Hôtel Tassel Designed by Victor Horta in 1893. A building that marked the start of the Art Nouveau movement. The rounded bow window, the desire to showcase the iron structure and the search for natural light are all on display. Note the optical effect created by the side windows that create a tapering line with the floors. The highest ones are reminiscent of loopholes. The same decrescendo appears in the central part: five columns for the mezzanine, four large metal supports on the first floor, two pillars for the balcony. Emile Tassel, the client, was a professor of geometry at the University of Brussels. Shapes were his thing, that’s for sure.
