Lous and The Yakuza
Inspired and danceable poetry
With "Dilemme," her first single that changed her and her fans' lives, she has been attracting our well-deserved attention since 2019. Last week, she launched her second album with absolute class, with "Hiroshima" as a catchy single that reaffirms her inexhaustible talent. Lous and The Yakuza announces a new series of concerts, including an exclusive performance at AB.Since her debut, the Belgian-Congolese singer has intrigued and charmed. Her work, recognized in Belgium and beyond, is universal and makes language and cultural barriers disappear. In 2020, she blew away critics and audiences with her first album "Gore," produced by Spanish producer El Guincho (known for his work with Rosalía) and immediately established herself as the new Belgian pop sensation. Her charisma, melodies and lyrics are the equivalent of a unique personality and guarantee inspired and danceable poetry. Lous and The Yakuza is in demand, playing a series of concerts and on the posters of the best festivals (Dour, Core). With hit-sensitive album "iota," her new full-length released last Friday, Lous strips away all labels and delivers twelve quality pop RnB songs full of eclecticism, rap and Japanese rhythms. With her intelligence, sincerity and honesty, she manages to touch everyone in their feels. Don't miss the chance to see Lous and The Yakuza on stage at AB.

Laila Sakini
intimate singer-songwriter ambient
We know Melbourne-born and London-based multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer and performer Laila Sakini from her many releases like ‘Like A Gun’, ‘Vivienne’, ‘Strada’, ‘Into The Traffic’ and ‘Under The Moonlight’. But also from the collaboration with poet Lucy Van, her DEEWEE release ‘The Other Me’ and, of course, from her alter ego Princess Diana of Wales. With minimal instrumentation and an ethereal voice, Sakini creates in her amazing ambient songs a world of sound from which fans of Grouper, Tirzah, HTRK or Mica Levi can feast. Her latest album was released on November 4 via the Modern Love label, that you then may know from the sublime dark electronica of the likes of Andy Stott , Demdike Stare or Mary Jane Leach."Laila Sakini is producing some of the most vital and brittle music of our time.” Boomkat“An enigma with a purpose” The Wire“With each listen, there's another line, another noise, that jumps out from Sakini's sonic coral reef, a reef that feels simultaneously uplifting and deeply distressing.“ - Resident Advisor, 2022.

YellowStraps had been brothers Yvan and Alban Murenzi, with African roots, but operating out of Brussels for about a decade. Henceforth, this is primarily a wonderful project by Yvan who, on 'Tentacle', continues to evolve within that captivating, thriving neo soul blend. After several releases, EPs, mixtapes, a deserved COLORS pass and "most promising artist" at the Red Bull Elektropedia Awards, this is a brave, fruitful progression for fans of fresh, fine listening and dance music!

Kraak presents: Jef Mertens & Bromp Treb
Double bill curated by Belgium's finest underground label
Gather round the AB’s homiest Salon one more time before the renovations board it up for a year. The occasion: celebrating the newest KRAAK’s record, Jef Mertens NO MATHEMATICS LP co-released with the venerable Feeding Tube label outta the US. On the bill for the night is one of our favorite American import/exports, Bromp Treb and his noisey inanities alongside meneer Mertens himself. Have a seat, this one’s gonna pack some subtle and less subtle punches. JEF MERTENS (BE)Hailing from Geel, Jef Mertens has been researching, documenting and subtly exploring the experimental music scene in Belgium and beyond for the better part of two decades. As a filmmaker, he’s dug deep in the realm of Flemish primitive fringe (Dronevolk) and chronicled the makings of giants like Sonic Youth and Borbetomagus. After running the now-defunct free tape label Dadaist Tapes, Mertens comes with a release of his own: NO MATHEMATICS, the first record collab between KRAAK and Feeding Tube. It’s an entrancing debut, where shruti box and guitar conjoin to create circling ragas of solemn yet resounding force. The heart of Belgian dronevolk is alive and very much beating.https://www.tapingpolicies.com/ BROMP TREB (US)“Bromp Treb is onomatopoeia, the sputterings of refined dysfunction and eager uncertainty. An improvised maze of crooked rhythms and tangled textures made with voice, synthesis, percussion and body, maybe a little physical comedy.” Hard to describe Neil “Cloaca” Young’s Bomp Trebian pursuits in better words than his own. Having just relocated to Los Angeles from his East Coastian dwellings, the Treb is back on the Eurotrail and we’re ecstatic to have this wild ride of haphazard joys on the menu. Who even knows what this true lord of chaos has in store ~ maybe check to see if you have a hazmat suit handy.tinyurl.com/bromptreb

Michelle Gurevich - Patches
Canadian-Russian Michelle Gurevich originally wanted to make films. After a decade in that world, she decided to shift her talents to music and began writing songs in her bedroom, as she still does today. It explains how her music sounds both grandiose and particularly intimate, how the dramatic and the sincere seem to find each other blindly. Her sound is hugely influenced by her parents' record closet, full of Soviet and European records from the 1970s. Michelle translates that into smoky ballads full of sharp, fatalistic lyrics, with a melodramatic flair that feels very natural to fans of Charles Aznavour, Zeki Müren and Nikolai Slichenko. With regularly sold-out shows in cities such as Istanbul, Berlin, Warsaw and Athens, it should come as no surprise that Gurevich has amassed a huge fan base in both Eastern Europe and the Berlin queer scene. But her tragicomic, melodic and sentimental sound in the shadow of glamour is something that transcends the borders.
PATCHES
« Patches » is Lotte Lauwer's way to fix emotional debris. Exploring the curiosity towards fictive or lost places, tinted with decadence and false romance, she delivers a haunting and subtle art pop.

BUY YOUR TICKETS STANDING CONCERT
There wasn’t a eureka moment in Amanda Tenfjord’s life where realized she was musical. She just always has been. The 25-year-old Greek/Norwegian singer began playing piano aged five, and from then it was almost destined in some capacity that she would live her life in music. Tenfjords confidence gives way to sing-along pop hooks, while her modesty grounds each song with a deep and resonant humanity. Hers is pop music that makes you feel alive.
Forwarding to 2022, Tenfjords juggles life as a medicine student and indie pop star having her music spread worldwide since her debut-EP release back in 2018. Hailed by publications such as TheFADER and NME, her songs have travelled globally with support from Spotify and Apple as well as features on Netflix series “Spinning Out” and NRK/BBC3 series “Nudes”.
Tenfjords mesmerizing vocals and powerful stage presence has also taken her to various festivals such as Reperbahn (DE), The Great Escape (UK) and Eurosonic (NL), as well as several tours across Norway. In May 2022 she was the official representative for Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest. With the self-written track “Die Together”, which was also produced by Bjørn Helge Gammelsæter, she gained Greece the 8th place, one of the best positions Greece has achieved in recent years.
Tickets will be on sale Friday 27 May at 10 am.

Sorry
Exciting new sound from London, released on Domino.
Sorry, the band around Asha Lorenz and Louis O'Bryen has nothing to apologize for. The barely 24-year-old childhood friends attracted the attention of Domino Recording on which they released their debut album '925' in March 2020 through some loose online releases. Pitchfork about this record: '925 is a strange and searing debut, worthy of being taken seriously even when it's not serious'. On October 7 this year the successor "anywhere but her" will be released and this is coupled with a European tour that also stops in Brussels. Come and see this eccentric band play their fresh sound with a wink in our club!

L'Apothéose
Reinterpreting Bach - A contemporary vision
Bach through fresh eyes and in young hands: this is naturally the true heart of the Bach Heritage Festival and this concert will certainly be a highlight in that respect. Things moved at an extraordinary pace for this young ensemble in their home country: from the classroom in the academy to residencies in the greatest musical institutions in Spain in a matter of years - and gathering a series of prestigious prizes along the way. Meanwhile, they are making a clear international breakthrough with special refined interpretations, which literally uncover every rhetorical and emotional layer in a piece. Their colourful and authentic historical approach is applied not only in their repertoire of Spanish baroque, but also to German masters Handel and Telemann. And, as you might expect during our festival, also to Bach, as the greatest one of all.
