In this programme, the musicians of the BNO take you on a journey across several decades of creation, revealing a many-sided Stravinsky: constantly surprising, deeply innovative, and ever-evolving. Discover the remarkable sound palette he creates even with small ensembles, through instrumentations that are as inventive as they are unexpected. A work by his contemporary Maurice Ravel completes the programme, showcasing the orchestral imagination of both composers and the rich sound worlds they explore within the chamber music repertoire. Following an opening for solo clarinet, a variety of ensembles - from duo to septet, octet, and twelve-player formations - bring a wealth of colours and contrasts to life. The programme blends lyricism with rhythmic precision, bold modernity with neoclassical clarity, and poetic expression with a playful spirit.
