We all know that locals probably aren't the best people to ask about the hotel offerings in their region or city, and in Brussels, it's no different. A shame really, because there are some real gems out there! Thank goodness for Brussels' rooftop terraces! You don't even have to spend the night there, they're open to everyone and a great way to get to know the city's hotels. Take, for example, the four-star Warwick Brussels hotel, near Central Station. Their elegant rooftop terrace offers a breathtaking view of the Grand-Place and the capital's historic centre. Here, you can tuck in to Belgian culinary produce and a house cocktail in style.

The Eight Rooftop Brussels

You can hop from one hotel rooftop to another. A little further down rue du Midi, the Bedford Hotel welcomes you to The Eight Rooftop, on, you guessed it, its eighth floor. Here, too, you'll enjoy stunning views over Brussels' historic centre. Marvel at the City Hall spire on Grand-Place and the Palace of Justice. The rooftop offers a wide range of signature cocktails, craft beers and snacks.

The BeerLab

The majestic former stock exchange was completely renovated and, since 2023, has housed The BeerLab: an extraordinary beer-tasting area with access to a huge terrace with breathtaking views of Brussels. The panoramic view is a must, and offers a great break from the hustle and bustle of the city. But beyond the view, it's the beer list that's worth the visit, with no fewer than 150 different beers, including 49 on draught. The BeerLab is the perfect place to relax after a visit to Belgian Beer World, where you will learn all about the history of Belgian beer. Or you can relax and finish the day in the sun with friends. From 16:30 until 22:00, the terrace is accessible, with or without a ticket for Belgian Beer World.

58 Rooftop

The view from the top floor of Parking 58 is part of the people of Brussels’ collective memory. The building has been demolished, and the City of Brussels’ new Brucity administrative building has been built where it once stood. From the ninth floor, you can enjoy a snack and a drink in the evenings and during the weekends, while admiring the breathtaking 360-degree view of the capital. With its 3,000 square meters, the 58 Rooftop is Europe's largest rooftop terrace.

Bozar Rooftop

Victor Horta had designed it to be open to the public. Today, the roof of Bozar has finally kept his promise. Up there, sheltered from the noise, the city disappears behind a curtain of foliage and sound. Between two installations, a lecture, a DJ set or an impromptu siesta, you can sip a craft beer and watch the clouds roll by overhead. Children play in the distance, ideas flow and so do the drinks. It's an open-air cultural peak, just as Horta dreamed it would be.

Beursschouwburg

Close to the Bourse building you'll find another sublime roof terrace, on the top floor of the Beursschouwburg. This multidisciplinary arts centre has long occupied a special place in the hearts of the people of Brussels. You are more than welcome to chill out and have a drink with friends. First you have to climb the 107 stairs but they are, believe us, a real stairway to heaven! The rooftop is open in June from Wednesday to Saturday, from 17:00, and the rest of the time is accessible during parties and concerts, for an admission fee; check the programme.

Casa Alta

This isn't the coast, but close your eyes and you'd think you were there. The warm air, the golden light, the billowing cream curtains... Welcome to Casa Alta, at the very top of the Grand Casino VIAGE. The bohemian-chic atmosphere is effortlessly soothing, with woven lanterns, touches of red and a sunny playlist. On the menu: ceviche, vegetarian paella and holiday cocktails. Open every day from 17:00, with a cooler indoor area if the sun is beating down. High up on the roof of the Viage, your aperitif will take on a whole new dimension.

Akai

Akai is a rooftop lounge restaurant located on the 30th floor of the Cardo Brussels, right in the heart of the city. Its unique and contemporary fusion cuisine takes your taste buds on a journey through Japanese and Mediterranean flavours. Three distinct spaces are available - The Main Room, The Lounge and The Bar Counter - catering to every occasion, whether large gatherings with friends or more intimate encounters. Albert

Take the lift at the rear of the KBR, walk through a discreet corridor, and then... it opens up. Up there, the noise of Brussels subsides and Albert’s hanging garden opens up before you. In the shade of the large parasols, you can order fresh, plant-based dishes, a glass of local wine and enjoy the Mont des Arts as a backdrop. Whether you're on your own with a book or relaxing after work with friends, this place ticks all the boxes. Reading, eating, laughing, breathing: everything's a bit more elevated here.
