This former covered market - an impressive work of glass and steel - opened its doors in 1901. Since 1974, it has housed a cultural centre, known as Halles de Schaerbeek, which is renowned in Belgium and beyond. Its rich cultural programme covers everything from dance to theatre, exhibitions and performances. As such, fruit and vegetable stalls have been replaced by a variety of impressive arts.
