The first time I was taken to the Institute of Natural Sciences when I was seven is a visit I’ll never forget; that herd of dinosaurs in that 19th-century glass and iron building created indelible memories. That reaction is what the museum hopes to provoke with its new permanent exhibit called “Living Planet”. The “modern” building extensions are 70 years old, so the Royal Institute has been renovating the interiors over the past few years, highlighting the natural light which pervades the buildings and extending the digital capabilities of the exhibitions to create an emotional bond between the visitor and the subject matter. “Living Planet” celebrates biodiversity. Going through some of the 37 million specimens in its reserves, the curators chose 850 to populate the new exhibit, which underlines the interdependence between the different species before exploring both the natural and man-made disruptions that threaten worldwide biodiversity.

The Horta Museum is located in the private house and studio of Victor Horta (1861-1947).
The Horta Museum is located in the private house and studio of Victor Horta (1861-1947). Built between 1898 and 1901 at 23-25, rue Américaine in Saint-Gilles, Brussels, the two buildings are typical of Art Nouveau at its height. The interior decoration has largely been retained, the mosaics, stained glass, and wall decorations forming a harmonious and elegant whole, down to the last detail.

New room on the restoration of Victor Horta's studio house
From 4 February onwards, you can discover the history of the museum's restoration since 1961 in the second drawing studio!
This room, refurbished thanks to the support of the Baillet Latour fund, will be incorporated into the permanent Museum tour.
Thanks to the support of the Baillet Latour Fund, the Horta Museum continues to provide its visitors with access to new areas within the house-cum-studio. Following the opening of the sewing room and darkroom (2018), and the top floor of the house (2019), the first drawing studio was opened in 2020; situated on the second floor of the studio building, it contains Victor Horta’s collection of plaster casts. This year, the second drawing studio, located on the same floor, will also be open to the public !
In this unostentatious room, which was originally occupied by a team of draughtsmen, visitors will be able to learn about the history of the restoration of this house-cum-studio. This room will be incorporated into the Museum tour.
On his return from America after the First World War, Victor Horta left his home and his studios and put both buildings in the Rue Américaine up for sale, moving into a house in the Avenue Louise. The two buildings were divided and the studio became a single family home.
Forty years later, the municipality of Saint-Gilles bought the house (1961). Work on the layout and restorations were carried out by Jean Delhaye, one of Victor Horta’s former students and a champion of his cause. Later, in 1989 and 2014, the second restoration project took place. This was directed by the architect Barbara Van der Wee, together with Françoise Aubry, the Museum’s Curator, whose story of the restoration process was awarded the Europa Nostra prize in 2014.
Through an animated film, the most iconic restoration operations are described in a highly effective and poetic manner, given the complexity of the numerous successive stages involved. It is possible to study this from a more technical angle by analysing and comparing the plans drawn up by Horta, from the first building permit filed in 1898 to the transformations carried out in 1906 and 1908. The longitudinal cross-sections and elevations of the four façades enable us to visualise the spaces that were transformed and restored during the two restoration projects, and they explain the development of elements that were added, dismantled and reconstructed.
In addition to using the film, plans and texts, the aim was also to give this history a tangible quality. Thematic colour charts have therefore been created, displaying the rich palettes of tones and textures to be found in the Museum. These make it easier for visitors to visualise the range of hues used by Horta and to appreciate the refined character of the house.
Each restoration project also brought together professional artisans and restorers, both men and women, who worked behind the scenes. The house-cum-studio has benefitted greatly from their skills and talents. Their portraits are displayed on the end wall as an additional reminder of the importance of expert craftsmanship.

New room on the restoration of Victor Horta's studio house
Lace Room
Through previously unseen pieces, recently acquired or specially retrieved from storage, you will plunge into the extraordinary history of Brussels lace. A fabric that has since disappeared.
Lace is an openwork fabric made with a needle or bobbins. The motifs are connected to each other by a background of stripes or mesh. Initially, it was made by hand and later it was mechanised. Lace is distinguished by its techniques, materials, motifs, colours, etc. Most of the time, it is the place where they were first produced that identifies them: Brussels, Mechelen, Valenciennes, Bruges, and so on.
Brussels lace has gained international renown over the centuries. Its finesse, quality and beauty made it the preferred textile of the elites from the 17th century. It found its way to the greatest royal courts of Europe, adorning the apparel of both men and women.
The lace owned by the museum is an integral part of Brussels’ heritage. Several of the items on exhibit are included in the inventory of moveable heritage of the Brussels-Capital Region. Discover an example of lace whose scalloped edges are made up of alternating leaves and flowers.

A piece of recently acquired needle lace
This scarf in point de gaze and cotton was made with a needle. It dates from the second half of the 19th century, but entered the museum’s collections only in 2021, thanks to the gift of the Hynderick de Theulegoet family.
It uses a wide variety of points, allowing every shade of white to create both the motif and the background. All the parts are made separately and then assembled on a background made with a needle.
The lace of Carine Gilson
This Babydoll slip from the Garden of Lace collection, Spring-Summer 2019, is made of a fuchsia mechanical lace stitched onto silk muslin. The stitching of mechanical lace onto silk is the trademark of the House of Carine Gilson. It thus perpetuates expertise in Brussels lace.
The creator has honoured us by agreeing to become the patron of the Lace Room. The museum regularly exhibits an item from her collections.

EDEN 2.023 · A New Perspective on Paradise
Within the framework of Art Nouveau Brussels 2023, twenty-five 80x120 photos by the photographer Violaine Alghisi mixing dance and architecture have been selected with the eyes and the heart for an immobile journey in the intimacy of the more confidential Masterpieces of Belgian Art Nouveau.
The work produced by photographer Violaine Alghisi for this new exhibition expresses in a singular way both the architectural dimension of bodies and the organic corporality of Art Nouveau architecture. A proposal of in-between for a new perspective on a Paradise free of any religious dimension, except to consider its natural immanence.
With EDEN 2.023, Violaine Alghisi exhumes with a gentle lightning the whole message of liberation and questioning of the classical norms and codes carried by the Art Nouveau in its time.
Silhouettes, sometimes sensual, sometimes enigmatic, but always free, stand out like ghosts brought back to life on the walls and stained-glass windows of these monuments, reflections of a bygone era but nevertheless very present.
In her photos, the calm of the place becomes a pretext for transgressing the common rules of museums: here, we dance on the furniture of the Villa Autrique, we choreograph the furniture of Hamesse and so much the worse for the frozen whiteness of the tablecloths, it is the majesty of the bodies in movement that asserts itself standing on the dining room table!
A tender but impetuous artist, she gives us a look that mixes past and present, still and animated, which has chosen the more confidential Masterpieces of Belgian Art Nouveau as its setting.
Her approach questions the biases of style to offer a delicately punk vision of a newly postulated life of a Belle Époque revisited...
Created in the context of Art Nouveau Brussels 2023, the exhibition is accessible free of charge during the opening hours and days of the Ultieme Hallucinatie.
Twenty-five 80x120 photos, colour or black and white, selected with the eye and the heart for an immobile journey into the mysteries of the Hôtel Cohn-Donnay, the Maison Autrique, the Hôtel Hannon, the Horta Museum and the Horta Chapel, or the Maison des Médecins de Charleroi...

De Ultieme Hallucinatie: Back to the roots
The Hotel Cohn-Donnay - better known today by the name of the Brasserie it houses - is a symbol of Art Nouveau and is reviving its long tradition of art and culture. After having been the setting for the music and intimate life of the virtuosa Marie Pleyel, and then a mecca for the nightlife of the 1980s, it is now destined to highlight and preserve the stories and heritage it houses.
Reopened to the public in 2019 by a lover of beautiful stones and the art of living, the building is resolutely accessible to all and now offers, in addition to its Belgian brasserie, event spaces and meeting rooms. It has also become a refuge for Brussels storytellers every third Friday of the month, the venue for the Hallucinated Visits by the Brussels zieverologist Phillipe Baudot, as well as for jazz projects orchestrated by Bénédicte Williot.
The long work of preserving and restoring the architectural heritage and the somewhat crazy project of creating the Marie Pleyel Museum are also well underway. However, it is possible that the opening of our Jazz Cabaret and our first classical concerts will precede them. A little time, a lot of work and a lot of fun ahead...
For Art Nouveau Brussels 2023, we are pleased to produce and host an exhibition combining the architecture of bodies with Art Nouveau and to host the closing night of the BANAD festival.
What do all these proposals have in common? Perhaps a desire for excellence and a little extra soul.

The Atomium. From Symbol to Icon
The exhibition 'The Atomium: from symbol to icon' is spread over 2 floors and the panorama. It tells the history of this pavillion of more than 50 years old. It has become the symbol of the city of Brussels and of Belgium.
The exhibition not only tells the story of the construction of the building and of Expo 58 but also of its decline at the end of the '90's before its renovation. And of its 'second ' life since 2006.
On 17th April 1958, the last universal world fair organised by Belgium was inaugurated on the Heysel site in Brussels.
A hugely colourful event, spreading a message full of boundless optimism, reflecting a society characterised by confidence in its future, Expo 58 inspires fond memories in our collective consciousness.
Using archived documents, photographs, souvenirs and videos from the era as well as countless models, this exhibition will take visitors on a journey back in time to this unforgettable, breathtaking event.
In the panorama the visitor gets extensive information about the location of Brussels' buildings and districts. Certain European and world cities are situated as well so the visitor can orientate himself. Finally he can compare images of Expo 58 with what he can see from the panorama today.
For some, this is the perfect opportunity to rediscover this enchanting experience; for others, who know nothing about Expo 58 and its passion for progress, this is a chance to learn about this magical time which still infuses the Atomium with its energy.
Symbol and « brand » of Expo 58, the star of Lucien De Rouck is unavoidable.
Lucien De Roeck (Belgium 1915-2002) dedicated his life to design,typographie and teaching. In 1954 he won the design competition designing the logo and poster for the Worldfair in Brussels that would take place in 1958.
The Expo-star, an elegant, asymmetric star, still is a recognizable symbol. The five rays represent the five continents, carrying out the humanistic message to the entire world. On the right side you can see a globe and the date. In the center of the star one can recognize an image of the Brussels city hall.
In 1958 this star was everywhere, on posters, streetcars, outfits of the hostesses, souvenirs...

To start this year, Constant celebrates the publication of the manual "How to Cypher Sex: A Manual for Collective Digital Self-Defense Guides" by the collective Cypher Sex. Constant happily invited Oddd to design this installation in the window.
To start this year, Constant celebrates the publication of the manual "How to Cypher Sex: A Manual for Collective Digital Self-Defense Guides". Constant supported the collective Cypher Sex in the making of this "how to" manual that will lay out strategies on how to write locally-oriented digital self-defense guides aimed at empowering LGBTQ* people, women, and sex workers. The manual is intended to help the writing of localised guides with basic outlines, resources, links, suggested approaches and interview questions relevant to different international locations that advocate self-empowerment through online identity management and other digital self-defence strategies.
Cypher Sex is a queer feminist collective aimed at empowering LGBTQ* people, women, and sex workers in their use of online services and digital tools through workshops, guides, and personalized consultancies. Constant happily invited Oddd to design this installation in the window.

Discover The Halle gate
Halle Gate is a magical monument which is more than 600 years old. Halle Gate is the final remnant of Brussels’ second walls and now home to a wonderful collection of artefacts and boasts many teaching aids which highlight its history and the history of its fortifications. At the top of the tower, you can enjoy a spectacular view of Brussels and its region from the round covered walkway.
You can also enjoy some incredible artefacts at Halle Gate, such as:
- The supposed crib ‘of Charles V’
This finely crafted crib, which is now being displayed in the Halle Gate Museum, was probably not intended for the future Emperor Charles V, as has often been claimed, but for his dad, Philip the Handsome. This much is clear from the coats of arms of his parents, Mary of Burgundy and Maximilian of Austria.
- Hunting spear equipped with firing pistols
Come to the ‘Back to Bruegel’ exhibition at Halle Gate and see the magnificent hunting spear equipped with two firing pistols for yourself. It is said to have belonged to Charles V, who really loved hunting, particularly on the land close to the Coudenberg Palace, which was his residence in Brussels.
- Necklace of the Nivelles harquebusier guild
You can see this magnificent item for yourself at the ‘Back to Bruegel’ exhibition at Halle Gate. It was worn by the harquebusier who won the annual archery competition. A fake bird was used as a target. The archer who knocked it off was named the king and was personally awarded the ‘guild necklace’ by

The Museum of Art and History will inaugurate on June 13th, covering over 1200 m², two new galleries dedicated to 19th-century decorative arts, Belgian Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Visitors will be able to admire numerous masterpieces, including, notably, as a monumental highlight, the restored and reconstructed winter garden of the Cousin house, according to the plans of Victor Horta.

Stoclet 1911 - Restitution is now on show at LAB·AN x Hotel van Eetvelde, following its debut at the Art and History Museum in Brussels. The exhibition presents a never-before-seen digital reconstruction of the interiors as they looked around 1911. It's a unique opportunity to explore the remarkable décor of this building, which has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 2009.
Result of a collaboration between urban.brussels, the ULB - Architecture Faculty La Cambre Horta and the Art & History Museum, initiated to mark the Brussels Art Nouveau Year 2023, this exhibition and the digital reconstruction presented in the form of a film are designed to enable visitors to explore the interiors of the Palais Stoclet, which has been on the very select list of Brussels buildings included on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 2009, and yet is still little known to the general public.
The virtual reconstruction of this palace (which reproduces the state of the palace between 1911 and 1918 and does not represent the existing situation) is based on precise archival sources and a detailed architectural analysis of its spaces, a task that kept the ULB team of experts busy for almost two years. This scientific study of the Stoclet Palace is part of a close collaboration between experts from the Brussels-Capital Region (Urban.brussels) and ULB (alICe Laboratory). Its realism reinforces the impression that visitors are being immersed in the building's original state, between 1911 and 1918: the public is discovering the palace exactly as the couple Suzanne Stevens and Adolphe Stoclet dreamed it would be.
Through this research, the Brussels Region hopes not only to make this knowledge accessible to as many people as possible, but also to build up a scientific information base on the spatial nature of the building and its remarkable decorations. Behind this digital documentation project, the research carried out by the AlICe laboratory at the Faculty of Architecture (ULB) aims to consolidate a knowledge base around the three-dimensional representation of the building, which will be enriched over time. The digitisation of the floors, service areas and gardens of the Palais Stoclet will be added to the work already carried out. The work of reconstituting the original art collection will also continue, so that this digital double of the building can gradually be reintegrated.

n May 2024, it rained for a whopping 23 days. Few were happy about that new record last spring, but the Sewer Museum is happy to elaborate on this topical issue. With our new theme, we would like to make the general public aware of solutions to manage rainwater more sustainably. Indeed, in cities, water finds it increasingly difficult to penetrate the soil.
Rain is an everyday topic that often comes up. The natural phenomenon continues to occupy our minds, from simple things like our weekend plans to serious concerns like climate change, heatwaves and floods.
But have you ever thought about what exactly happens after a rainstorm? What does rain do to our sewer system in Brussels and what effect does it have on the environment? And wouldn’t we be better off considering rain as a valuable resource rather than something to be disposed of as quickly as possible? All these questions and many more are addressed in the exhibition, through concrete examples and current, innovative solutions.

Rotonde
A circular structure of light and an original sound creation give the Atomium a new presence as night falls.
ROTONDE is a permanent light and sound installation situated around the lower dome of the Atomium.
A circular structure of LED lines follows the architecture of the rotunda, while a down-lighting system projects vertical beams toward the ground, structuring the space in a full 360-degree experience.
The installation unfolds in a cycle of approximately twenty minutes. Light movements, vertical descents and variations in intensity are fully synchronized with an original sound composition, composed of subtle rhythms, spatial textures and finely crafted transitions.
Certain sequences are deliberately minimal, almost motionless; others introduce greater movement and contrast. The programming is designed to evolve calmly throughout the evening, establishing a continuous and lasting presence.
The project is conceived as a spatial composition, developed specifically for this part of the Atomium and for the visitors’ journey. Light structures the space, highlights the building’s lines and amplifies its nighttime presence, offering a new way of experiencing the architecture through movement and rhythm.
The installation is designed to accompany the life of the Atomium every evening. It gives the monument a nocturnal identity, presenting it as a place that remains active, visible and inhabited after dark.
It forms part of a broader ambition to animate architectural heritage through contemporary digital creation.
Designed for a minimum duration of twelve months, the installation offers a contemporary interpretation of the Atomium while placing its architecture at the very center of the experience.

Jean Brusselmans - Painter by nature
In autumn 2026, Bozar will present a major retrospective of the painter Jean Brusselmans (1884–1953), the first comprehensive exhibition of his work since 1980. From the early 20th century onwards, Brusselmans developed a distinctive body of work, independent of artistic trends yet firmly rooted in painterly tradition. His deep connection to the Brabant landscape and his modest way of life are translated into an authentic and recognisable visual language, situated at the intersection of abstraction and figuration. Through some 120 works, the exhibition introduces visitors to the remarkable oeuvre of a still underappreciated Belgian artist. Dialogues with contemporaries such as Fernand Léger, Piet Mondrian and Rik Wouters offer a fresh perspective on his work.
The exhibition also highlights Brusselmans’ decorative commissions for the theatre, including the monumental sets he designed for the first French-language production of the opera Erwartung by Arnold Schoenberg at the Centre for Fine Arts in 1936. These lost stage designs are brought back to life by the contemporary Belgian painter Kristof Santy (b. 1987), who frequently draws inspiration from Brusselmans in his own work.

William Kentridge - I am not me, the horse is not mine
William Kentridge began his artistic career at the height of the political struggle against the apartheid regime in his native South Africa. His work bears witness to a profound commitment – at once social, political and poetic – that continues to shape his artistic practice to this day.
Kentridge’s artistic output ranges from drawings, animated films and sculptures to prints, installations and videos. These works often emerge while he is directing a theatre or opera production, another field to which he devotes his energies. I am not me, the horse is not mine, William Kentridge’s solo exhibition at Bozar, offers a comprehensive overview of his oeuvre from the early 1980s to the present day. Several of his major stage productions receive special attention. The exhibition highlights the performative and collaborative nature of Kentridge’s practice, in which he allows art to evolve into a space for political inquiry, historical reckoning and poetic transformation.
William Kentridge will take over one of Bozar’s major exhibition spaces, create site-specific works, and curate a rich, multidisciplinary programme. This is by no means the first time we have welcomed Kentridge to Brussels. He has a long-standing connection with the city, where he premiered his first opera (Faustus in Africa! 1995), and where Bozar presented his first solo exhibition in Europe in 1998.

"Presented at the Chapelle de Boondael in Ixelles from 5 to 29 November 2026, the exhibition The Expanded Image showcases the work of a collective of artists based at the Usquare studios. The project challenges the traditional boundaries of photography by reinventing its materiality in the digital age. By bringing photography into dialogue with other media, such as weaving, painting, collage, analogue photography and 3D printing, the artists transform the photographic image into texture, pattern and sculptural form.

Smithsonian Journey into deep space takes audiences on a journey to the far reaches of the Universe, right from the heart of Brussels at Tour & Taxis. Developed in collaboration with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), a research centre founded in 1890, the immersive experience draws on decades of astronomical research to explore stars, galaxies, exoplanets and black holes.
The exhibition features observations made by some of the world’s leading space observatories, including the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes and the Chandra X-ray Observatory. Through scientific data and discoveries, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the life cycle of stars, the formation of galaxies, worlds beyond our solar system and some of the most extreme phenomena in the cosmos.
Set within a 3D environment, the experience takes visitors among representations of thousands of galaxies, across the Milky Way and towards the Sun, where they can observe its activity up close. Along the way, they encounter exoplanets with extreme conditions, a star nearing the end of its life and the edge of a supermassive black hole. By bringing these distant worlds and phenomena into an immersive setting, the experience offers a tangible sense of the vast scale and extraordinary diversity of the Universe, while making some of the most complex astronomical phenomena easier to understand from an Earth-based perspective.

LUMSON presents the results of an artistic research project by artist Aernoudt Jacobs, developed in collaboration with iMAL, UHasselt/imo-imomec, FARI/ULB/VUB and De Hoge Rielen.
LUMSON presents the results of an artistic research project by artist Aernoudt Jacobs, developed in collaboration with iMAL, UHasselt/imo-imomec, FARI/ULB/VUB and De Hoge Rielen. The project explores how inaudible frequencies become perceptible by connecting a luminous speaker foil with an AI component that translates hidden frequencies into vocal sounds. The exhibition brings together installations, prototypes, workshop results and documentation material from this process.
The luminous speaker is created by screen-printing several layers onto a thin, flexible piezoelectric foil. Conductive and electroluminescent inks are applied and encapsulated so that the same flat surface can vibrate to produce sound while also emitting light and colors. Its innovation lies in uniting material and technology in a single surface, so that the resulting object becomes not merely a container for technical components but the speaker, light source, and visual composition itself. Hidden signals and waves are translated into voice and this creates an environment in which invisible signals become audible, visible and tangible at once — with the voice functioning both as metaphor and as a concrete result of this translation.
Across different workshops, the project evolved through encounters with artistic, academic, DIY, and school audiences, each revealing a different aspect of the luminous speaker and the inaudible phenomena surrounding it. Participants explored the creative potential of constructing and presenting the screen-printed speakers collectively, and developed the material and technical knowledge needed to improve their performance and durability. They also investigated how urban electromagnetic signals could be translated into AI-generated voices and audiovisual compositions, while younger participants explored connections between technology, nature, storytelling, and collaborative making.
Working with a different audience each time tested the project from multiple perspectives, generating varied forms of knowledge and expression. The process showed how collective experimentation can make complex technologies accessible, imaginative, and socially engaging. The exhibition presents around 70 printed speakers made by around 40 people, including workshop participants.

For thirty years, Kana Editions has been at the forefront of manga’s rise within the French-speaking cultural landscape. Through works that have become essential reading and a remarkable diversity of stories, it has enabled several generations of readers to discover a medium that has become a true global cultural phenomenon.
To mark this anniversary, the Brussels Comic Strip Museum presents MANGATOPIA: 30 Years of Manga from Kana!, an exhibition that invites the public to immerse themselves in this world. Thanks to a thoughtfully designed exhibition layout, a varied selection of works and exclusive accounts from leading mangaka and key figures on the Japanese scene, visitors can discover the many facets of an art form that has constantly reinvented itself.
Conceived as a museum exhibition in its own right, MANGATOPIA brings together in Brussels an exceptional collection of original artwork (some of which has never left Japan) and other rare pieces, offering an enriching insight into the history and aesthetics of manga. For the first time in the Belgian capital, these historical and artistic artefacts are brought together in a single exhibition, allowing the public to appreciate this heritage in all its richness.
Designed for enthusiasts and newcomers alike, MANGATOPIA celebrates creativity, the power of storytelling and manga’s extraordinary ability to bring together different generations and cultures. More than just an anniversary exhibition, it is an invitation to explore a boundless world of imagination and to understand why manga is now one of the most universal cultural languages.

The 2025–2026 Master’s students at ESA Saint-Luc are exhibiting the work they created during their residency
Every year, young artists complete their training in comic art with a project that marks the culmination of several years of research, experimentation and creative work. This exhibition brings together the work of Master’s 2 students from the École supérieure des Arts Saint-Luc in Brussels, produced during their residency at the Comic Art Museum.
For five months, the Comic Art Museum hosted the students in residence at the Maison Marc Sleen. This residency enabled the students to experience life in a studio, build a sense of community, and develop their final-year projects whilst already having one foot outside the school.
By opening its workspaces to these future professionals, the museum reaffirms its commitment to supporting contemporary creativity and nurturing emerging talent. This exhibition offers a glimpse into the richness of the visual and narrative styles currently shaping the young comics scene, whilst introducing readers to comic creators whose first books are set to be published in the coming years.

Bozar presents a major retrospective of the painter Jean Brusselmans (1884-1953), the first comprehensive exhibition of his work since 1980. From the early 20th century onwards, Brusselmans developed a distinctive body of work, independent of artistic trends yet firmly rooted in painterly tradition. His deep connection to the Brabant landscape and his modest way of life are translated into an authentic and recognisable visual language, situated at the intersection of abstraction and figuration. Through some 120 works, the exhibition introduces visitors to the remarkable oeuvre of a still underappreciated Belgian artist. Dialogues with contemporaries such as Fernand Léger, Piet Mondrian and Rik Wouters offer a fresh perspective on his work. The exhibition also highlights Brusselmans' decorative commissions for the theatre, including the monumental sets he designed for the first French-language production of the opera Erwartung by Arnold Schoenberg at the Centre for Fine Arts in 1936. These lost stage designs are brought back to life by the contemporary Belgian painter Kristof Santy (b. 1987), who frequently draws inspiration from Brusselmans in his own work.

Identita - The Story of Czech Graphic Design
From 16 October 2026 to 7 March 2027, the Design Museum Brussels presents Identita – The Story of Czech Graphic Design, an exhibition dedicated to more than a century of graphic design in the Czech Republic. The exhibition explores the role of graphic design in shaping the country’s identity and bears witness to the profound political, social and cultural changes that have marked its history.
Located in Brussels, the capital of Belgium and home to the main institutions of the European Union, the Design Museum Brussels also aims to serve as a showcase for European creativity and the diversity of its design cultures. With this in mind, the museum regularly hosts temporary exhibitions that offer a particular European country’s perspective on its history and design culture. Identita is part of this initiative, inviting visitors to Design Museum Brussels to discover the history and distinctive characteristics of Czech graphic design, while placing them within a broader European context.
Graphic design plays an important role in the way a country presents itself and shapes its identity. Posters, books, magazines, logos and national symbols not only tell the story of their time, but also reflect the social developments of their era. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the development of graphic design in the Czech Republic, and, prior to 1993, in Czechoslovakia, has therefore been closely linked to the country’s turbulent history. The 20th century brought profound changes, from the establishment of an independent state and two world wars to the succession of two totalitarian regimes. After 1989, society and the economy underwent a fundamental transformation, with the transition from a socialist planned economy to a market economy. All of these developments were reflected in the country’s graphic culture.
Through original works and reproductions, the exhibition introduces visitors to some of the most striking examples of Czech graphic design and to the designers behind them. Each work is presented within its cultural, historical and political context. This makes it possible to see how graphic design and society have influenced one another over the years.
Identita at the Design Museum Brussels brings this story to a new audience, offering visitors the opportunity to discover how Czech graphic design evolved over the course of nearly a century in dialogue with politics, technology, everyday life and cultural trends. The exhibition is curated by Filip Blažek and Linda Kudrnovská, in collaboration with curator David Korecký and the team at the Design Museum Brussels for the Brussels presentation.
The touring exhibition Identita is a joint project of the Typo association, Mowshe studio, the Museum of Literature and the network of Czech Centres. The graphic design was created by Marvil studio. The architectural design was developed by Adam Blažek, Jan Kloss and Matěj Činčera of studio Okolo.

As Halloween approaches, the gallery ZazafromBrussels invites you to discover a completely different world, that of Renier Semidey, a self-taught Brussels-based artist of Cuban origin being showcased in Belgium for the very first time with this aptly titled exhibition...
They are there, at least in appearance. They answer emails, move from one meeting to the next, and uphold the codes of professional courtesy. But are they still alive?
In "The Working Dead," Renier Semidey transforms corporate artifacts into weapons of visual rebellion. The exhibition brings together works created in the very heart of bureaucratic routine: drawings in ballpoint pen, ink, and marker on office paper; large India ink drawings; and acrylic paintings on canvas.
Influenced by Expressionism and Art Brut, Renier’s work subverts the sanitized language of corporate jargon. His hybrid, unsettling figures dismantle the mask of efficiency imposed by the institution. Oversized jaws, panoptic gazes, and heads turned inward embody a humanity in a state of decay.
Balancing the urgency of lines drawn on office paper against the raw intensity of acrylic paint, the exhibition portrays a form of organizational alienation in which the individual is gradually drained of their substance.

Icons, 20 years Designer of the Year
In 2006, the first “Designer of the Year” award was presented in Belgium. The prize was originally established by the Interieur Biennale and the magazines Knack Weekend and Le Vif Weekend, and was awarded that year to Brussels-based designer Alain Berteau. Over the years, various partners joined the initiative, and it grew into a well-established reference in the Belgian design landscape.
Twenty years later, the list of laureates reads as a best-of-the-best of what the country has to offer in contemporary design: from ceramic designers and silversmiths to product and lighting designers. Concepts such as innovation, originality, and ecology are often central to their work. The list includes names such as Muller Van Severen, Alain Gilles, Nedda El-Asmar, Julien Renault, and Linde Freya Tangelder. On the occasion of the 20th edition of the title, all twenty names come together in an exhibition at MAD Brussels, on view from 1 October to 12 December.

A ceramic installation evoking a rural interior and textiles made from reclaimed cardboard collected in Brussels. Following its annual tradition, the group exhibition 'Future Generation: The MAD Graduation Show' celebrates the winners of the MAD Graduation Prize 2026 while showcasing their innovative graduation projects. No fewer than seven institutions are represented in the exhibition: Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, College of Art and Design, Ateliers Saint Luc, École supérieure des arts Saint Luc, Haute Ecole Francisco Ferrer, La Cambre and LUCA School Of Arts. From textile design and interior design to industrial product development and fashion design, a total of 14 winners are honoured at MAD Brussels from 1 October to 12 December.

Modern Slavery
Starting November 5, 2026, the Géopolis team will present a new two-part exhibition series on modern slavery.
The first part showcases the work of American photographer Lisa Kristine. Since 2009, she has been documenting forced labor and human trafficking where they occur: quarries and brick kilns in Nepal, gold mines and fishing in Ghana, mica and textile industries in India, and fishing fleets in Thailand.
The second part is dedicated to Afghanistan, as seen through the lens of French photojournalist Élise Blanchard, who documented the country’s history from 2018 to 2025. Her fieldwork offers a glimpse into the daily lives of women and girls under the Taliban regime.

Claire Hilgers explores intimacy and the slow contemplation of the passing of time.
Inspired by poetic texts as well as the Japanese philosophical and aesthetic concept of Wabi-Sabi, Claire Hilgers collects traces of lived experience.
At Vertige art gallery, she is presenting a series of drawings, collages, assemblages on paper and prints of various tree leaves gathered during the autumn.
By highlighting humble materials – everyday objects or elements from nature – she creates works that reveal the cycle of the seasons and the nature of impermanence.
The exhibition’s title, ‘Effeuillages’, suggests a gradual stripping away that reveals the beauty of imperfection and simplicity.

Korean Traditional Painting in Alter-age; Pure and Hybrid
This exhibition brings together historical masterpieces of Korean painting as well as works by four contemporary Korean artists. Opening in Brussels on September 17, the exhibition explores how Hangukhwa (traditional Korean painting) continues to be reinterpreted and transformed today.
Historical masterpieces ranging from the late Joseon period to the 20th century are presented alongside contemporary creations by four Korean artists: Jean Song, Choe Sooryeon, Choi Haeri, and Hwang Kyumin.
KOREAN PAINTING: Tradition Meets the Present
At the heart of the exhibition is muninhwa, or Korean literati painting, a tradition rooted in the spirit of the seonbi ("literati scholar"). Rather than treating tradition as something frozen in the past, the exhibition explores how these established artistic practices are learned, repeated, and reinterpreted within modern temporalities.
The exhibition features masterpieces from the collections of the Ilmin Museum of Art and the Ilmin Cultural Foundation, highlighting nine historical figures—Jeong Seon, Yi Gwangsa, Kang Sehwang, Kim Jeonghui, Jang Seungeop, An Jungsik, Lee Sangbeom, No Soohyeon, and Pak Nosoo—alongside four contemporary artists. Highlights of the exhibition include Calligraphy and Paintings of Kang Sehwang (1789) and Flower and Bird (c. 1860) by Jang Seungeop.
COPY, REINTERPRET, CREATE
A key concept of the exhibition stems from three traditional methodologies of learning and artistic creation: mo (模, to copy), im (臨, to study and imitate), and bang (倣, to adapt).
Contemporary artists Jean Song, Choe Sooryeon, Choi Haeri, and Hwang Kyumin revisit these fundamental principles from a modern perspective. By recombining these classic methods, they place traditional Korean visual practices into a dynamic dialogue with contemporary sensibilities and materials.
Visitors will be able to discover a variety of works, ranging from the ink painting The First Window (2023) by Jean Song and Practice for Decorating a Shrine (2026) by Choe Sooryeon, to the oil painting Water Column with Liliums (2022) by Choi Haeri and Mo-Im-Bang (The Gathering Room): copy, paint, and stroke (2026) by Hwang Kyumin.
PURE AND HYBRID: What Makes a Tradition?
The subtitle Pure and Hybrid raises broader questions about the evolution of "tradition". The term Hangukhwa ("Korean painting") carries a complex modern history, having emerged during the post-liberation period to construct a decolonized artistic identity following Japanese colonial rule. Rather than asserting a single "pure" origin, Hangukhwa has continuously evolved through constant dialogue with contemporary art. The exhibition approaches tradition not as a frozen relic, but as a living and dynamic cultural system, permanently shaped by hybridity and active reinterpretation.

Presented as part of "2026 Touring K-Arts", a public-private initiative aimed at introducing Korean arts to an international audience, the exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), Arts Council Korea, and Hyundai Sungwoo Holdings.

Augusta Gallery presents Soft Assemblies, an exhibition highlighting innovative techniques of joining, weaving, and braiding. Through research and experimentation, six European designers interlace reused and natural elements to create new forms and transform spaces.
For this exhibition, Agnieszka Mazur crafts sculptural lamps and objects from discarded sand, inspired by the traditional sandcastles on the beaches of Zeeland. The collaboration between Amandine David and Esmé Hofman explores contrasts by combining digital techniques and basketry to create sculptural containers. Textile designers Juliette Berthonneau and Justine Gaignault experiment with textures, juxtaposing dense patterns with translucent areas as they felt linen and wool weaves into decorative and functional textiles. Laure Kasiers unveils new wall rugs featuring abstract motifs, employing a technique she developed using interlaced strips of wool and linen.
The exhibition explores a new facet of the transformation of materials through connections, intertwining, and the rhythm of successive layers.

Havind graduated in graphic design from the University of the Arts London (UAL Camberwell) and subsequently in jewellery design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, she has developed a visual art practice enriched by the precision of drawing, the rigour of craftsmanship and the power of colour.
Camille Pennequin’s world invites us to pause time and let our minds wander. Drawing inspiration from her travels, the artist goes beyond simply depicting the landscape to capture its emotion, light and atmosphere: the enchanting reflections of Venice, the brightness of Menorca and the mystery of Calabria all become fragments of memory.
On the canvas, gouache and oil pastels intertwine in a tactile interplay of textures and reliefs, brought to life by free-flowing brushstrokes and vibrant colours. The energy of the moment blends with memory, making each work a poetic bridge between recollection and wonder.

His images focus on gestures, faces, bodies, silences, and the ordinary scenes that—better than any long-winded explanation—tell the stories of men and women. It is a deeply human, attentive, and committed form of photography, where the distance between the observer and the observed tends to vanish.

Soleil Noir presents this autumn at Villa Empain nearly one hundred works by exclusively Belgian artists. Spanning 130 years of artistic creation, the exhibition invites visitors to explore the work of Léon Spilliaert alongside major figures of modern and contemporary art.
The exhibition unfolds through themes such as the self-portrait, the nude, melancholy, landscape, and the North Sea. An exceptional selection of more than thirty works by Léon Spilliaert enters into dialogue with creations by his contemporaries, including James Ensor, Constant Permeke, Edgar Tytgat, George Minne, and Henry Van de Velde. Discover around thirty of these pieces, which bear witness to everyday life and the history of the Marolles district during the interwar period.
Kurt Peiser (1887–1962), takes an honest yet sensitive view of his adopted home city of Brussels. He walks around the capital, paying special attention to the Marolles. In this way he becomes a uniquely close observer of that neighbourhood. Through his engravings and drawings, the artist captures the everyday spirit of its narrow streets, bustling cul-de-sacs and the people living in the shadow of the Palace of Justice. He immortalises the men and women he meets in the taverns along the Rue Haute and in the public spaces. Rejecting all forms of sentimentalised misery, Kurt Peiser’s portraits reveal the dignity, inner lives and humanity of the people who make up the fabric of this neighbourhood. A century later, his works still have the power to move us.
In 2025, the Brussels City Museum acquired a collection of 79 works by Kurt Peiser. Created mainly in the 1920s, around thirty of them are on display at the Brussels City Museum. This major acquisition allows the museum to continue with its mission: to tell the story of Brussels in all its richness and highlight the lives of the men and women who have lived in the city, shaping it and giving it life over the years.

At some point the luggage belt stops turning, and people start to leave. Three suitcases are left.
Out of one of the suitcases five characters appear.
The moon, a plane, two people and patience.
They have no problem going on strike.

Suzanne Cleerdin is an artist active in Brussels making performative and audiovisual works. She is also a DJ under the alter ego Mandy Pixel. Her sets and work revolve around the familiar while they are at the same time constantly trying to disrupt this, and are like being around many strangers: awkward and stimulating. Her work blurs and redefines the boundaries between film, sound, and performance, maintaining a militant yet optimistic approach.

In the autumn of 2026, La Loge presents a new work of Michael Lin, an influential artist from a generation of Taiwanese practitioners who gained international prominence in the 1990s and 2000s. Michael Lin (1964) lives and works between Taipei and Brussels. This exhibition marks his first solo presentation in Belgium. Lin will create a large-scale, site-specific installation. He is known for his vivid, expansive works that draw on traditional Taiwanese textile patterns. His practice operates at the intersection of visual art, design, and craft, and has been widely presented in leading biennials and international museum exhibitions.

Two generations, two worlds, two approaches and a multitude of materials come together in dialogue in Hectare’s new exhibition.
A regular at the gallery since Miroir Miroir with his reworkings of camera lenses, Jiro Kamata (b. 1978, Hirosaki, Japan – lives and works in Munich) propels them into new dimensions. These ‘optical gems’, once destined to capture light and preserve memories, now give way to laboratory-grown quartz. The real and the unreal pass through the sensory portal of his Celestial Eyes. Mutations, distortions and reflections take centre stage in a parallel world inspired by astronomy, mythology and spirituality.
Extreme meticulousness and the utmost attention to detail are echoed in the illusions – very different, yet equally fascinating – created by Benedict Haener (b. 1992, lives and works in Lucerne, Switzerland). Under the title Kill your darling, from sandpaper to sugar cubes and sour sweets, the artist reinterprets the everyday, pulverises precious materials, initially devaluing them only to imbue them with new value through unique pieces that are wildly technical and irresistibly playful.
Whilst each of these creators’ approaches embodies a pop aesthetic that is resolutely contemporary, they nonetheless contain a nostalgic or fantastical element woven into their work.
It is at this intersection that the scenographic collaborators of Trouble parfait come into play. Through the speckled ceramic of her photo frames, Léna Babinet (b. 1994, Paris – lives and works in Brussels) creates a disruption. The image is missing; the reflection is absent. What remains is the object – recognisable as ever – and its intimate mystery, its vibrant presence, its familiar strangeness. As if freshly picked, Olga Flór’s (b. 1995, based in Eindhoven) sunflowers capture the fleeting and the shifting at the heart of a boldly impure eternity.

INUIT - Impressions of the Canadian Far North
With nearly 250 artworks on display, this major exhibition offers the European public a rare opportunity to discover contemporary Inuit art. This expo shows the Inuit world, exploring traditions, Arctic fauna, and contemporary concerns such as climate change. Using prints, drawings and sculptures, these artists explore the human-animal relationship, identity and the transformation of landscapes.
With nearly 250 artworks on display, this exhibition offers the European public a rare opportunity to discover contemporary Inuit art. Moving beyond an ethnographic approach, the exhibited works are first and foremost those of artists whose creations engage with the major challenges of our time and with
the authentic voices of the Inuit communities of Nunavut and Nunavik.
Using prints, drawings and sculptures, these artists explore the human-animal relationship, along with concepts such as memory, identity and the transformation of landscapes and territories.
Inspired by the collection assembled by the Belgian poet Carl Norac, with additional contributions from several major European museums, the exhibition highlights the rich variety of materials and the diversity of artistic techniques.

Autoworld 40 Years – Looking back to the future
From 11 September to 13 December, Autoworld will bring back to the museum the crème de la crème of more than 100 temporary exhibitions. The exhibition will feature cars and motorcycles that have appeared in one of Autoworld’s many past exhibitions and that each have a special link with the history of the museum.

The exhibition will feature cars and motorcycles that have appeared in one of Autoworld’s many past exhibitions and that each have a special link with the history of the museum.
‘Autoworld 40 Years – Looking back to the future’ will not be a classic retrospective, but an eclectic and surprising look back at 40 years of Autoworld. Visitors will discover vehicles ranging from pre-war models to modern supercars, including the Bugatti Type 35, the Lamborghini Miura, the rare Muntz Jet, the unique Toyota 2000GT Targa from James Bond, the “flying” Citroën DS and the Porsche 918.
The latter is coming at the request of the public. In July, Autoworld asked visitors which cars they would like to see again at the museum. The answers were enthusiastic and remarkably diverse, but one thing became clear once again: supercars remain extremely popular. The Porsche 918 clearly stood out as the most requested car. We are therefore delighted to announce its presence.
Each vehicle will be linked to the exhibition in which it was once displayed. The exhibition will also include a wall presenting an overview of all the exhibitions Autoworld has organised over the years. A short video will summarise 40 years of Autoworld through images, moments and memories from the museum’s history.

From June 25, 2026, to January 10, 2027, the Horta Museum presents the exhibition Art Nouveau versus Art Deco? 1850–1950: A Century in 31 Seats. The exhibition features thirty chairs by leading designers, from Victor Horta and Henry van de Velde to Le Corbusier and Marcel Breuer, offering insight into a century of transformation in design and architecture in the Western world. Although Art Nouveau and Art Deco are often seen as opposites, this exhibition brings them into dialogue through the chair, an iconic object in interior architecture. The chair serves as the central thread and illustrates how designers are connected across generations.

In the summer of 2026, the Fashion & Lace Museum invites you to discover the simplicity of clothing. Spanning more than two centuries of history, this new exhibition looks back at moments when clothing leaned towards simplicity, functionality, and naturalness. Often associated with luxury, glamour, and novelty, fashion is revealed here as a mirror of cultural and social change. A theme that, until now, has been little studied.
Simplicites begins at the end of the 18th century. The philosophy of the Enlightenment, along with medical and hygienist discourse, called for a profound reform of the way people dressed. A return to nature manifested itself in a rejection of corrective artifices, new cuts, breathable materials, and an aesthetic vocabulary inspired by Antiquity. The clothing ideal became a reflection of a new lifestyle combining comfort, freedom of the body, and closeness to nature.
The exhibition is divided into six chapters, each highlighting the different aspects of this simplicity. Drawn from history, the pieces shown in these thematic capsules reveal the continuity, resurgence, and paradoxes of this aesthetic. Discover this lesser-known side of fashion history.

Lost and Found. Japanese Photography
From 3 September to 20 December, the exhibition Lost and Found explores themes of memory, disaster, disappearance and renewal in Japanese photography through a selection of works from the collection of the A Foundation, complemented by exceptional loans.
Lost and Found takes its title from the memory project organised by Japanese photographer Munemasa Takahashi in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami that hit the Pacific coast of Japan in March 2011. The project works with a vast accumulation of family photographs discovered in the ruins of the city of Yamamoto in the Miyagi prefecture. Damaged, marked or partly obliterated by the effects of water and mud, these snapshots spoke of a vanished world. An installation forming part of this project, a wall of ghosts, opens this exhibition devoted to the ambivalent power of images—images of a world already vanished or yet coming into being, images of a Japan in the grip of omnipresent catastrophe and seized at the same time by an explosive vitality endlessly renewed.
The exhibition draws on the collection of the A Foundation to present a selection of works for the most part by women photographers, too often omitted from canonical accounts of Japanese photography.
Among the photographers represented, figures such as Kenji Ishiguro, Ishiuchi Miyako or Hiromi Tsuchida have concerned themselves with the still tangible effects of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, while others, like Ryūji Miyamoto, Lieko Shiga and Munemasa Takahashi, have focused on such expressions of telluric forces as the Kobe earthquake of 1995 or the tsunami of March 2011.
For counterpoint, the exhibition also includes a selection of photographic series from the 1970s and '80s, rarely shown or only recently rediscovered. There we find the flashy colour of takenoko-zoku dancers, the weekend heroes photographed by Noriko Shibuya; the dense crowds of Aomori’s Nebuta festival, photographed by Tatsuki Sugimoto; the televisual experiment of Masao Mochizuki and Mutsuko Yoshida; and the formal innovation of photographers like Nobuyoshi Araki, Satomi Nihongi, Yutaka Takanashi and Eiko Yamazawa.
An exhibition ambivalently suspended, “half awake, half asleep in the water” in the words that Asako Narahashi chose as title for one of the series shown here, in which the artist, half submerged, reveals to us the instability of the world.

BeLikha, a Filipino diaspora art collective based in Belgium, is pleased to present No Need to Export, a diaspora exhibition that considers the pressure placed on diaspora communities to make themselves legible, to explain their humour, soften contradictions, package culture, and translate identity for an outside audience. It runs from 18 October to 12 December at Mundo-B Matonge, Brussels.
BeLikha is pleased to present No Need to Export, a Filipino diaspora exhibition bringing together Filipino artists based in Belgium.
The exhibition considers the pressure placed on diaspora communities to make themselves legible, to explain their humour, soften contradictions, package culture, and translate identity for an outside audience.
No Need to Export turns away from that expectation.
Across different practices, the participating artists engage memory, labour, faith, care, humour, desire, class, migration, and contradiction. The works do not attempt to offer a single image of Filipino identity. Instead, they make space for what may remain coded, intimate, excessive, sentimental, devotional, uncomfortable, or difficult to translate.
What happens when Filipino artists do not perform culture as hospitality, nostalgia, decoration, or proof of integration? What becomes possible when meaning is allowed to remain partly untranslated?

The exhibition at Fondation CAB brings together recent works by Edgar Sarin alongside works by Sol LeWitt, Cy Twombly, Robert Barry, Peter Buggenhout, Niele Toroni, Miquel Barceló, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Louise Lawler, Joseph Beuys, Merry Alpern, Brice Marden, and Nan Goldin.
Borrowed from Johann Sebastian Bach, the title Matthäus-Passion refers here to a composition of autonomous voices, in which each presence acts upon the others.
Passion is understood here as a state, one of intensity, where works coexist and test one another. The artist stands amid that which has shaped him, not to produce a synthesis, but to sustain its living tension, beyond homage.
Matthäus-Passion is a place where looking becomes an undeniably physical experience; where art history is no longer a backdrop but an active material; where works do not merely respond to one another ; they persist alongside us.

Discover the paintings of Jess Sutton, an artist from Uccle, from Thursday, September 17, through Friday, November 6. Jess Sutton was born in England and settled in Belgium in 2011. Her paintings are inspired by landscapes, the sky, and the botanical world. The sky has such freedom. The clouds drift unchecked as they cross different countries and continents. This shared space has an incredible way of becoming a kind of mirror, going beyond the visual by being able to both reflect and create mood. These skies are always attached to a moment, which then becomes a memory. Translating them using paint shifts them. The wisps of time that the wind whisks away, hover. Becoming static they gain a second life. They also gain a title, the weight of the paint and canvas and its support: they gain gravity. They start a new journey with a new meaning and its attached memories, for whoever is looking at them brings with them their own stories about the sky. Observations | Waarnemingen, is a short, experimental film by artist Jess Sutton in collaboration with The Royal Meteorological Institute, Belgium and Ennea sounds. The film explores our personal connection with the sky through people who know and understand it so completely; scientists working at the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium. The sky unites and touches us all on this fractured planet. As it crosses borders and boundaries, we explore the precious poetry of this shifting, collective territory and discover the direct impact that climate change is having on the planet. This autumn, AMVB presents the retrospective “Alles es Just!” about the Pogge Friends. You’ll discover Pogge in all its forms through objects, photos, drawings and archival materials. Together with Sputnik non-profit, many activities are organized around the exhibition. By the end of the festive year, you’ll know everything about Pogge.
This autumn, the Pogge Friends are featured in a major retrospective at the AMVB. The exhibition focuses on Pogge in his many forms, with a wide range of objects, drawings, photos, archival documents, and of course his ceremonial figure. The title “Alles es Just!” refers both to Pogge’s 19th-century heroic deeds and to the way the festival of the same name explored Schaarbeek’s intangible heritage over 10 years.
In collaboration with Sputnik vzw, AMVB brings Pogge’s world to life through numerous side activities. By the end of the festive year, you will truly know everything about Pogge.

At the turn of the 19th century, workers protested against unfair labour conditions by deliberately working badly, slowing down or degrading production, or putting machinery out of action. Today’s workers —whether they are warehouse staff or startup employees— deploy micro-resistance tactics to defy the algorithm-driven intensification of labour, exposing workplace abuses, outsmarting algorithms and organising collective pushback.
Likewise, contemporary artists embrace sabotage as a tool to dismantle oppressive systems. For them, it’s a form of creative resistance, bridging historical labour struggles with modern battles against exploitation, marginalisation and democratic backsliding.
The exhibition invites reflection on urgent questions: Where are today's creative acts and technologies of unmaking” that disrupt the exploitative mechanisms of capitalism? How do artists mobilise inventiveness, storytelling and mischief to produce a ‘poetry of dysfunction’? And, finally, will the machines join the rebellion?

Portia Zvavahera: Kuzviramba Mamuri
Zimbabwean artist Portia Zvavahera’s large-scale painterly compositions mix printmaking and painting techniques to record scenes, human figures and ghostly creatures that visit her in the otherworldly plane that opens up when the conscious mind goes to rest.
Zvavahera has developed a distinctive artistic language that embodies the visible and invisible force fields born from her own “inner battles.” Her work, which weaves together personal and collective experience, is animated by a syncretic blend of Christian traditions and the spiritual dimensions of Shona culture in Zimbabwe.
The exhibition in WIELS encompasses early paintings exploring themes akin to the artist’s experience of womanhood, dreamscapes incorporating elements of her surroundings such as leaves and lace, all the way to her most recent venture into ceramics. While hinting at traditions of Zimbabweanfiguration, textile patterns and motifs of religious iconography, the work makes space for a shared, affective vocabulary of loss, love, grief, and joy.

Atelier ouvert : Around Arié Mandelbaum
With Atelier Ouvert, the Jewish Museum of Belgium extends the exhibition beyond its walls into the surrounding neighbourhood. While the museum building is closed for renovation, around ten paintings by Arié Mandelbaum are presented in venues within walking distance of the museum. Shown in a variety of settings, they engage with new audiences and new contexts.
These displacements create unexpected correspondences, tensions and affinities, allowing the works to resonate beyond the conventional exhibition space and into everyday life.
Born in 1939, Arié Mandelbaum grew up in a Jewish family of Polish origin near Brussels South Station. He created the greater part of his oeuvre in Brussels, where he established and relocated his studios over the decades. Since the late 1950s, his paintings have woven together collective history, political commitment and personal experience. Over time, his visual language has become increasingly distilled, placing traces, erasure and memory at its centre. Fragile figures, overlooked histories and the violence of history emerge in compositions where white is not an absence, but an active force.
The exhibition unfolds across CINEMATEK, Cinéma Galeries, the Maison des Arts et de la Culture Sociale (MACS – Grands Carmes), the Bruegel Cultural Centre, the Brussels Public Social Welfare Centre (CPAS), Maison CFC, Théâtre des Tanneurs and the Jewish Museum of Belgium. Guided tours, public conversations, film screenings and encounters with the artist will accompany the project, extending the resonances the works generate as they move from one place to another.

What the Land Remembers — Counter-Archives from Iran
In times of repression, recording becomes defiance. What the Land Remembers presents Iran’s Parking Video Library—a 20-year counter-archive. This exhibition, two years in the making, presents rarely seen installations, experimental films, and rediscovered tapes that bear witness to the resilience of Iranian artists.
In times of repression, recording becomes an act of defiance. At a moment when war is waged over Iran and communication with the country is constantly under threat, the need to preserve history grows more urgent. This exhibition, two years in the making, feels more important now than ever. With institutionalized terror, internet blackouts, bombings and the destruction of archives, every image becomes a lifeline: a witness, a storyteller and a guardian of collective memory.
What the Land Remembers shows how moving images can defy official narratives and protect the stories that political powers try to erase. At its heart lies the Parking Video Library, an independent counter-archive founded in Tehran in 2004 by artist and curator Amirali Ghasemi. For over two decades, it has safeguarded a fragile yet essential collection of Iranian and transnational films: documentaries, experimental works and personal recordings. Created under censorship, risk and scarcity, it remains to this day a rare space for education, preservation and community-building in a country with little institutional support for experimental media.
The exhibition features rarely seen installations, rediscovered tapes, experimental films as well as early digital works that emerged during Iran’s transition from analog to digital. Through two thematic constellations, it traces the evolution of Iranian artistic production from the 1990s to the present day.
Revisit — Early Encounters restages early experiments in their original form, shaped by the aftermath of war and limited cultural infrastructures. They bear witness to the resilience of artists working outside official frameworks.
Southwest, on the other hand, highlights contemporary works that focus on Iran’s oil-rich southwestern region. They reveal the ecological and geopolitical impacts of extraction, war and colonialism.
By presenting these works outside of Iran, the exhibition reimagines the archive as an active space for circulation, transmission and sharing. In a time when cultural memory is under threat, displaying these works is an act of preservation, public testimony and resistance. Join us in exploring how the camera and the archive can become powerful tools against erasure.

Tapta meets Judd
A key figure in contemporary Belgian sculpture, Tapta, born Maria Wierusz Kowalski (1926–1997), is today receiving the renewed recognition she deserves. Originally trained in textile arts, the Belgian artist of Polish origin began to develop her sculptural practice from the 1980s onwards, using neoprene, a synthetic rubber.
The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium preserve two works that mark this artistic trajectory. One of them, Néoflexibles 2, has not been shown to the public for many years and will be exceptionally presented on this occasion.
As part of the Collection Meets programme, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium create dialogues between their collections and those of other collectors – in this instance, several original works by Tapta come from the collection of Maurice Verbaet and from another private collection.This edition brings together Tapta and Donald Judd (1928–1994), two artists of the same generation who, on opposite sides of the Atlantic, each contributed to rethinking the relationship to space while working with industrial materials.
This encounter forms part of a broader project aimed at bringing renewed visibility to the Royal Museums’ remarkable collection of modern and contemporary art.

Casual/Tease as part of The Memorial to Those Who Did Not Fall in War
The Memorial for Those Who Did Not Fall in War, a nomadic lab developed by Columbia University’s Global Center for Peace Innovation, arrives in Brussels with Casual/Tease.

We think we know what harm looks like. From breaking news to social media, we are saturated with a constant stream of images of victims set against collapsed facades, darkened walls, dust hanging in the air, and streets brought to a halt under rubble. In this flow of images, we learn where to look for casualty and, just as crucially, where not to: within the uninterrupted course of day-to-day routine. Casual/Tease lingers exactly where nothing seems to happen, within the casual continuity of everyday life: a quiet view from a window onto a flowering boulevard, a household ladder leaning within reach, a handmade ceramic vessel ready to hold a bouquet. Each work in Casual/Tease first appears as a small, innocent fragment of daily life, caught in a fleeting moment of ease. Look a little longer, however, and that ease begins to fracture. The window view borrows the gaze of a military drone; the ladder becomes the impossible reach for food amid genocide; the delicate vessel reveals the form of a grenade, handmade in wartime Japan. To look here, then, is not simply to uncover what was hidden, but to confront what perception itself has been trained to overlook.
What comes into view is a dispersed field of implication in which neither injury nor agency remains confined to the site of war. First, the works bring us face to face with those who produce its casualties from spaces that still carry the appearance of casual life: from bright university laboratories associated with human progress where technologies of warfare take shape, through spacious offices where their production is financed and their sale negotiated, along everyday routes of commerce where weapons move among the ordinary flow of goods, to the safe distance from which armies deploy remote warfare technologies, preserving the appearance of everyday life here while bringing it to a halt elsewhere. The exhibition extends this encounter, too, to those who live with war’s casualties in places where everyday life appears to have resumed: walking across poisoned ground, breathing contaminated air, inhabiting landscapes scattered with the remnants of past wars, and living among materials in which military violence quietly persists long after the moment of impact has disappeared from view. In holding these two ends of the same continuum together, Casual/Tease resists the structures that bind them, reaching toward another kind of casual reality; one that leaves no casualties in its wake.

The House of European History explores Europe’s colonial legacy in its new temporary exhibition “Postcolonial?”
Starting with the structural foundations of European colonialism, going through how Europeans preserved power as their empires collapsed and in what manner that affected newly independent countries, the exhibition takes us to present times. It invites us to reflect on the ways colonial history still shapes life today.
Following the Second World War, colonial power seemed to crumble. From 1945 to the end of the twentieth century, more than 80 colonies overcame European rule and declared independence. After decades or even centuries of resistance to brutal oppression, their victories appeared to mark a decisive break with the past. But appearances can be deceiving.
How did the colonial matrix of power – the ideas, events, inequalities and injustices born of colonialism – continue to shape the modern world?
Unique artworks, historical objects and personal stories accompany the visitor throughout this much-needed European reckoning with colonialism.

A unique tribute to Charlotte, First Princess of Belgium and last Empress of Mexico, exactly 100 years after her death.
Born in Laeken as the first princess of Belgium and married to Archduke Maximilian of Austria, Charlotte ascended the throne as Empress of Mexico in 1864. After a compelling and tragic life, she spent the last sixty years of her life at Bouchout Castle, in the heart of what is now the Botanical Garden. Her story is one of extreme highs and lows — a history in which resilience and vulnerability are inextricably linked. These are themes that not only shaped her life, but are also more relevant than ever in our contemporary society.

The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium present The Road – South and West and Farmers – Middle West, two panels from The Americans, Saul Steinberg’s monumental work created for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair.
Created on site for the American Pavilion, this work measuring more than 70 metres in length is a vast collage inspired by the “American way of life”, in which Steinberg gave free rein to his imagination and wit. Composed of eight thematic panels, The Americans is now regarded as one of the artist’s greatest achievements.
At the close of Expo 58, the work was acquired by the Belgian State and incorporated into the collections of the RMFAB. Because of its monumental scale and fragility, this major work is rarely displayed, despite having originally been conceived for an open space designed to welcome thousands of visitors. At the time, it served as the elegant backdrop to the daily fashion shows organised by Vogue in the heart of the pavilion.
In spring 2025, three panels from The Americans were exceptionally loaned to Maison Delvaux for a press presentation during Paris Fashion Week. Upon their return, the works were presented to museum visitors before a second group of three panels went on display. With the presentation of these final two panels, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium bring this exhibition cycle to its conclusion. The chapter closes with the satisfaction of having restored to public view, in its entirety, a remarkable ensemble that had remained out of sight for too long, and of having given this jewel of the collections the visibility it deserves.

From 27 June 2026 to 3 January 2027, the Brussels City Museum presents a unique work of contemporary embroidery. This monumental piece was created in the textile workshop at the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Integration into Work in a collective project that brought together artists and participants.
Inspired by the Bayeux Embroidery, often regarded as one of the first journalistic accounts in textile, this contemporary work offers a sensitive reinterpretation of the major events of 2020. By bringing to life these recent events, the project reflects on a tumultuous year that is etched in people’s minds: as was the case with the Battle of Hastings, there is a before and an after Covid.
Half textile art and half social project, this collective work stands for the wealth of different perspectives and the power of shared artistic expression. Discover it in the heart of Brussels, at a museum that promotes dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary creativity. A work created by the people of Brussels that tells of a time we all went through.

The Boghossian Foundation presents 'Shape of absence', an exhibition initiated at the invitation of Louma Salamé, which bears witness to the ongoing heritage tragedy unfolding in Syria since 2011. The exhibition is centered on Hrair Sarkissian’s monumental installation 'Stolen Past', presented in dialogue with Iconem’s immersive images of the site of Palmyra. A poignant reflection on disappearance, memory, and resilience.
As cradle of ancient civilisations and major cultural crossroads, Syria has, since 2011, seen its heritage gravely threatened and exploited by war through destruction, looting, and the illegal antiquities trades. The exhibition seeks to bear witness to this ongoing tragedy while underscoring the urgent need to document sites in the face of the loss of millions of archaeological objects.
'Stolen Past', Hrair Sarkissian’s powerful installation, lies at the heart of this enquiry. Trained from an early age in his father’s photographic studio in Damascus, the artist is now recognised as one of the leading conceptual photographers of his generation. Deeply rooted in history and memory, his practice finds a particularly poignant resonance here.
The monumental installation presents forty-eight lithophanes arranged like funerary stelae, creating an atmosphere of contemplation and remembrance. When illuminated, they reveal images reminiscent of black-and-white photographs depicting artefacts that disappeared from the Raqqa Museum in Syria. Founded in 1981, the institution once housed some 8,000 objects spanning a vast historical period. Between 2013 and 2017, the Islamic State took control of the city and systematically looted its museums and collections. Of these thousands of invaluable pieces, only 880 are known to remain today.
By adapting a technique dating back to the mid-nineteenth century, the artist documents these absent remnants through lithophanes produced by means of 3D printing on thin translucent plaques. The project highlights the ways in which absence may be made visible, while more broadly exploring the forms of memory that emerge within communities shaped by violence.
In resonance with this work, the immersive images presented in the exhibition stem from ICONEM’s 3D digitisation and reconstruction technologies, revealing the site of Palmyra in Syria, fragile under the effects of time and conflict. Through monumental remains, sculpted details, and silent expanses, visitors are invited to contemplate not only what endures, but also what has been lost. Absence here becomes a visible form, embodied in traces, ruins, and fragments that continue to tell a story.
At the intersection of art, memory, and innovation, 'Shape of absence' questions our relationship to lost heritage and the capacity of images to preserve what once seemed irretrievably gone.

The Fondation Folon presents Jirô Taniguchi. Portrait lointain, the first major exhibition devoted to the manga master in Europe in more than a decade.
Presented as part of the celebrations marking 160 years of friendship between Belgium and Japan, it invites visitors to immerse themselves in the sensitive, poetic and deeply human world of the celebrated mangaka. A unique opportunity to discover the work of one of Japan’s greatest comics artists.
The Japanese comic strip artist and screenwriter Jirô Taniguchi (Tottori 1947 – Tokyo 2017) holds a special place in the history of manga. Best known in Europe for A Distant Neighbourhood, The Walking Man and The Summit of the Gods, he developed a deeply personal oeuvre that fused Japanese and European culture. He was a prolific author who explored a wide range of genres over the course of his career: intimate narratives, crime, westerns, historical chronicles, adventure, fantasy, animal stories and even gourmet manga.
Taniguchi’s work is notable for its unusual focus on emotions, silence and the details of everyday life, which transforms themundane into a universal experience. In his extraordinarily delicate drawings, he accords as much importance to the characters as to the scenery, the light and the passage of time. Comprising original comic strips from Japan, this exhibition is a fantastic opportunity to discover this outstanding artist. It explores the major themes that permeate his work.
Although fascinated by European comic strips, Taniguchi remained profoundly Japanese. He helped to project a different image of manga, far removed from the stereotypes associated with the genre. His work appeals to both comic strip enthusiasts and readers who are discovering manga for the first time.

With "Houses in Comic Strips", visitors can discover how comic book artists have explored this concept of a “house”. From History to decoration, and from the inhabitants themselves to the interiors of their homes.
From June 2026 to February 2027, five lectures will broaden the theme and open new perspectives: from the history of the Brussels townhouse to the story of a passionate Victor Horta enthusiast.

I am not me, the horse is not mine
William Kentridge began his artistic career at the height of the political struggle against the apartheid regime in his native South Africa. His work bears witness to a profound commitment - at once social, political and poetic - that continues to shape his artistic practice to this day.Kentridge's artistic output ranges from drawings, animated films and sculptures to prints, installations and videos. These works often emerge while he is directing a theatre or opera production, another field to which he devotes his energies. I am not me, the horse is not mine, William Kentridge's solo exhibition at Bozar, offers a comprehensive overview of his oeuvre from the early 1980s to the present day. Several of his major stage productions receive special attention. The exhibition highlights the performative and collaborative nature of Kentridge's practice, in which he allows art to evolve into a space for political inquiry, historical reckoning and poetic transformation.William Kentridge takes over one of Bozar's major exhibition spaces, creates site-specific works, and curates a rich multidisciplinary programme. This is by no means the first time we have welcomed Kentridge to Brussels. He has a long-standing connection with the city, where he premiered his first opera (Faustus in Africa!, 1995), and where he held his first solo exhibition in Europe at Bozar in 1998.

To mark the centenary of SNCB-NMBS, Train World presents Fashion & Trains.
From the very beginning, railways have borne witness to the changing fashions of those who travelled by train. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to cast a spotlight not on the train itself, but on the passengers and railway staff, seen through the fresh perspective of their clothes, from 1835 to the present day.
To mark the centenary of SNCB-NMBS, Train World presents Fashion & Trains, an exhibition exploring the fascinating world of fashion and rail travel.
From the very beginning, railways have borne witness to the changing fashions of those who travelled by train. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to cast a spotlight not on the train itself, but on the passengers and railway staff, seen through the fresh perspective of their clothes, from 1835 to the present day.
This journey also offers the chance to admire superb railway posters, each capturing the spirit of travel and revealing how closely the worlds of rail and fashion have long been intertwined.
As an introduction to Fashion & Trains, four young designers were invited to imagine the clothes worn by the travellers of today and tomorrow.

A singular work of Art Nouveau, Maison Hannon is the sum of the tastes and passions of its commissioners, Édouard and Marie Hannon.
Visiting the Maison Hannon is to discover the personal home of a couple, Marie Debard and Édouard Hannon, who together with their friend, the architect Jules Brunfaut, designed an Art Nouveau masterpiece. The interior was conceived as an enclosed, dreamlike and symbolic universe.
Visiting the Maison Hannon also includes a tour of the temporary exhibition "Belgian Art Nouveau", which presents Art Nouveau in all its diversity through works from the most important Belgian collections. For more information, visit the Maison Hannon website.

René Magritte Museum (house) & Abstract Art Museum
House where René Magritte (1898−1967) lived and worked from 1930 to 1954, which shows the apartment of the painter as it used to be, as well as watercolours, drawings and paintings, and hundreds of personal documents, photographs and letters.
The René Magritte Museum occupies the house in which the Belgian surrealist painter worked nearly 24 years of his life. On the ground floor the museum presents the apartment where the painter lived and worked from 1930 to 1954. A biographical exhibition is spread on the two other floors. The period spent at the rue Esseghem, the only house which is open to the public since 1999, remains the most fascinating one for anybody who wishes to approach the painter. An Abstract Art Museum will soon complete the René Magritte Museum in Jette (Brussels). This surprising pairing will remind visitors of the close links Magritte had with the Abstraction.

Erasmus House–in which the famous philosopher and scholar stayed from May to October 1521–is one of the oldest Gothic houses in the Belgian capital, and hosts a sublime collection of paintings, prints and sculptures by 15th-17th century masters.
The beguinage has been restored in depth and is once again open to visitors each 1st Sunday of the month with guided tours (or on request).
The Erasmus House, beguinage, and collegiate church of Saints Peter and Guido forma magnificent historical ensemble, right in the heart of the commune. Erasmus House–in which the famous philosopher and scholar stayed from May to October 1521–is one of the oldest Gothic houses in the Belgian capital.
It hosts a sublime collection of paintings, prints and sculptures by 15th-17th century masters like Albrecht Dürer, Hugo Van der Goes, Cornelis Metsys... not to mention portraits of Erasmus inspired by Hans Holbein and Quentin Metsys. A rich collection of 16th century books is a nod to the singular humanist’s thinking.
A medicinal plant garden–designed by landscape architect René Pechère–presents around one hundred medicinal plants that were known to 16thcentury physicians. Beyond it stretches a philosophical garden that is home to the works of contemporary artists like Marie-Jo Lafontaine and Bob Verschueren. The beguinage of Anderlecht is Belgium’s smallest.
Founded in 1252, today it consists of two wings framing an enclosed garden with its own well. It housed beguines right up until the French Revolution. The beguinage has been restored in depth and is once again open to visitors each 1st Sunday of the month with guided tours. Discover this entirely restored architectural jewel in a pristine state.

Next to the stock exchange building, in the heart of Brussels, is a fascinating little archaeological site. It contains the remains of the Franciscan monastery founded in Brussels in 1238 and the tomb of Duke John I of Brabant. The foundations and various other objects offer a glimpse of an unknown side of the history of Brussels, and at the same time give a good idea of the different aspects of an archaeological dig.

Nimbus
Nimbus is a new artwork created by Visual System to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Atomium’s renovation. It extends the unique dialogue the collective has been cultivating for several years with this iconic architectural landmark and with its audiences from all over the world.
The work plays with and disrupts geometry: the monument’s original tubes are reconfigured into gigantic columns that give rise to a living, inhabited space, while the building’s characteristic mirrored spheres multiply across the surfaces, unsettling spatial and temporal references.
Nimbus shapes a suspended environment in which light and sound, carried by an original musical composition by Thomas Vaquié, form a vibrating halo, a protective sphere. The audience engages in dialogue with an evolving artwork, creating a singular, plural and universal experience through movement and individual sensibility.
In this way, Nimbus celebrates the architecture of the Atomium, revealing a monument in perpetual transformation, where diversity, contemplation and the collective imagination converge.
Visual System is a multidisciplinary artists’ collective that, since 2007, has been exploring the connections between creative techniques and visual perception.

Supply Chain combines mirrors, mobile LED screens, light beams and sound installations to create a choreography of light and reflections. The artwork is composed of hybrid modules installed on structures derived from industrial assembly tables, and is complemented by LED tubes, a central luminous circle and graphic matrices. It transforms the space while evoking the production and supply chains that underpin contemporary technologies.
Through this poetic and dynamic staging, the work reveals the connections between material, industry and the digital realm, inviting audiences to experience an immediate sensory immersion while questioning the invisible infrastructures that shape our technological societies.

Rage, rage
Difficult poses, precarious positions, and the fear of falling. Yet they seem to climb, searching for light and a view. Dreaming of what lies beyond the blind wall or high rooftop. Longing for an elusive horizon.
A rebellion too, against the dark shadow of our time. To put it in the words of the poet Dylan Thomas: "Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
Lichtzoekers are a silent spectacle woven through the city. Initially set against the backdrop of sometimes grey Brussels. Soon to appear in other cities as well. We are grateful to the museums and other institutions that believe in us and support the project.

From 6 to 8 November 2026, Parcours d’Artistes d’Ixelles invites you to discover 120 artists across 90 venues throughout the municipality. Studios, homes, schools, cultural venues and unexpected spaces open their doors for three days of painting, photography, sculpture, performances, dance and music. Discover Ixelles’ vibrant art scene up close.
Organised and coordinated by Vaisseau Mère non-profit association, with the support of the Municipality of Ixelles, the Parcours d’Artistes d’Ixelles 2026 will take place on 6, 7 and 8 November 2026.
The idea is simple: for three days, to turn Ixelles into one large open-air artistic trail by opening the doors of studios, homes, cultural venues, schools, associations and all kinds of places that you would not normally have the opportunity to visit.
This year, the Parcours will bring together around 120 artists across 90 different locations throughout the municipality. Participants include the École des Arts d’Ixelles, Rhizomes, Créahm, Usquare, the Ateliers Kult XL, the Boondael Chapel and ULB Culture, alongside numerous artists’ studios, private homes, collective spaces and more unexpected venues.
Some locations will receive particular attention, with more developed curatorial proposals. This will notably be the case at l’Horloge du Sud, with a carefully curated selection featuring, among others, the work of Maliza Kiasuwa, a Belgian-Congolese artist whose practice explores abstract painting and sculpture.
The Parcours is deliberately highly multidisciplinary. Alongside visual arts, photography, painting, sculpture and installations, visitors will also discover performances, dance, music and other hybrid forms. The aim is to showcase the diversity of artistic practices being developed in Ixelles today, bringing together both emerging and established artists, as well as more experimental approaches.
An important part of the project is also about opening up artists’ living and working spaces. We do not simply want to present finished works, but also give the public the opportunity to step into studios, meet artists, discover their working environments and, sometimes, get a glimpse into their daily lives. The Parcours thus becomes an opportunity to create encounters between artists, neighbours, residents and people passing through the municipality.
To make the whole experience easier to navigate, the trail will be organised around several hubs — the university district, Flagey and Fernand Cocq — with the route of bus 95 serving as a common thread. This bus line crosses a large part of Ixelles, providing a natural link between different neighbourhoods, venues and atmospheres, and making it easy for visitors to move from one location to another.
**Côté fenêtre**
This year, we will also welcome an associated artist, Lucie Sans Peur, with her project Côté fenêtre.
The idea is to invite artists to display their work behind the windows or shopfronts of Ixelles residents. The works remain visible from the street, turning windows into small galleries that are open to everyone throughout the Parcours.
We particularly like this project because it perfectly reflects the spirit we want to give this edition: taking art out of its usual spaces, bringing it directly into the city and creating encounters between artists, residents and passers-by.
**Three days of programming**
The Parcours will open on Friday 6 November from 6 pm to 10 pm, with the opening of studios, homes and exhibitions, as well as a launch evening featuring, among other things, music and dance.
On Saturday 7 November, the venues will be open from 11 am to 6 pm.
On Sunday 8 November, the trail will continue from 11 am to 6 pm, with a particular focus on children and families.
The weekend will also incorporate several exhibitions already planned across the area, including *L’image élargie*, organised by Image Fantôme at the Boondael Chapel. The exhibition brings together eight artists around an expanded approach to photography, incorporating other media such as weaving, 3D printing, screen printing and risograph printing. There will also be the group exhibition *ALLUVIONS* at the Salle Wiertz.
Ultimately, this edition is about making the Parcours d’Artistes d’Ixelles more than simply a succession of exhibitions.
For three days, 120 artists, 90 venues and an entire municipality will come together around artistic creation.
We want to create a generous, accessible and lively trail, where you can move from a home to a school, from a studio to a performance, from an exhibition to a concert, and above all, where you can meet the people who bring Ixelles’ creative scene to life.

The exhibition: A quest for raw emotion
A Brussels-based expressionist painter active for over fifteen years, Jérôme Selosse develops an instinctive and visceral style of painting. His work explores the body, gesture, and movement through the material itself. During this event, you can admire his expressionist portraits (of literary figures such as Rimbaud, Baudelaire, Kafka, or Schiele) as well as his canvases vibrant with energy.
The performance: A participatory action-painting workshop
Each day, the artist invites you to become a part of the creative process. Under his guidance, participate in the creation of a monumental collective artwork (one 2 x 3 m canvas per day). In the spirit of action painting, leave your gestures, colours, and textures to bring to life a collaborative work that evolves with every visitor's touch.

José Miguel del Pozo (1985, Venezuela) presents 'Perreología' at Espace F.12, an exhibition arising from his fanzine 'Only Doguettes' (2020) and exploring our intention to spend all day looking at screens. Revealing a form of soft voyeurism, pixels of poor images appear in front of us to question these video surveillance images that are gradually becoming normalized.
A black-haired dog with curly fur licks herself on a rug. Queen Dembow, the dog, has a diva-like character, or so they say. When her owner is not at home, she is filmed non-stop by a camera installed in her living room, which broadcasts her images to her owner's mobile phone via the internet, and consequently to the world. Come and joins us for an exhibition on artist's publications, pixels, dogs and more!
