Unveiled in 1965, the Mont des Arts carillon adorns one of the facades of the Palais de la Dynastie, which was built in 1958 for the World Expo to serve as a venue for official ceremonies. With its clock shaped like a 12-pointed star, it features a number of small niches that house figures linked to Brussels' history and folklore. The carillon alternates between two folk tunes, one Flemish and the other Walloon, drawing the attention of passers-by.
