Formerly the orchard of King Leopold II, Sobieski Park covers just over 3 hectares and owes its name to one of the avenues that border it, Avenue Jean Sobieski, named after the 17th century Polish sovereign. Together with the Colonial Garden and the Florist's Garden, its two neighbours, this park forms a green space three times larger, which is the property of the Royal Donation, a stone's throw from the Royal Residence of Laeken. It was created at the beginning of the 20th century as Leopold II sought to embellish his estate with numerous fruit trees and greenhouses where vines, orange trees, peach trees, apricot trees, etc. were grown. Enjoy a walk in the nearby Laeken Park and Osseghem Park, the latter of which leads you to the Atomium. There you can visit Mini-Europe, the Planetarium and the Design Museum Brussels. Temporary exhibitions are regularly held at Brussels Expo. Last but not least, marvel at the Japanese Tower and the Museum of the Far East.
