This line of colourful windmills was created in 2005. It symbolises the renewal of the Canal district, a former industrial site in the city centre. The fresco on building no. 40 recalls the maritime past of the area. The canal recalls the open sea. Rue du Chien Vert, which can be translated as Street of the Green Dog, an odd and somewhat poetic name, refers to the lock that used to be on this level. Or it could be a reference to an old café famous for its very strong beer, Chien Vert. In any case, it refers to a liquid flowing. How apt.
