Sustainability
Brussels is asserting itself as a sustainable European capital by uniting green spaces, the circular economy and soft mobility. visit.brussels plays a key role in this transition by raising awareness among tourism stakeholders and promoting responsible practices to improve the visitor experience while reducing its environmental impact.
The actions carried out by visit.brussels in 2025 made it possible to make significant progress towards the objective of a more sustainable tourism sector: 70 establishments were awarded the Green Key label, and 21 accommodations were awarded the Bike Friendly label. visit.brussels has also actively supported the sector through awareness-raising actions, to participate in the strengthening and structuring of Brussels’ sustainable offer.
Finally, visit.brussels has actively participated in the promotion of soft mobility (promotion of the node network, Bike Friendly accommodation and the EuroVelo 5 route).
Thanks to these initiatives, Brussels is positioning itself as a model eco-friendly destination, combining attractiveness and environmental commitment.
Diversity
Like its sustainability goals, diversity – including accessibility for all and inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people – is an integral part of visit.brussels’ values. The commitment to accessible and inclusive tourism, aimed at guaranteeing an optimal welcome for all, including people with disabilities, is one of the core values strongly championed by visit.brussels.
In 2025, visit.brussels continued its strategic initiatives aimed at improving the accessibility of tourist infrastructure and events, while raising awareness among the sector's stakeholders of the importance of this approach: 54 certified partners (including: 26 museums, 18 venues, 7 accommodations and 3 cultural venues) currently hold the "Access-i" label.
The support provided by visit.brussels for this certification not only makes it possible to visibly increase the number of accessible tourist places in Brussels but also to increase the attractiveness of the destination, by testifying to the reality of Brussels: a sustainable capital, respectful of its inhabitants and suitable for all visitors.
