Exploring the north of the city

Day 2: exploring the north of the city

The north of Brussels is brimming with must-visit cultural attractions for families. A sure-fire hit? Train World. This colossal attraction immerses you in a spectacular setting showcasing trains from yesteryear and the present day. Pick up one of the fun activity books and let the adventure begin.  Next, take tram 7 towards Heysel, where you’ll find Mini-Europe and the Atomium, two of Brussels’ classic family attractions. The nearby Design Museum is also a great alternative if you have teenagers with an eye for aesthetics.

Next, head to Tour & Taxis on metro line 6 and get off at Pannenhuis station. Tour & Taxis is bordered by a huge park that’s a lovely place to stroll. There you’ll find a playground and the ParkFarm community project, which promotes environmental and social causes.

Tour & Taxis hosts numerous events and exhibitions throughout the year. You can also visit WOM - World of Mind, dedicated to optical illusions. It’s an immersive experience that will spark your kids' curiosity.

When it comes to dining out, La Fabricca is a favourite among Brussels families. Their Sunday brunch is an absolute must! The Food Market at the Gare Maritime offers a wide range of food stalls to delight every palate. Right next door, a wooden play area welcomes children aged 1 to 6. Kay 36, in the neighbouring district, is another excellent option.
