Our first stop will be at our hidden gem inspired with medieval atmosphere. Here, sample your first beer and exchange thoughts on the flavor and notes and soak up the convivial spirit as you chat to your group. If you don’t know the difference between an ale and a lager, listen carefully cause your guide is about to share the secrets of the brewing process. At every venue, we’ll surprise you by combining our beers with some local food to make sure you enjoy the full Belgian beer-and-food experience. So now it’s time to enjoy that delicious Brussels’ chocolate your guide has put on the table for you.
It’s time to move on to another lively beer spot. The knowledge of Liselot is more than only about beers: as a proud citizen, she’ll share fascinating novels about Brussels Belfry, Manneken Pis and the historical Pelgrim church. Your sightseeing will be completed with a walking encyclopedia.
At our second location, we’ll discover more different styles and further explore the world-famous Belgian brew portfolio. By tasting the very ingredients that make up the brewing process, you’ll feel like you’re visiting a brewery and you’ll get a sense of what makes a beer sour, sweet or bitter. Now, have you ever tried unique Belgian types like Trappists and our local Brussels brews? Make sure your taste buds are ready cause you are about to be introduced to the widest range of Belgian beers you have ever seen in just one bar. This visit will be completed with another surprising local food pairing.
For our second promenade, Liselot demonstrates how Brussels got this fertiled environment to make Lambic beers. Only a few metres further, you’ll hear more history of the old city wall and a recognised statue.
Last but not least, at your 3rd location you’ ll be introduced to the upscaling local craft beer market and will get the chance to try an exclusive beer you can only find in this town. Have you found your new favourite beer? Explore variants of it and make the most of these last moments together!
After 3 hours, your tour will come to a close in the nicest area of town where you will be free to spend time with your new friends or to continue this unique beer experience.

La conscience politique - Un portrait de Geoffroy de Lagasnerie
La Conscience politique (Political Consciousness) offers an analysis of our present through a portrait of the philosopher Geoffroy de Lagasnerie. Combining fragments of his life, readings, and archival footage of queer struggles, this film shows us the moment when political thinking is shaped by lived experiences. It unflinchingly examines the judicial and punitive system, family and sexual norms, and institutional and police violence. But above all, this film is a portrait of friendship as a way of life and a form of resistance, as well as an invitation to collective struggle.
The film will be followed by a discussion with director Léolo Victor-Pujebet and Geoffroy de Lagasnerie.

‘Like a snail on a razor.’ That’s how a friend of Liesa Van der Aa described her new album ‘Caramel’ — as softness that wraps itself around sharp edges, yet never allows itself to be cut. A fitting image, for with ‘Caramel’, Liesa presents her most personal work to date.
The “younger, softer sister” to Liesa Van der Aa’s previous album, ‘Easy Alice’, still inhabits the same jazzy universe. Although, to name just a few references: you can hear echoes of Laurie Anderson, this time interwoven with the early classics of James Blake and snippets of Billie Eilish and FKA Twigs. Electronic, contemporary classical, baroque, jazz and hip-hop — ‘Caramel’, as Van der Aa herself likes to describe it, wears all these coats at once, nonchalantly layered one over the other. And on top of that, more than ever before, the masks fall away. “I wanted to make a record that feels like you’re hearing someone’s thoughts out loud,” she says. “As if you’re perched on the very edge of someone’s consciousness, before everything has been spoken.”

Ceci n'est pas Noire: act II
Ceci n’est pas Noire: Act II by Alesandra Seutin at KVS is an immersive performance on identity, body and belonging. The work explores hybrid identity, transformation and the tension between vulnerability and strength.
Alesandra Seutin presents Ceci n’est pas Noire: Act II, a performance that understands the body as a site of echo and cultural resonance, where conceptions of identity and belonging are constantly transformed. Immersive in nature, the work reflects on Alesandra’s experience of being of both white European and Black Southern African heritage, a constant negotiation between intimacy and exposure, vulnerability and projection, Ceci n’est pas Noire: Act II is about embracing inner tensions in the discovery of one’s own truth. Between surreal visions and hybrid narrative forms the piece unfolds through an episodic structure, punctuated by multiple figures embodied effortlessly through Seutin’s movement vocabulary. Gestures, vocals and live sounds intertwine to awaken memories, traverse geographical and personal landscapes, and reveal the layered complexity of a hybrid identity. In Ceci n’est pas Noire: Act II, Seutin explores anew her earlier 2013 work of the same name. She deftly interweaves character devices to explore themes of the external gaze, transformation and assumed social roles, questioning how appearances can be fluid and deceptive. An intimate but frontal journey, Ceci n’est pas Noire: Act II invites audiences to consider the body as a space of memory, imagination, vulnerability and, ultimately, strength. Looking to delve deeper into Ceci n’est pas Noire: Act II?Read the dramaturgical text by Funmi Adewole Elliott, dramaturg for Alesandra Seutin and Ceci n’est pas Noire: Act II, HERE.

Je suis un voleur • Loutfi Chama Fabrice Murgia
A life spent almost entirely in a state of confinement. Since childhood, Loutfi, aged 44, has gone from one institution to another
Fabrice Murgia returns to the Théâtre National with a production that combines an epic scope with the realism of a deeply immersive narrative.
A life spent almost entirely in a state of confinement. Since childhood, Loutfi, aged 44, has gone from one institution to another: sent to a care centre at the age of 2 on the initiative of social services, he was subsequently put through a series of institutions for minors before being sent to prison several times for petty crimes. His meeting with Fabrice Murgia sparked the idea of telling his story, a necessary step towards finally managing to deal with life ‘on the outside’.
Designed for an intimate stage setting, in close proximity to the audience, Je suis un voleur unfolds the episodes of Loutfi’s past as a series of scenes brought to life by the performers. This unique, almost novelistic journey sheds light on a whole facet of life in detention centres, a violent, dead-end world that still deserves our attention today.

Icons, 20 years Designer of the Year
In 2006, the first “Designer of the Year” award was presented in Belgium. The prize was originally established by the Interieur Biennale and the magazines Knack Weekend and Le Vif Weekend, and was awarded that year to Brussels-based designer Alain Berteau. Over the years, various partners joined the initiative, and it grew into a well-established reference in the Belgian design landscape.
Twenty years later, the list of laureates reads as a best-of-the-best of what the country has to offer in contemporary design: from ceramic designers and silversmiths to product and lighting designers. Concepts such as innovation, originality, and ecology are often central to their work. The list includes names such as Muller Van Severen, Alain Gilles, Nedda El-Asmar, Julien Renault, and Linde Freya Tangelder. On the occasion of the 20th edition of the title, all twenty names come together in an exhibition at MAD Brussels, on view from 1 October to 12 December.

The festival continues its vital work of highlighting Black and Afro-descendant artistic initiatives in Brussels.
Over more than a decade, Africa is/in the Future has established itself as a space for artistic and festive convergence. A multidisciplinary festival, now organized by La Bellone, which no longer merely curates programmes but encourages dialogue between practices from different contexts. Open to all, it nevertheless extends an explicit invitation to Black and Afro-descendant people, originating from the African continent and the diasporas.
For this 11th edition, the festival underlines the need for constant, collaborative and complex redefinition as a prerequisite for a truly shared future.
At the Théâtre National, a discussion explore these fascinating ideas in greater depth. Four artists, invited by Marie Umuhoza, the festival’s programmer, share fragments of their research and works in progress. The conversation continues with a discussion between Sékou Séméga, artist and programmer at La Bellone, and the guest artists.

Words, always words. We learn them, think them, speak them. They settle and accumulate. First on the surface. Then they seep through our pores, take root within us, shape us — sometimes without our knowing. (titre provisoire) is a solo that resists being named. A flight from identity. A flight from definition. A flight from words. On stage, a body and an LED screen — nicknamed the big label —coexist, respond to one another, and rub against each other.Words appear at random, slipping, lying, or striking true, like projected labels attempting to crystallize images and inviting us to revisit our own filters in a subliminal impulse. Where does our need to name, to understand, to classify come from? This performance explores the in-between: between cultures, between languages, between perceptions. The body slips between images and expectations, evades assignments, unsettles representations. It becomes a site of metamorphosis, evaporation, and ambiguous resistance. A sensitive, shifting space where the ephemeral becomes a territory of invention. The spectator’s gaze then becomes a shifting field of experience.Neither narrative nor confession: this solo is a surface. A fracture. A mirror. Johana Malédon is a French Guianese choreographer and dancer based in the Île-de-France region. She trained at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris, the Alvin Ailey School in New York, the Pôle Supérieur Paris Boulogne-Billancourt, and later with the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel. She holds a DNSPD and a State Diploma in jazz dance teaching, as well as a degree in Performing Arts from Université Paris 8 and a Licence’s degree in Cultural and Artistic Project Management. Her choreographic work explores the body as a material shaped by memory, contradictions, and states of transformation. It relies on performative frameworks that place dancers in situations of tension, displacement, and instability. As a performer, she collaborates notably with Léo Lérus, Kristina Alleyne, Abou Lagraa and Nawal Aït Benalla within La Baraka, as well as with Fouad Boussouf, Yoshiko Waki, and Sylvain Groud. She also joins Tanz Münster in Germany as a guest dancer for the 2025–2026 season. In 2019, she founded Compagnie MÂLE after receiving the Grand Prize at the Sobanova Dance Awards for her first piece, À Bientôt. She then created 40, followed by the solo (titre provisoire), selected for Aerowaves Twenty26. Her works are presented both in France and internationally.

Conférence: La vie à l’œuvre. Entretien avec Didier Eribon et Geoffroy de Lagasnerie
On the occasion of the screening of La conscience politique, a portrait of Geoffroy de Lagasnerie directed by Léolo Victor-Pujebet, and the reissue of Didier Eribon’s biography of the renowned philosopher Michel Foucault, Pink Screens brings together these two major figures of contemporary thought for an extended conversation at Cinema Palace.
The discussion will begin with the fundamental question of the interplay between thought and life, particularly when those lives are queer lives. How does theoretical work take shape at the intersection of a personal journey, social experiences and a gay life? How can life nourish or embody thought? And, in turn, how can political, sociological or philosophical thinking radically transform a way of life, or even propose new ways of living?
This encounter builds on the questions raised by cinema when it goes beyond simply portraying lives or ideas and instead shows how thought takes shape through bodies, gestures and stories, making the screen a unique space for dialogue between work and existence. An encounter between art and life that echoes one of Foucault’s powerful final ideas, shortly before his death from AIDS, concerning the possibility of an “aesthetics of existence”: can we make each individual’s life into a work of art?
Didier Eribon is a sociologist and philosopher. He is the author of numerous works, including Réflexions sur la question gay, Retour à Reims and Michel Foucault, 1926-1984, a new edition of which has recently been published in Flammarion’s Champs collection.
Geoffroy de Lagasnerie is a sociologist and philosopher. His works include 3. Une aspiration au dehors. Éloge de l’amitié, Par delà le principe de répression. Dix leçons sur l’abolitionnisme pénal and L’âme noire de la démocratie. All three were published by Flammarion.

Layering extended lines of polyrhythmic thought that can only be properly understood in-the-flow – by bodies in motion – Lena Willikens can switch gears in the blink of an ear between upfront UK bass mutations, motorik offbeats, and nEuropean synth curios – all is welcome as long as it is twisted in a one-of-a-kind way, and no two sets are ever the same. Lena hosts 2 regular shows on NTS (Homunkuli, and Lightning Conductor), holds down a DJ residency at Düsseldorf’s free-spirited club/bar Salon Des Amateurs, and releases her own productions on Dekmantel Rec. More or less permanently traveling to clubs and festivals all around the globe (often in the fine company of her spiritual brethren-partner-fan Vladimir Ivkovic), the term “DJ royalty” just might have been coined for an artist such as Lena Willikens.

Exhibition | Perreología
José Miguel del Pozo (1985, Venezuela) presents 'Perreología' at Espace F.12, an exhibition arising from his fanzine 'Only Doguettes' (2020) and exploring our intention to spend all day looking at screens. Revealing a form of soft voyeurism, pixels of poor images appear in front of us to question these video surveillance images that are gradually becoming normalized.
A black-haired dog with curly fur licks herself on a rug. Queen Dembow, the dog, has a diva-like character, or so they say. When her owner is not at home, she is filmed non-stop by a camera installed in her living room, which broadcasts her images to her owner's mobile phone via the internet, and consequently to the world. Come and joins us for an exhibition on artist's publications, pixels, dogs and more!

Carnets d'artistes
This exhibition offers an immersion into the world of artists’ notebooks, bringing together historical and contemporary works. From the studio notebook to the most intimate visual diary, these objects reveal a space of creation where sketches, notes, fragments of text, collages and collected images intersect.
This exhibition offers an immersion into the world of artists’ notebooks, bringing together historical and contemporary works. From the studio notebook to the most intimate visual diary, these objects reveal a space of creation where sketches, notes, fragments of text, collages and collected images intersect.
Beyond their preparatory function, notebooks appear here as genuine spaces of self-narration. Whether historical or contemporary, they reveal how artists construct, page by page, a form of self-narrative in which the creative process, personal memory and observation of the world come together. Within these mobile and fragmentary surfaces, gestures, rhythms and temporalities specific to each artistic practice take shape.
The exhibition pays particular attention to notebooks that belong to distinct artistic practices. For certain artists, including Marianne Berenhaut, Sarah Kaliski and Steven Baelen, the notebook is not simply a preparatory tool, but a space of creation in its own right, where drawing, writing and the assemblage of images form works of art. The notebook thus becomes a singular artistic territory, where material experimentation and visual thought develop according to their own continuity.
Alongside these notebooks rooted in established practices, the exhibition will feature notebooks created especially for the occasion by artists from our wider personal and professional circles. Working on Saint-Martin Bookshop notebooks sent to them ahead by the bookshop, these newly created contributions will extend the reflection on the notebook as a living space of creation, bringing together different generations, sensibilities and ways of working.
By bringing together these diverse approaches, the exhibition highlights the notebook as an artistic form at the crossroads of the studio, the personal archive and the diary. It reveals itself here as an autonomous space, conducive to experimental, hybrid and deeply sensitive practices.

Tentative Tornade
Tentative Tornade is a performance by Maïa Chauvier and Jonathan De Neck, where poetry, music, song and spoken word come together in an intimate dialogue. Through fragments of stories and voices, the piece explores the contradictions of our time with sensitivity, hope and resilience.
Tentative Tornade is a creation by Maïa Chauvier and Jonathan De Neck, at the crossroads of poetry, music and spoken word. Together, they create an intimate and immersive performance where words and music engage in a powerful dialogue.
Poet, slam artist and actress Maïa Chauvier gives voice to deeply personal and socially engaged texts, accompanied by Jonathan De Neck on diatonic accordion, piano, percussion and vocals. Their performance weaves together poetry, songs and musical compositions into a rich tapestry of stories, memories and emotions.
Through fragments of lives, voices of resistance, love songs and reflections on today's world, Tentative Tornade explores the contradictions of our time without losing sight of hope. The result is a sensitive and evocative experience that invites audiences to listen, reflect and travel through a landscape of words and sound.

meet the author: katie kitamura
One of America’s most brilliant novelists, recently shortlisted for the Booker Prize and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, in an exclusive conversation in Brussels.
Katie Kitamura is an American journalist, writer and critic of Japanese origin. She holds a PhD in American literature, teaches creative writing at New York University and lives in Brooklyn with the writer Hari Kunzru (The Illusionist).
After the publication of her first two novels (The Longshot and Gone to the Forest), Kitamura’s international career took off in 2017 with A Separation, a fascinating psychological thriller set in the Peloponnese. It was followed by Intimacies, which delved into the mind of an interpreter at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. With her fifth novel, Audition – shortlisted for the Booker Prize, longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction, and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize – Kitamura has cemented her status as a leading American writer, admired by Barack Obama as well as by fellow writers Samantha Harvey, Hernan Diaz and Lauren Groff.
Audition
Audition opens in New York with a glimpse into the daily life of an accomplished actress. Married to a man she loves, she is enjoying a string of successful theatre productions. But a young stranger throws her life into turmoil when he announces that he is her son. Who are they to one another? It is with this question that Katie Kitamura, at the height of her artistry, sets in motion a game of deception. Blurring the lines between reality and performance, Audition is a multilayered book that questions the roles we all play, more or less consciously, in our lives. Readers are kept on their toes. Loosely inspired by Rosemary’s Baby, Audition is a brilliant, unsettling and fascinating book.
Don’t miss this unique chance to meet the American writer during her visit to Brussels.
About Audition
‘A lightning bolt of a novel.’
— Financial Times
‘Katie Kitamura is one of our most brilliant writers, saying far more in her silences, blank spaces, and disruptions than most novelists can say in a hundred thousand words. Audition is eerie, a book so cold it feels hot.’

about
Ettijahat – Independent Culture was founded in Syria in 2011 and has since become one of the most active organisations supporting Arab arts in exile. With legal status in Belgium (ASBL) and deep roots across the Arab cultural landscape, Ettijahat operates at the intersection of two worlds – embedded in the realities of cultural production in the Arab region and fluent in the institutional logics of the European sector.
For over a decade, Ettijahat has developed sustained programmes supporting artists working under conditions of displacement, precarity, and political constraint, through residencies, production grants, mobility support, advocacy, and the creation of transnational networks. Rawabet is the most ambitious expression of this commitment to date, bringing together partners across five European countries to support emerging artists through a full three-year development arc.
This dual anchoring – in Europe and the Arab world – shapes the organisation's approach. Ettijahat neither imports nor exports culture; it works at the point where the two landscapes meet, with all the tension and possibility that entails.

Flesh and Fewl
Étienne is a truck driver and a serious guy, not very talkative, totally dedicated to his job. He is gay, but only permits himself occasional one-night stands in car parks or woodland. When Étienne meets Bartosz, a Polish trucker, new emotions make an appearance. Crushed by the relentless time pressure of their work, the two lovers will need a thousand tricks to meet again. Alexis Manenti's dazzling charisma fuels a film that is all the stronger because it operates on two levels, both romantic and social. This harsh and precarious world makes the perfect setting for an absolutely believable love story.

Spaghetti Western
Spaghetti Western exposes the hypocrisy of contemporary neo-imperialist Western policies. The result is a satirical, epic-historical deconstruction of our (so called) postwar history.
“Just over half a century after the genre’s heyday, we feel it is time to make a new spaghetti western. At a moment when violence and aggression bombard us from all sides, while at the same time every blow in fiction seems to require a trigger warning, we want to scrutinize the hypocrisy of Western policy, the new imperialism, the (growing taboo around) violence, and the new (puritanical) morality that attempts to mask the West’s glaring lack of ethics, through a theatrical spaghetti western in 2026.” (Aurelie Di Marino)With Spaghetti Western, performers and theatre makers Aurelie Di Marino, Renée Goethijn, Femke Stallaert, Michiel Soete, Oscar Briou, Edoardo Ripani, Oxana Sankova, Atta Nasser, Nona Buhrs, Roel Faes, Paola Bartoletti, Yuni Mahieu, Giovanni Barcella, Kaat Arnaert, Tomas Pevenage, Anne-Catherine Kunz and Anthony Chang draw inspiration from the Italian film genre of the same name, the subversive counterpart to the classic American Western that reached its peak in the late 1960s.Amid dirty plates, empty bottles, and shattered glasses, a world of cowboys, outlaws, heroes, and antiheroes unfolds. Someone’s head is smashed in, just because. Christ’s cross is blasted apart, and from its fragments a duel emerges. Beginning with a prologue steeped in violence and cliché, Spaghetti Western exposes the hypocrisy of contemporary neo-imperialist Western policies. The result is a satirical, epic-historical deconstruction of our (so called) postwar history.

Spaghetti Western
A world of cowboys, outlaws, heroes, and anti-heroes opens up amidst dirty plates, empty bottles, and shattered glasses. Along with a Brussels-based cast of actors and theatre makers, Aurelie di Marino and Renée Goethijn take a close look at the Spaghetti Western. In a time when violence and aggression lash out at us, but every fictional blow asks for a trigger warning, they call out the hypocrisy of Western policy. Inspiration source: the Italian Spaghetti Western, the critical variant of the classic American Western.
A world of cowboys, outlaws, heroes, and anti-heroes opens up amidst dirty plates, empty bottles, and shattered glasses. Someone gets their head bashed in for no reason. Christ’s cross is shot to pieces, and a duel using the rubble ensues. Starting from a prologue full of violence and clichés, Spaghetti Western questions the hypocrisy of the new imperialist Western policy. A satirical and epic-historical deconstruction of our (so-called) post-war history. In this performance, the Wild West is not located in the 19th century, nor in the US. On the contrary. We find ourselves in the Wild West here, everywhere, and now. Images of violence can no longer be banished from daily life. Propaganda justifying Western policy within the geopolitical order is also omnipresent – to such an extent, in fact, that we are beginning to consider it normal. Meanwhile, polarization and unease are growing among the citizenry. With Spaghetti Western, the actors and theatre-makers Aurelie Di Marino, Renée Goethijn, Femke Stallaert, Michiel Soete, Oscar Briou, Edoardo Ripani, Oxana Sankova, Atta Nasser, Nona Buhrs, Roel Faes, Paola Bartoletti, Yuni Mahieu, Giovanni Barcella, Kaat Arnaert, Tomas Pevenage, and Anthony Chang draw inspiration from the Italian film genre of the same name, the critical variant of the classic American Western, that flourished in the late 1960s. • Aurelie Di Marino (b. 1986) is a theatre-maker and director. She studied Literary Studies at KU Leuven and obtained a Master in Directing at RITCS School of Arts in Brussels in 2013. In her work, she moves between theatre, performance, and research, developing a distinct artistic trajectory, both individually and within long-term collaborations and collectives. Her artistic practice is characterized by a strong interest in ideology, power, ethics, and collective mythology. She has performed as an actor and maker on stage and in exhibition contexts, and has been involved in productions at venues including Kaaitheater, Antigone, Beursschouwburg, theater arsenaal, detheatermaker, and Buda. From 2013 to 2022, she was one of the core members of Koekelberg Alliance of Crafters (K.A.K.), a collective that, via artistic occupations of public and abandoned spaces in Belgium and internationally, investigated self-organization, community, and artistic autonomy. Since 2022 she has been working on Malgré Tout, a multi-year chronicle of Western ‘civilization’ that premiered in Brussels in June 2025, a collaboration between Kaaitheater and Théâtre Varia. • Renée Goethijn (b. 1987, BE, she/her) studied in the makers' program at the RITCS School of Arts in Brussels. She explores the boundaries between theatre and visual art, creating visual, absurd performances in which the scenography often forms the core of the production. In doing so, she creates bizarre parallel realities that expose the principles and mechanisms that steer and determine our societal reality. Since her graduation, Renée’s artistic work has consisted of a continuous interplay between an individual trajectory, collective practices, and other collaborations. She founded Koekelberg Alliance of Crafters (K.A.K.) in 2014 with a number of other former RITCS students – a horizontal alliance of 16 theatre-makers, tinkerers, thinkers, and other charlatans in search of alternative forms of creation, presentation, and collectivity. With K.A.K. she has created Office de Tourisme/ Agence de Voyage (2016), Life, Death and Television (2018), Snøw (2019), The Unheard (2020). At Kunstenwerkplaats (KWP), she created 4 Women Getting Sick (2025), a co-production of Kaaitheater, Viernulvier, Antigone, C-takt/Beyond the black box, among other productions.

MAD Parcours 2026
From Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 November, MAD Brussels presents the third edition of MAD Parcours, the annual event opening up Brussels’ fashion and design scene to the public. Over three days, Brussels-based creatives take over the city centre, transforming the capital into a vibrant creative trail.
This third edition brings together a diverse range of Brussels-based creatives across studios, boutiques, concept stores, galleries, showrooms and other iconic local addresses. Throughout the parcours, participating venues will host encounters with creatives, collection presentations, launches, demonstrations of craftsmanship, installations, as well as a selection of pieces and objects to discover or (re)discover and, for those who wish, to take home. It is an opportunity to step inside places that may be less familiar, meet the people shaping Brussels’ creative scene, and discover creations, collections and objects that reflect the diversity of approaches and expertise found across the city.
To help visitors find their way, MAD Parcours offers several thematic routes, allowing everyone to explore the city according to their interests. Independent fashion, collectible design, contemporary jewellery, contemporary ceramics or new creative addresses: each route highlights a different facet of Brussels’ rich creative scene, while encouraging visitors to venture beyond the usual circuits and rediscover the independent businesses that form part of it. A printed map, available at MAD Brussels and at participating venues, allows everyone to freely create their own itinerary and explore the city at their own pace.
Conceived as a journey of discovery, MAD Parcours offers a different way of experiencing Brussels: by following the thread of its creativity. The event shines a light on both emerging talents and established creatives, celebrates independent businesses and venues, and invites visitors to discover a local scene renowned for its diversity, boldness and spirit of innovation.
This initiative is supported by Entreprendre Bruxelles, Local Guide and the Alderman for Economic Affairs.

Blending voice, guitar and electronic textures, the duo creates immersive performances that dissolve the boundaries between composition, improvisation and ambient music.
Valhalla is the artistic project of Karim Gharbi and Clément Nourry, born from more than twenty years of artistic collaboration. Rooted in a shared passion for songwriting, sound experimentation and long-form improvisation, the duo explores the space between composition and spontaneity, creating music that is constantly evolving.
Moving beyond the traditional roles of singer and guitarist, the two artists sculpt sound in real time using voice, guitar, helicon, MicroKorg, effects, loops and electronic textures. The result is an immersive performance where songs, ambient music and free improvisation merge into a unique sonic landscape.
Conceived as an experience rather than a conventional concert, Valhalla invites audiences into a contemplative world where unpredictability, freedom and discovery take centre stage. Each performance is an "eternal first time," shaped by the moment, the space and the encounter with the audience.

FOOD
This humorous spectacle isn’t your ordinary feast. FOOD invites you into an amusing and, at times, bizarre world of consumption. Fueled by our very own appetite for more. What begins as a simple act of eating gradually transforms into a maniacal, almost mechanical ritual. We watch as the boundaries between desire and necessity blur, giving rise to something grotesque, surprising, and disturbingly hypnotic. Through acrobatics and object manipulation, these witty circus performers create a vivid physical language. One that questions not just their own, but perhaps even our collective consumption habits – habits subtly shaped by desires that may not be entirely our own.

Antes de…
Between the foot and the step.Amid the breath and the word. That’s where curiosity encounters fear. Here, doubts, hesitations and decisions fill the void. This is where you move for the very first time. You dance, desirous, innocent and bold. What is going on, mentally and physically, right before a first time? A first step? A first word? What journey does an action take before it becomes reality? And can we map that invisible, but deeply moving, journey? In Antes de..., Compagnie Tea Tree finds their inner child, and ventures into the unknown. Acrobatics partners Sara Olmo and Pierre Viatour rely solely on each other. Hand in hand and foot to foot, they take turns leading the dance, show each other the way, and strike a path through unexplored territory. A poetic, playful and acrobatic performance for ages 2+.

LOUNGE
As a verb, ‘to lounge’ means to sit or lie down in a relaxed manner. As a noun, ‘a lounge’ signifies a public space for relaxation. Two bodies who identify as women move in a duet through states of active and passive rest. In the performance, they play with the notion of the Invisible Lapdance, which consists of small, almost imperceptible forms of dance that repeatedly blur the gaze between giver and receiver. The comfort of relaxation emerges as an active statement of femininity.
As a verb, ‘to lounge’ means to sit or lie down in a relaxed manner. As a noun, ‘a lounge’ signifies a public space where people can relax. ‘Lounge’ is therefore both an action and a place, a space that you can shape, inhabit, and enjoy. This dual nature of rest – of waiting, of moving and being moved – is central in this performance. LOUNGE is a duet for two bodies who identify as women. Together, they move through states of active and passive rest. In doing so, they make use of each other's presence to delve deeper into themselves and the atmosphere. The notion of the Invisible Lap Dance plays a role throughout the piece, consisting of small, quasi-imperceptible dances that make use of the gaze to blur the boundaries between giver and receiver. Leaning on eroticism and forms of togetherness, the comfort of relaxation emerges as an active statement of femininity. Marga Alfeirão (Lisbon, 1994) uses different media to create safe spaces in which intimacy and sexuality can be explored through dance and performance. Strongly influenced by dance genres and sound textures from the African diaspora that have permeated the social fabric of Lisbon, Alfeirão tries to actively lay claim to femininity, through which she creates space for feminine forms of sensuality and forms viewed from a feminine perspective. Lounge (2023) was awarded the [8:tension] Young Choreographers Award. In that same year, she premiered No Biggie Deal, a solo piece about Notorious B.I.G., the rapper from Brooklyn, stemming from the sensationalism and nostalgia that raised the question: was Biggie bisexual? Her first group work, no c o r a ç ã o dela, premiered last December with a team of eight artists, in Sophiensaele, Berlin.

Juliette & Roméo • William Shakespeare Eline Schumacher
Eline Schumacher transforms Shakespeare’s masterpiece into an explosive celebration, a pretext for the blossoming of a new folklore.
Following La Ville des zizis, which was staged here in 2022, Eline Schumacher continues her exploration of a joyful and generous form of theatre.
You go to a party, you get into a fight, you fall in love, you climb up her balcony, you make love, your best friend is killed, you take revenge, you have to flee, you find your love again, she’s dead, you kill yourself, she wasn’t really dead, but you were, so she dies, too bad. But legendary.
Some texts transcend theatre to become something resembling a passion, almost a belief. Such texts are no longer performed, but celebrated. And so Eline Schumacher transforms Shakespeare’s masterpiece into an explosive celebration, a pretext for the blossoming of a new folklore. This is about a discreet brotherhood devoted to Romeo and Juliet, a sign of absolute love for the classics that is shared as a collective ritual. Between scenes that are revived and reinvented, live music and a complicit audience, the play unfolds in a burst of energy. The performance takes the form of an immersive celebration where the auditorium and the stage vibrate together to honour love.
This performance features live music, including a brass band. Earplugs and hearing protection earmuffs are available in the foyers or at the reception desk.

VUB and KVS explore ghost memory and how memory and reality are shaped and reimagined from different perspectives.
What happens to stories that are not allowed to be told? To memories that are suppressed? Or to knowledge that has never been considered valuable? In this edition of Mindblowers, VUB and KVS bring together artists and researchers from Belgium and Latin America around the theme of ghost memory: stories, people and knowledge that have been forgotten, erased or pushed to the margins, yet have never completely disappeared.Through personal stories, artistic projects and academic research, the speakers explore what endures when people are forced to flee, when histories are forgotten, or when certain voices remain unheard. You will hear about Syrian journalists continuing their work in exile, a woman who was abducted as a baby during the Argentine dictatorship, forms of knowledge that have been pushed to the margins for generations, and artists imagining alternative narratives about the past and the future.Expect an evening of art, research and personal testimonies in which ghost memories take shape: things that seemed forgotten, yet never truly disappeared. With contributions by Claudix Vanesix, Claudia Poblete, Yazan Badran, Adriana Moreno Cely and Laura Vandewynckel. Speakers Yazan Badran is a lecturer and researcher at VUB. For Mindblowers, he draws on his research with Syrian journalists living in exile in Istanbul. Their story shows how knowledge, language and journalistic practices continue to exist when people are forced to leave their country. Through his research on media, politics and diasporic communities, he explores who is recognized as a legitimate knowledge holder and how stories, memories and experiences can cross borders without being lost.Adriana Moreno Cely is an activist, researcher and lecturer at VUB. During Mindblowers, she presents her lecture-performance PULPO. Using the octopus as a metaphor, she explores how colonial ideas about race, knowledge, progress and development continue to shape our societies today. Through storytelling, personal experience and critical reflection, she examines which forms of knowledge are recognized and which are systematically pushed to the margins.Laura Vandewynckel is a filmmaker, theatre maker and researcher. During Mindblowers, she draws on her project Let the Sea Take Away All Evil, set on the Brazilian island of Itaparica. Together with local artists and residents, she explores how hopes for change, progress and a better future take shape through stories, rituals and collective imagination. Her work examines how communities respond to social change and how stories help make sense of both the past and the future.PerformancesXenocene: A Manifesto in MotionClaudix Vanesix will share a lecture performance called Xenocene: A Manifesto in Motion."Xenocene" challenges human dominance over meaning by juxtaposing human “reality” with the "xenoreality" produced by an AI system. Is the world we perceive the only one that exists? Or merely one perspective among many, entangled in a post-human ontology where non-human intelligences also claim agency? ClaudiaClaudia by La Conquesta del Pol Sud is the second part of the trilogy exploring the relationship between history and identity through the story of Claudia Poblete.Claudia Victoria Poblete Hlaczik lives in Buenos Aires, works as an IT technician and is passionate about science fiction. Claudia leads a “normal” life, but behind this appearance lies an extraordinary life story. She grew up immersed in the values of a military environment, until, at the age of 21, she discovered that her biological parents were 'desaparecidos' (people who were secretly arrested, tortured and murdered under a military dictatorship) and that the life she had known was fabricated. Her case led to an important turning point in Argentina because it meant the beginning of the end of the military leadership’s impunity. Claudia’s life experience, which is communicated by herself on stage, is the primary material this theatrical documentary is based on. What do some individuals’ experiences have to do with us? What is the meaning of words like revolution, memory, and education today?
