"Alle Dagen Cake is a series of paintings by Annea Lyvv Dreisz, emerging from her research for the Art’s Birthday cake Empire of Light at M HKA. What began as a reflection on celebration, light, and resistance against a culture of deception evolved into a daily painting practice: one cake a day. Like a meditation, each painting becomes an investigation of colour, texture, and ritual. Inspired by both the tradition of European still-life painting and the joyful excess of cakes, Dreisz transforms frosting, fruit, flowers, and cream into vibrant oil paintings. Every work is titled Centrepiece followed by the date of its creation, marking a moment worth celebrating. Drawing on a long history in which cakes symbolised wealth, status, and communal gathering, Dreisz reclaims them as emblems of connection, pleasure, and liberation. In her hands, cake becomes more than an object: it becomes a currency of care, a celebration of the present moment, and a quiet critique of systems that value profit over happiness. There must be hundreds of cakes. One cake a day will suffice."
