TUTU (Miles Electric Sextet)
I was barely 20 when TUTU came out. It blew my mind. I’d come from a rock background – the Stones, Prince… and then, suddenly, Miles Davis. Nearly forty years later, TUTU has come back to haunt me. With a line-up of six musicians, the project revisits this electric and fiercely modern period in Miles Davis’s career, using TUTU as a starting point and Marcus Miller as a guiding light. Here, there’s no question of reproducing the album note for note. Instead, we rediscover the spirit of Miles’s live performances: a riff, a groove, a cue… and the music can shift at any moment. TUTU is jazz that draws on funk, rock and electronic music. It’s tense, free and physical music, where listening and the groove are paramount. And above all, there’s one desire: to recapture on stage that incredible sense of danger that characterised Miles Davis’s music.

Tribute to Maurane
If you were told about Claudine Luypaerts, you probably wouldn’t know who it was. Yet, you know the songs by heart. Maurane is a Belgian singer, singer-songwriter and actress whose best-known songs have been sung by millions of music lovers around the world. A golden voice of French song, Maurane combined her sense of sensitivity with her talent as a performer to give the audience a nice dose of swing and emotions. It's alongside Charles Loos, first pianist of Maurane (HLM) and Patrick Deltenre who accompanied her over 25 years, that Natacha Wuyts gives us the honor to pay tribute to her.

Or Bareket Quartet
This is undoubtedly one of the most exciting concerts we have ever had the pleasure of hosting! Double bassist Or Bareket is a true luminary of contemporary jazz, having collaborated with a host of the finest musicians of our time. Raised speaking three languages and at the crossroads of a multitude of cultures, his music is deeply imbued with this cosmopolitan spirit. It is, in fact, this open-mindedness that led him to settle in Brooklyn some fifteen years ago, where he has established himself as a firm fixture and key figure on New York’s vibrant scene. His quartet promises to set the stage alight for an exceptional evening: he is joined by the exceptionally talented drummer Savannah Harris, the brilliant Godwin Louis — undoubtedly one of the world’s finest saxophonists today, according to our artistic director — and the young piano prodigy Esteban Castro, aged just 24. A masterful performance not to be missed. Please note: there will be just one double set, so tickets are very limited!

Amadou, Ribot, Smith
For several years now, uncompromising experimentation has been at the heart of Liège-born, Brussels-based Farida Amadou’s work. Her idiosyncratic and intuitive approach to the bass is a perfect match for Marc Ribot and Ches Smith, two greats of the American experimental improvisation scene. For more than 40 years, Ribot has forged a versatile and unpredictable guitar sound shaped by punk, noise and avant-garde jazz. Equally adventurous is Ches Smith, whose wily and inventive drumming constantly pushes his fellow musicians to their limits. Together, the three build raw sound fields that embrace friction, somewhere between free jazz, noise and electroacoustic improvisation. However natural their connection may seem, their music remains impossible to predict.

Michel Mainil / Greg Houben Reunion 5tet
Two leading figures of Belgian jazz, Michel Mainil and Greg Houben, reunite on the Music Village stage for a moment of pure musical delight. Surrounded by exceptional musicians — Jérémy Dumont on piano, Jean Van Lint on double bass, and Jan de Haas on drums — they form a quintet brimming with energy, chemistry, and joy.
The Reunion 5tet is where melody, swing, and emotion meet — where the warm tone of Greg Houben’s flugelhorn and his elegant voice respond to the expressive phrasing of Michel Mainil’s saxophone. Together, they explore a repertoire blending great jazz standards with a nod to Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, all delivered with their signature humor and sincerity.

Grant Green tribute
Gonzalo Rodriguez Diaz - Guitar
Gaëtan Casteels - Double bas
Didier Van Uytvanck - Drums
TBC - Key
This quartet pays tribute to the music and unique sound of Grant Green, one of the most distinctive guitarists of the Blue Note era.
With guitar, bass, drums and keyboards, the band explores the different facets of Green’s music, from blues-driven hard bop to Latin jazz, soul and funk. The repertoire combines some of Green’s own compositions — including *Blues for Willarene*, *Grant’s Tune*, *Jean De Fleur*, *Idle Moments*, *Matador* and *Solid* — with tunes that became part of his unmistakable musical universe.
Rather than aiming to recreate the original recordings note for note, the quartet takes Green’s music as a starting point for a lively, groove-oriented performance, with plenty of room for improvisation and interaction between the musicians.
The programme follows a musical journey through Green’s career, moving from the swinging, blues-based language of his early Blue Note recordings towards the Latin and funky sounds of his later work.
A tribute to a guitarist whose warm tone, deep groove and unmistakably bluesy phrasing continue to inspire generations of musicians.

Camille Bertault
A singer of surreal virtuosity, the French artist Camille Bertault is a must-listen for fans of vocal jazz. Her 2023 Victoire du Jazz award crowns an already impressive career that has taken her from Paris to New York. She first came to the attention of the wider public on YouTube thanks to her vocal rendition of ‘Giant Steps’ (one of the most virtuosic solos in jazz history), performed with breathtaking mastery, and has since released a string of albums. She has won over critics in both France and the United States, where the prestigious New York-based label Sunnyside offered her the chance to record her debut album exactly ten years ago. It is a true star of European jazz whom we have the immense pleasure and honour of welcoming to our intimate venue. You won’t want to miss this!

Les Chroniques de l'Inutile
In January 2017, Les Chroniques de l'Inutile played the first concert at Walter. Almost ten years later, the band returns to present its third album, Hapax (IGLOO Records). The album features twelve compositions by Benjamin Sauzereau, written in his familiar poetic style, with a penchant for unusual forms, abrupt shifts, rich arrangements and playfulness.
January 2017. Walter is still an empty warehouse, freshly vacated by its previous owners. There is one tiny toilet, and the only staircase is in a questionable state. The bar is a table with two crates of beer underneath, and we can see our breath in the cold air. The laws and objections of the fire brigade, insurance companies and Class 2 environmental permits are not yet standing between us and the dream. The first artists have claimed a studio space for themselves, and it is there that Les Chroniques de l’Inutile get to reign supreme for an evening. After almost a decade of Walter, inviting them back felt like the most natural thing in the world!
Now, the band returns to celebrate its fifteenth anniversary and the release of its third album, Hapax (IGLOO Records). The album features twelve compositions by Sauzereau, written in his familiar, poetic style, with a fondness for unusual forms, abrupt shifts, rich arrangements and playfulness. His compositions are always written with specific musicians in mind — musicians with diverse backgrounds and vivid imaginations. They are precise, yet leave plenty of room for unexpected detours. And this time, they can finally be experienced in Walter’s concert hall.

Africa Is/in the Future invites us to an afternoon of music and conversation
As part of Africa Is/in the Future, Conversations soniques brings together three artists whose practices explore the connections between sound, memory and forms of knowledge. At the intersection of artistic research, oral traditions and contemporary musical expression, this gathering invites us to consider sound as a space for exploration, transmission and reflection.Phantom Wizard is a composer and improviser whose work dissolves boundaries and reimagines traditions. Dumama, a South African musician, composer and sound poet, weaves together personal narratives, oral traditions, voices and electronic experimentation to question prevailing representations of the sonic culture of southern Africa. The gathering will take the form of a reading and a moment of reflection with Phantom Wizard and Dumama, followed by a live performance by Oriana Ikomo. This Brussels-based artist has a distinctive musical universe, blending delicate melodies, ambient textures, jazz influences and minimalist R&B, carried by a voice that is both gentle and assured.A moment to listen differently, share perspectives and explore what sound allows us to imagine beyond what is immediately perceptible.Spoken language: EnglishChildcare: a childcare service is available for children from 4 years old. Saul Rubin Trio feat. Doug Weiss and Armando Luongo
Although his name may not be familiar to the general public in Europe, Saul “Zebulon” Rubin is a true legend of the New York jazz scene. As an arranger for Roy Hargrove, with whom he toured for years, and a long-standing collaborator of Sonny Rollins, this speaks volumes about his talent as a sideman and the calibre of this guitarist. Beyond these two giants, he has collaborated with a countless number of major figures in jazz and has performed in the most prestigious clubs and venues across the globe. A key figure in New York’s jazz community (he notably founded and ran ‘Zeb’s’, a renowned venue for creativity and performance, from 2009 to 2016), he is always keen to play with newcomers and to take on the role of an old-school mentor. It was during various trips to New York that Armando Luongo had the opportunity to play with Saul. The Italian drummer, a mainstay of the Brussels jazz scene for many years, is therefore taking advantage of the guitarist’s visit to invite him to join him for a special quartet concert at Toots. A rare opportunity to see a true guardian of the New York jazz scene in the intimate setting of our Brussels club!
