Halle Gate
Although thousands of people pass every day close to this remaining part of the second surrounding wall of Brussels, along the "petite ceinture" between the Place Louise and the Midi Station, very few of them are conscious of its eventful history. This fairytale monument, more than 600 years old is in fact the most remarkable witness of the City's medieval past.
Open on Mondays! The Halle Gate houses now a permanent presentation dedicated to the medieval City of Brussels. Climb the Halle Gate’s 169 steps and enjoy Brussels’ most stunning panoramic view. It’s a breathtaking plunge back into the 16th century!
For families : After the museum, children can have a great time in the most beautiful outdoor playground of Brussels, located only 100 meters from the museum. Adventure assured in this castle and medieval village with accompanying sandbox.

Variations sur les passions humaines
If beings from the farthest reaches of the solar system were to land on our planet, how would they go about making contact with us? Cie Mossoux-Bonté takes us on a fictional journey in which five visitors attempt to become human.

A production by the Compagnie Mossoux-Bonté | In co-production with Théâtre Les Tanneurs, Charleroi danse – centre chorégraphique de Wallonie-Bruxelles, Central La Louvière and Escher Theater – Esch-sur-Alzette | With the support of Taxshelter.be, ING, the Belgian Federal Government Tax Shelter, the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, Dance Department, and Wallonie-Bruxelles International

How would beings arriving from within the solar system and landing on our planet go about entering into contact with us ? “How would they feel, faced with our irresistible urges? Our inconsistencies, our obsessions ? Would they want to be like us ?”, wonders Patrick Bonté who, in accordance with the company’s principle of rotation, has created this new work.A group of extra-terrestrials visiting Earth tries to adopt humanity’s codes in order to examine our behaviour. Dreams, fantasy and restraint come into play, while the resemblance is finessed, and this strange familiarity veers off into anguish. An echo chamber for the chaos of our era, and for its ills, these Variations sur les passions humaines pull apart our ruined relationships, and displace our disintegrated dynamics, presenting an opening to embolden “impertinent and unrestricted speech”.

A Good Man is Hard To Find
Dissecting the Mythology of Power
The performance takes its cue from the so-called ‘Cremationof Care’, a fantastical and decadent ritual allegedly organised by the private club Bohemian Grove in San Francisco. A ceremony in which the global political and economic elite are supposedly invited to rid themselves of their feelings of guilt. In a battered meeting room, the five actor-dancers dissect the mythology of power and lay bare the absurdity, illusions, initiation rituals and destruction that seem to define all these men — emotionally blocked somewhere between gods and teenagers. So imagine an office party at the end of the world, suspended somewhere between a Greek tragedy and a contemporary apocalypse, pop music and an epic symphony, at the intersection of dance and theatre, where beauty meets horror.
A Good Man is Hard to Find was the sensation of the 2025 Venice Dance Biennale. Hailing from London’s underground scene, Bullyache create hybrid works inspired by their working-class backgrounds and queer identity. A Belgian premiere.

"20 ans d'une histoire en mouvement" Géopolis/MYOP
From September 2 to November 1, 2026, the Géopolis team is delighted to present an exhibition created in collaboration with the Myop collective, marking the 20th anniversary of this exceptional group of photographers who have been traveling the world for 20 years to document its progress.
This exhibition of 200 photographs is both a deep dive into their work and a journey through world history.
Introduction to the collective
This exhibition is a collection left to run wild, open to every wind. Twenty years of images bloom here, intertwine, spilling over the well-guarded borders of the past to invade the present. They are what we saw. What seized us. What demanded to be shown. Faces, dramas, joys. Everything the whirlwind of the world sweeps up and lays before our restless eyes.
Each vision will have lasted only a brief instant. But that fraction of a second, made eternal in a photograph, holds within it its entire history. It bears witness. It whispers, it cries out. It calls us to account for its existence and compels us to face it as it is, without looking away.
We, the photographers of MYOP, hold to this commitment to go out and meet the world, to listen to its stories, to relate its joys, its sufferings, its poetry. Against the algorithmic fever that falsifies reality, we set the complexity of the living, the richness of encounters, the energy of long time.
We believe in the power of images — insofar as they carry us toward others, open up the field of our curiosity, our reflection, our emotions. We believe in the power of testimony, in the sensitive imprint of the lives unfolding around us. We want to gather them, to tell their share of shadow and light. To pay tribute to them at times, to do them justice where we can.
This work embraces the entire shape of life; it never stops. New images are already being born. The exhibition will keep growing. As long as one of us still stands there.

Museum of museums
Works from the Art et marges museum collection successively transform the spaces in which they are displayed.
A botanical garden, a planetarium, an anthropological cabinet, a folklore museum… these settings unfold before the viewer like a series of temples, each infused with its own atmosphere by the Muses. Is the museum a sacred place?
MUSEUM OF MUSEUMS sets out to dismantle the walls we so often imagine standing between artwork and audience. Through scenographic and educational displays inspired by different museum typologies, and with objects brought out from the reserves, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the exhibition as a total experience.
Amid the Art brut collections — between tissue paper and the scent of popcorn (come and see for yourself!) — works from the contemporary visual arts scene also appear. While the Art et marges museum may delight, for the occasion, in spotting categories everywhere, its true specialty lies in creating dialogue between them.
Seyni Awa Camara, Pierre Bonvoisin, Charlotte Beaudry, Géraldine Beaupère, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Umberto Bergamaschi, Jean-Baptiste Bernadet, Alexandre Bernardi, Pascal Bernier, Ghyslain Bertholon, Anacleto Borghi, Magali Cadelli, Solène Calderon, Alejandro Cardenas, Ignacio Carles Tolra, Pierre Coene, Tony Convey, Georges Counasse, Caroline Dahyot, Michel Dave, Clément Davout, Alain Delaunay...

Twice a month, Maison Gertrude, an art center within a care home, opens its doors and invites you to discover its collection of artworks created in situ.
Maison Gertrude, an art center within a care home, was created and developed jointly by the Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles, the CPAS of the City of Brussels, and the association Zirlib, led by artist Mohamed El Khatib. It was inaugurated on May 24, 2025. Located in the heart of the Marolles district, it houses a permanent collection of artworks created in situ — that is, within the residence itself, in close collaboration with the people who live and work there.
This collection is integrated into both private and communal spaces, transforming the care home into a new cultural venue and opening it up to the neighborhood and the wider city. The guided tour will take you through the corridors of the residence to discover works created by around ten artists at the heart of this unique environment.
The Maison Gertrude Art Center is open to the public for guided tours. Let yourself be guided by a resident, a staff member, or a mediator from the Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles.

Lignes de fracture
Dance, words, graphic gestures, music and light: Lignes de fracture immerses us in a fragmentary and multidimensional narrative. The piece, performed by four dancers from different generations, explores a choreographic style rooted in the observation of traces, both physical and mental.

The dance/cinema fashioned by Michèle Noiret is present here, with no camera, in a haze of reality-fiction, temporal overlaps, deliberately disrupted perception. On stage are four women, of various ages. Between them is a web of questioning taken from Siri Hustvedt in Vivre Penser Regarder, regarding human interaction, memory, imagination. Within them, intimate monologues. Through them, an onslaught on the conventions governing the fate of women, for so long erasing them from history, and even now threatening the progress they have made.Sustained from the start by literature, cinema, the plastic arts, guided by her intuition towards unknown territories, the choreographer crowns forty years of creation with Lignes de fracture. Her journey has been one of tirelessly inventing, together, step by step, “something that was previously unknown to us”.

Palace of Justice: the largest courthouse in the world
In the 19th century, Brussels’ Palace of Justice was Europe’s largest building. Designed by Joseph Poelaert, this monumental neoclassical structure combines Assyrian-Babylonian influences with rich symbolism about justice, order and power. A guided tour explores Poelaert’s vision, the building’s history and its role in Brussels, while its long-awaited restoration continues.
In the 19th century, the Palace of Justice was the largest building constructed in Europe. More than 140 years later, its dome still dominates the Brussels skyline. The man behind it, Joseph Poelaert (1817-1879), was a stubborn jack-of-all-trades who refused to adhere to any fixed style. His unbridled dedication drove him to exhaustion, and he was unable to complete his gigantic design himself. The people of Brussels meaningfully called him the Schieven architect – and that was not a compliment.
The Palace of Justice is a neoclassical monument with striking Assyrian-Babylonian features. Poelaert saw architecture as a moral and almost metaphysical task: proportions, dimensions, and motifs had to make order, justice, and the separation of powers visible. This layered symbolism, nourished by ancient cultures and religious traditions, makes a visit here special. You will discover Poelaert's life, his vision, and the building's place in the city and the justice system. During this guided tour, our expert guides breathe life into this colossal monument with their captivating stories.
What about those scaffolding structures?
Many individuals have never seen the building without scaffolding. However, there is hope! The Brussels Region has developed a plan to complete the restoration of the façade by 2030. This timing is ideal to add extra splendor to Belgium's 200th anniversary celebrations.

ماحلى خیالك [Beautiful Shadows]
L’exil et les ombres
Four dancers and a musician, all with backgrounds shaped by exile, invite us into a living ritual, exploring the traces left behind when we are forced to leave a country, a childhood, a home: traces etched into places and memories, traces that time cannot erase.
Like the enduring shadow cast on a wall by someone who is no longer there, memory remains. It surfaces unexpectedly, bringing the bustle of the present to a brief halt. It settles into a gesture, the scent of coffee, a song in the distance, an inner rhythm that you carry with you wherever you go, like the home you have never entirely left behind.
ماحلى خﯾالك [Beautiful Shadows] is the second production by Ahmed Ayed to be presented at Les Brigittines, following … And Nobody Else (2024).

The current Belgian French-language choreographic scene
From now on, we will be dedicating the month of November at Les Brigittines to Belgian choreographic creation, and more specifically to artists from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, bringing together both established names and exciting emerging talent.
For this second edition, five performances await discovery: five worlds, five distinct personalities, at the crossroads of dance, dance theatre, physical theatre and performance.
After months of rehearsals, Ahmed Ayed, Oumar Diallo, Delphine Friquet and Astéro Styliani Lamprinou will unveil their premieres. Benjamin Kahn, meanwhile, will make his Belgian debut with the production he created abroad several months earlier.

NEXUS - En quête d'une voie
The others
Nexus – En quête d’une voie is a sensory and physical, almost spiritual experience, a performance about the fragility of the human mind.
Four performers take to the stage, bringing new imaginary worlds to life through a distorted perception of reality. They balance on a knife-edge; everything unfolds in a breath, within inner worlds shaped by an altered perception, where bodies move, speak and scream in silence.
Oumar Diallo’s work plays with the fragile value of the moment, breaking down the wall that separates audiences from performers, and using movement, words and embodiment to bring it to life.
Oumar Diallo’s dance, born in the streets and clubs, is resolutely of its time. Nexus – En quête d’une voie is his first group work, following his much-talked-about duo Kifesh 2.0 (2024).
Oumar Diallo received the Roel Verniers Prize, awarded by the Theaterfestival / KVS to encourage emerging artists, for his project NEXUS – En quête d’une voie.

Focu Meu
When Beauty Emerges from Chaos
In the Calabrian dialect ‘focu meu’ means ‘my fire’. This powerful popular expression conveys joy, pain, anger and vitality all at once, but also loss and the will to live.
Drawing on all these shifting feelings of inner fire, Benjamin Kahn creates a sensitive, epic and pagan ceremony. With his performers, musical shockwaves and a play of chiaroscuro lighting, the artist creates a multilayered performance in which bodies and elements intersect and exhaust one another, allowing beauty to emerge from chaos.
Following three much-talked-about solo works, including Bless the Sound that Saved a Witch like me, presented at Les Brigittines in March 2026, Benjamin Kahn ventures into group performance for the first time, straddling an intimate cry and a collective polyphony.

Staying Alive
Beauty becomes their performance: the beauty of the Dancer, the Musician and the One Who Illuminates Them. Three performers, three characters who create live images: colourful, fiery, sun-drenched images, each one a moment in the ‘now’ destined to last forever.
Here, everything is analogue: the handcrafted work of a dance with magnetic expressiveness, atmospheric music emerging from a double turntable, and simple projectors with sheets of transparent, coloured paper.
Poised between poetry and a quest for the universal, this first work by Delphine Friquet springs from a burning desire to heal the wounds of the world and a profound need to touch beauty as we touch life.

WALLPAPER
Drawings on the Wall
The motifs on the rolls of wallpaper that adorn our interiors are each traces of the passage of time, and form part of our social and aesthetic past.
Choreographer, dancer, performer and video artist, Astéro Styliani Lamprinou, whose work is rooted in architecture and surrealism, draws inspiration from prints ranging from the Baroque period to the 1970s, taking in the Roaring Twenties and the 1950s along the way. She thus offers a journey through time as a succession of transformations, like wallpaper that is replaced, pasted over and peeling away.
At the intersection of dance and performance, WALLPAPER moves from nothingness towards full, expansive surfaces that change in texture and colour as the years pass. A metaphor for a society in constant evolution.

Les cavalières de l'Apocalypse
The incivility
The Apocalypse heralds the end of a cycle. It has had such a profound impact on the Western psyche that the term has become synonymous with cataclysm, with the end of the world.
Four great tableaux unfold like a gigantic tapestry woven from blood, fire, humus and swords. There are cries and caresses; there is racing.
There are two horses and three figures on the edge of humanity.
A Black woman, often on horseback, creates confusion: is she the horsewoman, or is she fleeing? What does the intimacy she shares with the animals mean? Does she know the codes, or is she making them up as she goes along?
A slender, blonde, white woman embodies Donna Haraway’s cyborg world; at once perfect and repulsive, smooth, confrontational and aggressive, she seems to be both the cure and the disease. ‘I’d rather be a cyborg than a goddess’, she claims.
Off to the side, sunk into a battered armchair, sits a weary, ape-like demiurge. He has the baldness and beer belly of certain ‘outcasts’; he observes, comments, mocks and even throws cans onto the stage. He is their exhausted, withering god.
And then it begins.

Antes de...
First times
What goes on in a child’s mind and body just before a first time - a first step, a first word? Antes de… invites us to experience those moments of discovery, alongside two performers as they take the plunge, face their fears and dare to trust one another.
Hand in hand and foot to foot, they take turns leading the dance, guiding each other forward. A celebration of discovery and the courage to take risks, Antes De playfully blurs the line between fear and illusion, inviting performers and audience alike to gently scare one another – or is it more than just an illusion? Tea Tree draws us into a poetic, playful and acrobatic world, where every step becomes an adventure.
The performance was awarded the Minister for Children’s Prize at the 2026 Rencontres de Charleroi.

PARADE
A Day of Celebration
In a festive atmosphere, accompanied by dancing and trumpets, the parade gets underway. The seven performers come together and invite the audience to join them for this final rehearsal. The performers get moving, tune into one another, observe each other and lend each other a hand. And off we go!
The movements are simple, sometimes vulnerable, always sincere. Here, everything takes shape in dialogue with others; here, we listen, respond and continually adjust in conversation with one another.
PARADE is a joyfully chaotic performance in which audiences and performers physically experience what it means to connect, trust one another and build a collective movement. PARADE is an invitation to create an entire world together.
The production was awarded the Minister for Primary Education’s Prize by the jury of the Rencontres Théâtre jeune public de Charleroi in 2026.

For an entire afternoon, Les Brigittines becomes the place for children to come and celebrate. Following a first edition in which the chapel was transformed into a disco for little ones, this time we are turning our stage into a multifaceted playground.
There will be music, games, crazy activities and sparkling, bubbly drinks served at the bar. And all of it specially tailored to children!

Opéra Punk
Bim, bam, boum
We enter the performance with the reckless abandon of someone stepping into the lion’s den ! This Opéra Punk is the opera of four unruly performers: singers, dancers, trumpeters and drummers. We find ourselves both backstage and bearing witness to the musical unfolding of these muddled and astonishing characters. A fiery outburst of sheer joie de vivre. The performers engage the audience head-on, shattering every convention in the process. Improvisation runs wild, and the overwhelming, madcap energy inevitably proves infectious. Utterly wild!

L'amour c'est pour du beurre
Against the backdrop of William Shakespeare’s extremely ‘playful’ Twelfth Night, Eline Schumacher highlights the passion of theatre. In a carnivalesque atmosphere, excited by the ingenuity of the characters, the play on language, the misunderstandings and accidents, L’amour c’est pour du beurre is a humanist love comedy.

SATELLITES
Dance with drones
SATELLITES is a journey between human and machine, a UFO, a performance born from the encounter between a dancer and small, luminous drones. The performance is filled with increasingly surreal images and conceived as an extension of our possibilities. Visually, graphically and playfully, the piece reflects the vulnerability of human existence and reveals the loneliness of those who seek to transcend their limits.
There is something wondrous about this work by Brian Ca, in which the machine becomes both companion and rival, exposing the vulnerability of a humanity fascinated by, and at the same time afraid of, what it has itself created.

KêR
Home sweet home
On stage stands a tent that could be a house, or a mountain. And a performer who moves like a landscape. KêR is a visual performance that poses this simple yet dizzyingly profound question: what is ‘home’ when you move, grow up, travel, flee or return?
The images follow one another: the tent undergoes a metamorphosis, the stars flicker, the fire crackles, and an atmosphere of mystery and tenderness takes hold. KêR is a performance for anyone who has lost their home. A performance that invites both little and big children to imagine their own inner refuges.

The last Hamlet
To be or not to be
What if we were to stage the last Hamlet — literally — after which Shakespeare’s play, a classic among classics, would never be performed again, making way for new stories for new times?
For Ben Duke, the British director and choreographer, Hamlet bears a heavy responsibility for the ills of our times: he is depressed, violent and guilty of procrastination. Having learnt that his play has been cancelled, he takes to the stage one last time. He has prepared new arguments with which he hopes to persuade us to grant him a reprieve. Ben Duke uses the character created by the English playwright as a starting point for a sarcastic exploration of existence, revenge and the stories from which we never seem able to escape.
Ben Duke, a leading figure in the English theatre world, has created around a dozen productions with his company Lost Dog, three of which have received awards: Ruination: The True Story of Medea (2022); Paradise Lost [lies unopened beside me] (2015) and It Needs Horses (2011). This is the first time the artist and his company will perform in Belgium, with this production specially created for the IN programme of the 2026 Festival d’Avignon.

Nous ne sommes qu’à peu près en toutes choses
Instinct de (sur)vie
Nous ne sommes qu’à peu près en toutes choses explores the resilience of a body marked and shaped by hardship. This deeply autobiographical and intimate work, created by a striptease artist and dancer Agathe Thevenot, draws inspiration from the world and aesthetics of cabaret.
On stage, the character is pushed to the extreme, using highly precise movements to play with the codes of seduction and desire. Gradually, moments of vulnerability emerge, heightened by sound and light. The dancer’s presence becomes unstable, disoriented; glitches and interruptions open cracks in this unsettling narrative, suspended between beauty and gravity.
Working at the crossroads of dance, performance and cabaret, Agathe Thevenot is an artist based between Brussels and Paris. She has performed with numerous Belgian and French choreographers. Nous ne sommes qu’à peu près en toutes choses is her first solo creation.

Sortir par la Porte (une tentative d’évasion)
An Initiatory Escape
Young Juan, who has been living independently since the age of 16, is a regular on Buenos Aires’ underground scene, letting himself be swept away by music and dance. He smokes his first joint and becomes caught in a hellish spiral. To pull him out of it, his mother sends him to a fascistic rehabilitation centre, its atmosphere more akin to a prison.
Years later, the artist, now based in France, realises that him choosing the Cyr wheel as his preferred apparatus is closely connected to this experience. This three-metre, fifteen-kilogram ring becomes his partner in telling this journey of self-discovery.
Following Instante I Lontano at the Brigittines International Festival 2025, this is the second time we have had the pleasure of welcoming this brilliant artist. This time, with a performance that feels like a whirlwind of hope.

Ouai Stéphane
Ouai Stéphane concert (live electronic music) at the Brigittines Chapel!
As a musician and producer, Ouai Stéphane has carved out a prominent place for himself on the electronic scene thanks to his wholly distinctive approach to music production. His fascination with the intersections between art and technology, combined with his sharp sense of humour, provides the starting point for a creative DIY project. Here, he reimagines the codes of the creative process by drawing on electroacoustic techniques, technological innovations and everyday objects, resulting in highly celebratory and generous electro-house.
His music is cinematic, powerful and full of groove, featuring nods not only to Steve Reich and the Vengaboys, but also taking inspiration from the Chemical Brothers and Kylie Minogue.
Following guest appearances at festivals including Eurosonic, Marsatac, Rock en Seine, Les Trans Musicales, Lollapalooza and Pete the Monkey, Ouai Stéphane is now set to make the Chapel shake to its foundations!

In Beautysalon, four Black women take their seats in their hair salon. As the hairstyles take shape, each of them tells stories, their own stories.
Stories of Black Switzerland, touching on themes such as identity, emancipation, racism and Eurocentric beauty standards. This joyful, chaotic piece explores an essential cultural feature shared by generations of Black women in Europe: a plunge into a vibrant counter-narrative.

Stace
STACE (neo-soul) concert in the Brigittines Chapel!
A Brussels native who has grown up with jazz since childhood and is a rising talent on the neo-soul scene, Stace released her first self-produced tracks at the end of 2021. Less than a year later, her debut EP, Green Onyx, was released to critical acclaim. With this EP, she played more than 60 concerts across Belgium — Dour Festival, Couleur Café, Ancienne Belgique, Nuits Botanique. With Overblue, released in 2024, she also ventured into hip-hop, R&B, electronic music and even alternative rock.
Her music is soulful, sensual and sun-drenched, building bridges between a range of emotions. The Martinique-rooted composer knows how to transform her melancholy with remarkable precision, and succeeds in illuminating every space with her vibrant, contemplative melodies. She observes the passage of time with acute empathy and an innate gift for interpretation.
For this concert, STACE will be joined by her band and backing vocalists.

UBIQUITY
Virtual Reality
Ubiquity refers to the ability to be present in several places at once. This concept provides the starting point for this immersive and interactive performance, conceived as a festive ceremony at the intersection of playwriting and virtual reality.
A ritual begins, in a large circle and through movement. The performers invite anyone who wishes to join them to put on a virtual reality headset. Their gaze changes as they plunge into a digital, sensory world that encourages them to move and travel physically through space. Their movements, prompted by virtual reality, create a choreography that the dancers support, complement and amplify. The headsets become masks; a shared, hybrid body emerges, carried by the energy of live electronic music, infectious joy, a festive atmosphere and a collective momentum.

SHOUT TWICE
Sow sound, reap movement
Electro-bass sounds set the pace: fast, deep and powerful.
In the middle of the room, in the half-light, stands a square stage like a boxing ring. The audience surrounds it, while behind the scenes two control rooms interact with one another. On stage, the two women dance with a sense of urgency and an insatiable desire.
Shout Twice is an experience at the intersection of a concert and a performance, driven by the overwhelming energy of its performers, with its tracks, its build-up and its pauses. Everything revolves around the liberating exhilaration carried by sound, a call to come together, the raw material of a performance that transforms the space, the listening experience and the bodies: little by little, the audience is swept along.
Melissa Guex collaborated on Bless This Mess with Katerina Andreou, a group work presented at the 2024 Kunstenfestivaldesarts at KVS. With this first joint creation, they are coming to Les Brigittines for the first time.
