Duo RAAS with 'Balkansplinters'The sounds of the Balkans will fill Queens Brussels as Duo RAAS brings infectious rhythms, winding melodies and rich folk traditions to life in an intimate dialogue between violin and guitar.Guitarist Marie-Lou Debels and violinist Ruth Mareen share a passion for folk music in its most spontaneous form: music passed from one musician to another, learned by ear and brought to life through playful exchanges and improvisation. In their latest project, Balkansplinters, they weave together compositions by Béla Bartók and Mart Flecijn with traditional melodies from Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania, creating a colourful musical journey full of energy, intimacy and unexpected twists. Developed during their summer residency at Queens Brussels, this concert promises a lively and inspiring encounter between folk traditions and contemporary interpretations.
