A square dedicated to the heroes of World War II. The statue of Montgomery was unveiled in 1980 in the axis of the Cinquantenaire. This British field marshal had a reputation for being full of himself. The posture of the sculpture captures this perfectly. Get off your bike at the underground station, where you will find works by major Belgian artists: Jean-Michel Folon’s work at the gates, Jo Delahaut’s lovely composition of coloured mosaics on the platforms, and finally, on the stairs, the sensual images by Pol Marat from Antwerp. You’ll want to miss your train and admire these gems.
