Three nymphs at the water's edge. Aglaia, Euphrosyne and Thalia, the daughters of Zeus, were a very common theme in the Belle Epoque. But this is a more recent example, since this fountain dates from 1999. We can see that in just a century, the female beauty standards have drastically evolved. By reviving an old-school motif, artist Alfred Blondel no doubt wanted to integrate the fountain into the typical late 19th-century setting of Forest Park, which was inaugurated in 1882 and is surrounded by luxurious Art Nouveau houses.
