Another remarkable Art Deco work is the Haerens Hotel, designed in 1928 by the Belgian architect Antoine Courtens. He was a pupil of Victor Horta, the ‘Pope’ of Art Nouveau, before he discovered the great American architect Lloyd Wright. This building features both influences. You will notice the same rounded corner as that of the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, which was designed by Horta. The ornaments at the top of the façade are identical to Wright's East Hollywood houses. So, is this plagiarism? Not at all! Just the genius of integrating different influences into an entirely new masterpiece.
