The perfect Sunday morning starts with an elaborate brunch. Gather the whole family round the table and have some bacon and eggs, or fruit salad, or yogurt with granola, or pancakes … or all of the above!

Brussels locals (known as “Brusseleirs”) really love a good brunch so many restaurants even offer it on Saturdays. Hit up these select addresses that cater to families with children.

Le Balmoral

Le Balmoral, this retro milk bar makes children feel right at home with its original American decor in white, pink and baby blue. The menu features classics such as burgers, bagels and milkshakes. What more do you want? Start off your day with a hearty brunch dish, such as pancakes with maple syrup, or eggs with bacon, sausages, hash browns and muffins.

Also delicious (but maybe a tad heavy first thing in the morning) is a giant ice cream sundae such as the 'Nouvelle Vague', with 1 scoop of mocha, 1 scoop of chocolate, 2 scoops of speculoos, 1 scoop of almond, 1 scoop of cookie, custard and whipped cream. One thing’s for certain, it’s the ideal to start the day and you’re sure to leave satisfied.

The best thing of all about this friendly café is its cosy kids’ corner and the scrumptious children’s menu with its fun announcement: “If you clean your plate and Mum and Dad say it’s okay, you can have a free yoghurt with your kids’ meal (or an ice cream in sunny weather).” We love Chicago Café!

Lloyd Café Presse

Next to Avenue Louise or in the Westland shopping centre, the Lloyd Café Presse branches offer you the chance to enjoy a quiet coffee while your children have fun. These establishments are warm and welcoming places to enjoy a brunch served 7 days a week, with 4 options available. English, Nordic, Canadian or Belgian, enough to satisfy all your sweet or savoury morning desires!

It has a games room full of books, games and blackboards that allow them to express their boundless creativity.
