This original English-cottage-style house is the work of Antoine Pompe, who used materials of extremely high quality. He died at the age of 107 and lived to see Leopold II, two world wars, Jacques Brel and even Abba! He witnessed the transformation of Ganshoren from a rural village to an urban suburb, in the span of a lifetime. Antoine Pompe had a truly unique style, a mix of Victor Horta and the simplicity of the cottage style. Take a look at the motifs on the facade. Can you spot the small bestiary nestled between the door and the stones?
Pompous much?
