training to ensure an inclusive and seamless experience for all customers.

  • 3. Queer Destinations Committed Distinction: once the training has been completed, your establishment will receive the Queer Destinations Committed Distinction, underlining your commitment to inclusiveness.

Certification benefits

  • Visibility: certified establishments are highlighted on the Queer Destinations platforms and on visit.brussels' LGBTQIA+ webpages, increasing their visibility among LGBTQIA+ travellers from all over the world.

  • Promotional support: gain access to marketing materials and get support communicating your certification to potential customers.

  • Continuing education: up-to-date training resources to keep your team up to date with the latest trends in LGBTQIA+ tourism.

Who is eligible to apply?

All partners in the hospitality and tourism sector - including hotels, attractions and cultural venues - are encouraged to apply. Whether you are a large hotel chain or a small family-run business, inclusivity is key to making everyone feel welcome in Brussels.
