The Magritte district is quite unique. The spirit of the surrealist painter René Magritte is said to watch over the place, which is dotted with mosaics. It all began in 2012, under the impetus of mosaicist Jean-Christophe Duperron. Residents were asked to decorate their neighbourhood with 40 x 40 cm tiles. Since then, they can be found everywhere, on pavement slabs, panels, murals and street furniture. Colour and childlike, with poetic, playful shapes. And of course, many tributes to the painter. "A pipe dream”, Magritte would probably have cried out.
