Brussels Marathon & Half Marathon

Every year, sports enthusiasts from all over the world gear up for the Brussels Marathon & Half Marathon. This convivial running race usually takes place in October. The course starts right in the city centre on the magnificent Grand-Place and passes some of the capital's most iconic sites, finishing at the King Baudouin Stadium.

The Brussels 20km

The Brussels 20km at the end of May is a permanent fixture of the European capital's sports calendar. This race has been held since 1980 and attracts runners of all levels. Participants run through beautiful natural scenery and take in some of the Brussels-Capital Region's most beautiful monuments along the way. The race is considered one of the biggest running events in Europe, with more than 40,000 participants each year.

Ekiden Brussels

Every autumn, some 1,000 teams descend on King Baudouin Stadium for the Brussels Ekiden. Ekiden teams are made up of six runners, who cover the 42.195km marathon distance together. The relay changeovers are done with a special relay ribbon, the 'tasuki', rather than a baton. The event aims to promote running and the importance of team spirit in sport.

Brussels Urban Trail

The Brussels Urban Trail combines sport and heritage to great effect. At the end of June, this popular 10km run takes you through remarkable sites such as the Royal Palace, the Sewer Museum and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.
