The Coudenberg Palace presents the sixth edition of Coudenberg Sound Box Fest, an eclectic festival where music meets history. Sunday 29th of November 18:30. Exiled Voices, Censured Truths Sephardic Folk & 20th-Century Music Ensemble Matica de Flor (France) weaves together traditional Sephardic melodies and Spanish Renaissance pieces from the Cancionero de Palacio, pairing lively songs with tender lullabies and romances centred on the themes of night and love. Bridging past and present, the performance interweaves poetry with 20th-century newspaper excerpts in a dynamic dialogue. As a laureate of CSBF Next/Gen in 2025 and winner of the second prize at the prestigious Van Wassenaer International Competition in 2026, the ensemble is establishing itself as one of the most promising early music groups in Europe. Formed in 2021, string trio Satellite has rapidly established itself on the European scene, winning the 2025 Supernova competition at Klarafestival and taking first prize at Génération Classique 2025. Guided by renowned mentors, the ensemble is celebrated for championing rarely performed works and bringing visibility to women composers. Their powerful programme “Speak: Art and Freedom” gathers 20th-century string trios composed under oppressive regimes, transforming dark historical contexts into a luminous ode to artistic resistance and freedom, framed by the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
