Art History : Bordalo2, Flog, Insane51, Leon Keer, Levalet, Murmure, Tamara Alves, Vuk Vidor, YZ

Visit the Maison Hannon
A singular work of Art Nouveau, Maison Hannon is the sum of the tastes and passions of its commissioners, Édouard and Marie Hannon.
Visiting the Maison Hannon is to discover the personal home of a couple, Marie Debard and Édouard Hannon, who together with their friend, the architect Jules Brunfaut, designed an Art Nouveau masterpiece. The interior was conceived as an enclosed, dreamlike and symbolic universe.
Visiting the Maison Hannon also includes a tour of the temporary exhibition "Belgian Art Nouveau", which presents Art Nouveau in all its diversity through works from the most important Belgian collections. For more information, visit the Maison Hannon website.
Visiting the Maison Hannon also means becoming a patron of the arts. By purchasing a ticket, each visitor contributes 2 euros to the continuation of the restoration.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit, the Maison Hannon has a limited capacity. Online booking is therefore strongly recommended, but spontaneous visits are of course welcome. To book your ticket, go to the "Visit" page on the Maison Hannon website.

Chuzalongo
In collaboration with the Embassy of Ecuador and on the occasion of the Day of the Dead, Instituto Cervantes Brussels will screen the Ecuadorian thriller "Chuzalongo" (Diego Ortuño, 2024) on Tuesday, 3 November at 6:30 p.m.
"Chuzalongo" is set in a world of magic and fantasy, drawing on the narrative tradition of the classic vampire story. The film takes place at the end of the 19th century, when the Liberal Revolution was about to achieve its goals in Ecuador. Colourful characters and beautiful locations transport the audience to a world where traditions hold special significance and nature plays a profound role in the story.
Synopsis
A lost child appears in a remote Andean village at the end of the 19th century. Nicanor, the village priest, decides to take care of him and discovers that a few drops of the child’s blood make crops grow and bear fruit miraculously. Before long, Nicanor realises that the only way to keep the child alive is to feed him human blood.
The priest must decide whether to protect the child and bring him new victims, or let him die, knowing that the crops on which the villagers depend will die with him.

Txalapartas of wood, stone, ice | ARS MUSICA
A txalaparta, a fascinating Basque percussion instrument, will be constructed in ice. As it melts, it will interact with the captivating music of Anna Thorvaldsdottir.
Txalaparta: behind this rhythmic-sounding name lies a remarkable Basque instrument with mysterious origins. Is it an echo of the ancient instruments used to call people to prayer before the advent of church bells? Or a means of conveying simple messages? Its name, in Basque, evokes the poetic image of an "intense rain," a nod to the deep and regular vibration of its strikes. A kind of xylophone with massive slats played by vertical sticks, the txalaparta (pronounced "tchalaparta") is as much a percussion instrument as it is a fascinating gestural fane.
As part of the 2026 edition, of Ars Musica, ARCTIC FEVER, and in conjunction with Elena Ferrer's current exhibition, ISELP is hosting an extraordinary concert! Two Basque musicians will play wooden txalapartas (the original version), stone txalapartas, and also, exceptionally constructed for the occasion: an ice txalaparta! A special example that the artists had only created once before, in Lapland. Their percussive interventions will alternate with brief contemporary Nordic pieces for solo instruments, until the concert symbolically concludes with the melting of the coldest, most transparent, and ephemeral of the txalapartas present.
Including:
Harkaitz Urriza Martinez de San Vicente: Txalaparta
Mikel Ugarte Azurmendi: Viola
Victor Guaita: Viola

360 curvas
Viewing of '360 curvas' followed by a discussion with its director, Alejandro Gándara, and creators Adrián Méndez and Manuel Lucas
As part of the Mestre Mateo Awards, the Instituto Cervantes in Brussels will host a cycle of Galician cinema, whose next screening will be '360 curvas'.
Synopsis
360 curves mark the distance between A Fonsagrada and Lugo.
This long, difficult and descending road through the mountains reflects the decline of a place that, in the early 1990s, decided to fight for its survival.
About the director
Alejandro Gándara (Baio, 1993) holds a degree in Journalism from USC and a Master's Degree in Executive Audiovisual Production (MPXA). He worked as a journalist at La Opinión de A Coruña and in the Non-Fiction department of the audiovisual production company Voz. He was also a creative member of the audiovisual project 'Punto e Volta', which received the first Nacho Mirás Grant from the Association of Galician Journalists.
He directed the documentary series 'Galicia de 20 a 20', broadcast by CRTVG, and the documentary 'Dorothé na Vila'.
About the other creators
Adrián Méndez (Bilbao, 1996) has developed a career deeply connected to music, popular culture and oral memory. He is a musician —a bagpipe and hurdy-gurdy player with the group De Ninghures—, a traditional dance teacher and a researcher of popular culture, activities that he combines with cultural production and teaching.
Manuel Lucas is a filmmaker, musician and audiovisual enthusiast. His professional career spans documentary filmmaking and traditional music, seeking to connect both disciplines, with particular attention to aesthetics and visual sensitivity.

Ao son da nova regueifa
Viewing of 'Ao son da nova regueifa' followed by a discussion with its director, Manolo Maseda
As part of the Mestre Mateo Awards, the Instituto Cervantes in Brussels will host a cycle of Galician cinema, whose next screening will be 'Ao son da nova regueifa'.
Synopsis
It all begins with a search: the search for the New Regueifa. In the process, we come to realise that we are already walking to the rhythm of its music. This documentary takes us on a journey in search of the bridges built between traditional Regueifa and its more contemporary expressions, exploring the process of recovery and transformation of this art of oral improvisation in Galicia.
On a journey from north to south across the country, we meet regueifeiras and regueifeiros who open the doors to the world of improvised verse, highlighting the talent, creativity and diversity that characterise today's Regueifa. Along this route from Bergantiños to Vigo, we constantly encounter a series of opposites: tradition and modernity, village and city, innate learning and pedagogy…
Through passionate testimonies, improvised verses and plenty of music, we create a multifaceted portrait of contemporary Regueifa: an art with deep roots and open wings, ready to continue improvising to the rhythm of the wind.
About the director
Born in Burela in 1975, Manolo Maseda is a musician, composer, educator and regueifeiro. Trained at the Conservatory of Santiago de Compostela and holding a degree in History and Music Sciences from the University of Salamanca, he is a secondary-school music teacher and a passionate accordionist, the instrument through which he has forged his own artistic identity. He has participated in groups such as Fiandola, Serra-lhe aí!!! and Os Diplomáticos de Montealto, as well as collaborating with artists such as Guadi Galego, Sés, Uxía and Lamatumbá.
His connection with the regueifa emerged through educational activism, particularly through the Regueifesta Project, which for more than ten years has promoted oral improvisation in verse in Galician public schools. This project was also part of the European Erasmus+ programme, connecting Galicia with territories such as Sardinia, Madeira and the Basque Country. In addition, with the trio Regueifa Ambulante, which he shares with Lupe Blanco and Josinho da Teixeira, he continues to develop a broad and contemporary form of regueifa, rooted in tradition but open to the 21st century.
