At the feet of the imposing Chapel Church, square des Ursulines is the epicentre of Brussels' urban and hip-hop culture. The square is home to the largest skate park in the city centre, whose bowl is regularly repainted, making it a kind of evolving fresco. Skateboarders, rollerbladers and BMX riders can be found here for at all hours of the day and evening. Although it's experienced riders who put on a show, this spot is open to everyone, even beginners. It's often enhanced by an impromptu DJ set... The creation of square des Ursulines dates back to the 1950s, when the first section of the tunnel for the railway junction between the north and south of the capital was completed. Various areas of the Brussels-Chapelle station located to the south of the square are dedicated to exhibitions and urban art performances. Concerts, film screenings... it's worth the trip for any fan of hip hop culture.
