Grab a taxi and get around the city

Although public transport is the most convenient way of travelling around Brussels, it's sometimes easier to take a taxi. Too much luggage, in a rush or just don't fancy sitting on a crowded bus or metro? Here's everything you need to know about Brussels' taxi companies.

Taxi fares :

  • the price per km (1,8 € or 2,70 € depending on whether the journey is inside or outside the 19 districts of Brussels);
  • fixed charge: 2,40 € (4,40 € at night) ;
  • the waiting time: 30,00 € per hour; certain companies charge reduced fares for journeys to the airport.

Charges are displayed on the meter (service included). It’s your choice whether you want to leave a tip, but they’re always well received. The average fare from the city centre to the airport is €40,00. Some taxi companies offer special rates.

Please note:  The meter should be lit up at the start of your journey. You will receive a printed receipt when you reach your destination. Only taxis which bear the Brussels Region official symbol are authorised to pick you up (unless you have booked the taxi).
