For Samba Touré, it was Ali Farka Touré, a key figure in transforming traditional Malian music into the globally celebrated desert blues. The Malian musician Samba Touré's electric guitar style remains deeply indebted to that of his older compatriot, and he continues to honour the legend - who died in 2006 - to this day. The circle was completed when he was able to tour with Ali Farka in the late 1990s. Samba Touré is making his debut at Bozar. For this new edition, Théo from Calligrafferz brings together a live band especially for the night. After a first live set, the stage will gradually open up and turn into a real jam: from 10:30 PM, MCs and musicians can jump in, freestyle, bring their own lyrics and build the music together live.
No pre-selected MCs this time, no prepared cypher. The mic is open and the night will take shape in the moment.
Douma Dynamic will be the host MC, guiding the jam and keeping the energy moving between the band, the MCs and the crowd.

Le vendredi 16 octobre, le Festival Saint Jazz investit le Sounds of Brussels pour une soirée placée sous le signe du funk, de la soul et du groove.
Après avoir fait vibrer les scènes belges il y a une quinzaine d'années, Wonderland se reforme spécialement pour le Saint Jazz. Une occasion unique de retrouver Colin Debruyne (batterie, chant), Cédric Raymond (basse), Matthieu Vandenabeel (claviers, chant) et Jérôme Vandenbril (guitare).
Chacun a un parcours musical riche, nourri par de nombreux projets, mais quand ces quatre-là se retrouvent dans Wonderland, la magie opère. une complicité, une alchimie et un plaisir de jouer ensemble qui donnent à ce groupe son caractère unique.

With singer Rachael Price, bassist Bridget Kearney, drummer Mike Calabrese, keyboardist Akie Bermiss and guitarist James Cornelison, they form a close-knit five-piece band. Together they create music that can be both energetic and festive as well as intimate and introspective. Their live performances are known for their powerful dynamics and the warm connection they build with their audience.In 2024, they released their most recent album, Good Together, produced by Grammy winner Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr., among others) and recorded in Tennessee. The album explores themes such as love, joy and self-care, and sounds particularly sincere and authentic thanks to the personal experiences of the band members. A highlight is the dreamy closing track Set Sail (Prometheus & Eros), a duet between Rachael Price and Akie Bermiss that beautifully underscores the close bond within the group and invites listeners to continue seeking love and connection despite life's challenges.

Marlene Kuntz are icons of Italian alternative rock. Their 1996 album Il Vile, jagged guitars, light and shadow, poetic lyrics, remains their defining legacy, ranked among Rolling Stone Italia’s 100 greatest Italian albums. Thirty years on, the band revives it live with the tour Marlene Kuntz suona Il Vile: a collective ritual reigniting its flame for old fans and new listeners alike.
Marlene Kuntz are one of the most influential names in Italian alternative rock. Released on April 26, 1996, Il Vile remains the album that defined their sound and their legacy — jagged, distorted guitars, melodies suspended between shadow and light, and lyrics that fell like stones while rising like visions. Ranked among Rolling Stone Italia's 100 greatest Italian albums of all time, the record transformed unease and fragility into a new language, where pain became beauty and anguish became collective song.
Thirty years later, that urgency hasn't faded. To mark the anniversary, the band brings the album back to life on stage with the tour "Marlene Kuntz suona Il Vile," a journey through the record track by track across some of Italy's finest clubs — a collective ritual that reignites its original flame for a new generation of listeners, while honoring the fans who never stopped recognizing themselves in its notes.

"I've always dreamed of making an album where I could bring together artists I deeply admire, curating voices, energies, and sensibilities that have inspired me,” says Brussels-born producer and multidisciplinary artist Shungu of his acclaimed 2025 record, Faith in the Unknown.
Together with flatspot __• he has created an eponymous film extending its universe into visual form. Tonight he presents that collective and cosmic voyage with a live scoring, accompanied on stage by Ruqqiyah and Wonky Logic.
Expanding that dialogue between what we know and what we don't, Shungu invited worldwide wanderer NEXCYIA and faraway local Chima Isaaro to complete the lineup.
These artists know from experience that in the spaces where trust, risk, and vulnerability intersect, something entirely new can emerge. Something that invites us to stop and smell the stars together.

NEXCYIA
NEXCYIA is the solo project of Adam Dove, a Paris-born, Berlin based American sound artist and sound designer. His work might be described as outsider ambient, blending underground experimental music with sound design, textural soundscapes, and sound mangling techniques. Moving through shifting samples, moods and emotional registers, he explores themes of otherness and belonging. Through dense layering and continuous audio manipulation, he creates ever-evolving pieces that draw listeners into a sonic journey, eschewing the over-visited constraints of a tempo grid.
NEXCYIA has performed and exhibited work at major venues, contemporary art spaces, and festivals across the US, UK and Europe, including the Barbican Centre, ICA, Café OTO and much more. He has established a strong presence in the ambient music scene, with features in Fact Magazine, The Wire, and Crack Magazine, with appearances on Resident Advisor, NTS and BBC Radio. Label releases can be found on Good Morning Tapes, Haunter Records, Hivern Discs, 29Speedway, Paralaxe Editions, Takuroku and more, with a collection of self-releases on Bandcamp and Nina.

It's clear that Lisbon-based DJ Chima Isaaro (FKA Chimahiro) has been doing the work. Lighting up the basements of Brussels, the dance halls of Milan, and renowned spaces like Panorama Bar or Doka Amsterdam, the seasoned digger and selector is rightly becoming recognized for her uplifting, surprising, and always generous sets. Well-known for effortlessly melodic sonic journeys that weave through the time-spaces of techno, house, disco, soul, batida, jazz, and more, every reminder of dance music’s Black origins is a call for the people to let loose and have fun. Her mix series Nyce & Slo has long been a favorite for lovers and yearners, while her more jacked-up dance mixes for Boiler Room and NTS or at Sonar and Waking Life, have won her devotees internationally. Chima Isaaro sustains that expansive energy with a universal invitation: you can come if you can dance.

Maybe Brussels’ most enigmatic music prophet Shungu is forever in transformation. Under the name Senga, he is an accomplished producer and beatmaker who has worked with the likes of Dreamcastmoe, Quelle Chris en Fly Anakin, and knows how to elevate dance floors into sacred spaces through tantalizing MPC-driven live sessions of Detroit-infused house.
Under his own name, Shungu has quietly carved out a unique place in the subterranean music scene, blending jazz-infused sampling with cosmic grooves, bridging the worlds of hip-hop, jazz, psych-rock, and house with the intellectual curiosity and playful creativity of a tireless sound architect. In 2025 Shungu released his highly anticipated album, Faith in the Unknown, on the legendary Lex Records, with a surefire roster of collaborators including Pink Siifu, Liv.e, and Fatima,to name but a few.
His latest alias dj Echotree and the eponymous label/platform are dedicated to the more introspective, legacy-oriented and interdisciplinary side of his artistic practice. Considering the impressive series of mixtapes, albums, radio shows and live gigs to his name, the only constant for this next chapter might be that you’ll be using your mind, your memory and most of all your heart to experience it to the fullest.

As it does every year, the Compositrix collective showcases four female composers from different musical backgrounds. Two work in the world of classical music, one in jazz and one in the field of songwriting as a singer-songwriter.
Over the years, this stage has unveiled artists such as Nue, Mervie, Natasha Vew, Cornelia Zambila, Mona Mio, Juliette Recasens and Giulia Barbero.
This year, the four selected composers are Anne de Boysson, Laurence Cousseau, Hélène Cambier and Johana Leroy. We can’t wait to introduce you to these wonderful artists!

He is a founding member des iconic bands of the Hungarian alternative music scene. On October 17, the evening at the Hungarian House will begin with a conversation. Then, at a certain point, music will take over from words.
Mihály Víg is a composer, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and poet. He is a founding member of Balaton and Trabant, two iconic bands of the Hungarian alternative music scene. For decades, he has collaborated with filmmaker Béla Tarr, composing scores for world-renowned films such as "Damnation", "Sátántangó", and "The Man from London" - all directed by Tarr and based on novels by László Krasznahorkai, the Hungarian writer who won last year's Nobel Prize in Literature. Víg also plays a leading role in "Sátántangó". On October 17, the evening at the Hungarian House will begin with a conversation: Lajos Rajczy will speak with Mihály Víg about cinema, music, the creative process, and the past decades. Merysse Acoustic Duo brings together the expressive voice of Italian singer-songwriter Merysse and the acoustic guitar of Michele Bertasi. Original songs and Italian melodies meet in an intimate musical experience shaped by emotion, vocal nuances and contemporary Italian pop.
Merysse Acoustic Duo brings the voice of Italian singer-songwriter Merysse together with the acoustic guitar of Michele Bertasi in an intimate live performance that puts emotion, interpretation and the beauty of Italian songwriting at its heart.
Active as a musical duo since 2017, Merysse and Michele combine original compositions with selected Italian songs, creating a repertoire that moves through contemporary Italian pop, singer-songwriter music and melodic sounds. Rather than simply reproducing familiar songs, they give each performance their own sensitivity, with arrangements built around the natural connection between voice and guitar.
Merysse’s voice is the defining feature of the project: airy and luminous, yet capable of remarkable intensity and expressive power. Her interpretation moves between delicate, almost ethereal nuances and stronger, more dramatic moments, bringing a distinctive personality to every song. Her original music includes “L’Ambizione”, a song released in 2022, while her live repertoire also features unreleased original material.
A singer-songwriter with an ongoing commitment to vocal development, Merysse combines her artistic work with advanced training in singing for dubbing, further exploring the expressive possibilities of the voice.
At Village Italia in Evere, Merysse and Michele invite audiences to discover contemporary Italian music through an intimate acoustic performance, where the warmth of the guitar meets a distinctive voice and the emotional world of Italian songwriting.
