Carnaval

Collectif Scale (FR) - Wolf Sharing Food Market

About the artwork:

With Carnaval, the Scale collective explores a new way of creating with dynamic light. The work is a living mural which harks back to the artistic codes of the Bauhaus movement. Although the graphic composition is two-dimensional, its maze of tangled lines highlights a complex perspective. From the flat and the immobile are born movement and depth. In addition to the dynamic design and the drawing of the light, a perfect transcription of the music carries the narrative in a poetic and captivating way.

About the collective: Scale

The Scale collective was born about fifteen years ago from four passionate friends who wanted to innovate by combining their know-how. Today, having become multigenerational and recognised worldwide, Scale maintains its DIY spirit. Refusing individual definitions, its members favour the collective creation of new media art installations, inspired by science, contemporary art and pop culture. They explore the links between music, visuals, light, architecture, entertainment, nature and technology, developing, over the years, a language of their own that’s innovative and accessible to as many people as possible.

About the location: Wolf Sharing Food Market

Carnaval is located in front of the Wolf Sharing Food Market. This famous food court occupies the former headquarters of the CGER bank, with its facade adorned with frescoes by Oscar Jespers and a glass ceiling by Val Saint Lambert. The Wolf Sharing Food Market offers 17 restaurants, 2 bars, event spaces and a microbrewery. During the Bright Brussels Festival, the venue celebrates the light and energy of the city through Carnaval, a genuine, living mural that humorously echoes the creations of Oscar Jespers on its facade.
