EuroVelo 5, also known as the "Via Romea Francigena," is a European cycle road that covers 3,900 km and connects London to Brindisi, going through seven countries (The United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland and Italy). Over a thousand years ago, Sigeric the Serious, Archbishop of Canterbury, walked to Rome to receive a gift from the Pope. You can follow in his footsteps by taking the two-wheel version of his itinerary on the Via Romea Francigena.
