At first glance, the Mow Quartet might seem like a classical string quartet, but you only need to hear them perform live once to realise that they are so much more than that. This all-female group takes you by surprise from the very first notes. Graduates of the Royal Conservatoires of Belgium, these four musicians are equally at home with Haydn’s string quartets and traditional Balkan songs, which they reinterpret through original arrangements… whilst singing in four-part harmony. For singing is an integral part of their artistic identity. Blurring the lines between genres, they blend strings and vocals to create a unique soundscape, oscillating between chamber music, folk, instrumental rock and urban influences. They perform their own compositions, boldly reinterpret well-known tracks and write socially conscious, meaningful lyrics.
