About the artwork: Emergences

Emergences is a site-specific light and sound installation that transforms the city into a perceptual playground by revealing, in an unexpected way, a visual and sound link between the underground and the sky. Vertical beams of light emerge from a series of sewer covers, made visible by a light fog diffused around each block. Diverted urban elements – barriers, studs, construction sites – redesign the space and give it a new function, inviting passers-by to reconsider what usually goes unnoticed.
Each island offers an autonomous experience, with its own light and sound behaviour, while remaining complementary to the others: their sequences can coexist, alternate or compose a larger whole. Through these punctual and surprising interventions, Emergences offers a renewed reading of the urban environment and stages this vertical dialogue between the hidden and the visible.
