Another example of Art Nouveau. Doors, windows and balconies seem to stretch out, creating the illusion of a moving, elastic facade. Yet the walls are definitely solid, dating back to 1907. The architect Cooreman aimed to create a unique architectural design by using bricks of different shades. The delicate arabesque decorations in the ironwork are a nod to the mesmerising embellishments Art Nouveau is known for. The balcony is entirely made of blue stone. Its lightness creates a playful contrast with the solid materials of the rest of the building. In a nutshell, the house is seemingly in motion.
