The metro again! The Alma station is truly exceptional. The whole station was designed as a work of art by Lucien Kroll in 1982. The university campus was inaugurated in the 1970s. This was the golden age of concrete. The artist wanted to give the station an organic look. A ceiling made of glass petals, columns of moulded concrete reminiscent of trees, foliage and painted birds. We also see marks left in the fresh concrete by the workers’ shoes. It feels like a tribute to the master Gaudi and a vibrant call for more humanity.
