Royale Union Saint-Gilloise have a legendary stadium. It is one of the few football stadiums in Belgium that has not succumbed to commercialism. The stadium hosted the football matches of the 1920 Olympic Games. The reliefs on the façade are by Oscar De Clerck, an expressionist sculptor who was very popular at the time. The stadium entered the realm of popular literature through the much-loved play ‘Bossemans et Coppenolle’, a sort of Romeo & Juliet based on the rivalry between two teams, Daring of Molenbeek and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. On game days, you can soak up the typical Brussels atmosphere.
