About the artwork: αsklipion
Discover αsκlipιοn, a plant-based audiovisual installation, whis is the result of a collaboration between lighting artist Emilien Guesnard, composer Cédric Béron, biologist Emeline Mourocq and herbalist Claire Lebeau.
In ancient Greece, an αsklipion was a healing shrine dedicated to Asklipios, god of medicine. Recalling notions of nature and the environment, the work invites us to re-discover plants from our countryside and their benefits.
We know that plants generate frequencies. The artist and his team translated them into sound and light, to create a soothing, almost therapeutic experience in the hustle and bustle of the city. A fountain placed at the heart of the installation reinforces the relaxation effect. Visible day and night, the work is accompanied by explanatory labels to identify each plant and its properties.
About the artist: Emilien Guesnard
Emilien Guesnard is a visual artist and lighting designer based in the Monts du Lyonnais. He creates light and sound installations for public spaces that question the world and its changes. He mixes light in all its forms with bewitching sounds that project our imagination into other worlds. Beyond making it his profession, light has been a veritable means of expression for him since childhood. Between exhibitions, concerts and trips to festivals, the artist experiments with this intangible material that he tames and shapes, no longer as a showcase, but as the main character of his creations.
