Enjoy life... off the beaten track! It's not easy when you're caught up in the hustle and bustle of the city! Are you looking for a refreshing break, a coffee in a cute little garden or an intimate venue to recharge your batteries? Hidden gems tucked away in a courtyard or nestled in a park: here's our selection of the capital's most stylish hidden terraces! Find your favourite spot for a quiet drink!

Café Costermans

Nestled in the narrow streets of the Sablon, La Maison Costermans has always been considered one of the capital's finest antique dealers. Since spring 2025, it has also been a trendy café that extends onto its vast indoor terrace. With its many decorative nods to the world of antiques (cast-iron chimney plates, retro lighting and sculptures weathered with age), this antique shop cafe offers creative cuisine. Kimchi for brunch? Yes, ma'am! Pistachios in the crumble? A no-brainer! A venue with a perfect balance of refinement and relaxation.

Bouchéry

Tucked away in an Uccle alleyway, a stone's throw from Wolvendael Park, Bouchéry  is all about escape for the body, mind and taste buds! Nestled in an English-style garden, its lush terrace features a few tables among the raspberry bushes and wild grasses. The menu is 100% vegetarian, creative and imaginative. In short, plants reign supreme inside, outside and on your plate!

La Fabrique en Ville

Sheltered from the hustle and bustle of Boulevard de la Toison d'Or, Egmont Park is a green haven in the heart of the Louise district. La Fabrique en ville,  with its bucolic-chic terrace, is set in a former orangery in this enclave of nature. The reputation of its brunch, which ranges from Mexican-style eggs to lemon linguine, has spread far and wide! In terms of decor, we love the charm of the large neoclassical windows, the matching lanterns and the shade of the ancient trees.

Jill Hotel

The Jill Hotel is much more than just a place to sleep! Located just a few minutes from the Gare du Midi, this modern, intimate establishment boasts an original terrace. Nestled in the heart of a Brussels-style housing block, its inner courtyard with its brightly coloured frescoed walls blends in perfectly with the neighbourhood. Designed by inspired street artists (10eme_arte, Stéphanie Fontaine and others), they provide a unique twist. It offers an urban atmosphere for a morning coffee or an evening drink.

Estaminet 1030

Schaerbeek, in the surprising backyard of a mansion, is where Estaminet 1030 sets up its few tables. Inside this micro-café straight out of the '50s, wooden banquettes, antique crockery and an old transistor set give off an unrivalled vintage vibe. Visitors can sip a glass of local wine and taste local snacks under the colourful pennants of its charming terrace and in the gardens of the neighbouring Maison des Arts. A charming little place with a huge heart.

The Twelve at the Thon Hotel EU

Hidden between the ultra-modern bay windows of the Thon Hotel EU, The Twelve terrace unfolds like a patio. Full of stunning olive trees and climbing plants, this unsuspected urban oasis brings a breath of fresh air to the European Quarter. Vast sofas and colourful tables complete the picture. Before enjoying your drink, take a look at the surrounding rooftops and admire the chef's garden, planted with tomatoes, lettuce and cucumbers. It couldn't be more local!

The Grand Hospice and its garden

With its "outdoor cafe and lanterns" spirit, trendy bar and urban oasis, the Grand Hospice is one of a kind. The gardens of the former Pacheco Institute, a neoclassical complex with beautiful colonnades and a listed interior park, have become a meeting point for a wide range of social and cultural activities. Chat while having a drink, play pétanque with friends, take a chill yoga class or enjoy a healthy break amidst the greenery; this garden, which blooms in the summer and is decorated with festive lights in winter, is unmissable!
