Fancy terraces in Brussels

When the sun is out, Brussels’ terraces show us what they’re all about. They are discreet and confidential, they are trendy, they have a southern flair, they are cool next to the water, or they offer fantastic views of the city. A drink with colleagues, a brunch with friends, a romantic table for two... any reason to relax and spend these beautiful days on a terrace in Brussels is a good one. Bring your sunglasses!

Chalet Robinson

After a long history, Chalet Robinson has been restored to its former glory, and still welcomes plenty of families in an exceptional setting. Nestled on a lush green island in the heart of the Bois de la Cambre, this little paradise can be reached by boat. Part cosy chalet, part private island, the atmosphere is bucolic-chic. Sail over to enjoy a waffle, a pancake or a brunch packed with fresh fruit. To ensure customers can totally unwind, the establishment has even provided deckchairs. It’s the perfect place to relax in the fresh air, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Maison Louise, Louise Hotel MGallery

A veritable urban oasis, the sublime terrace of the Louise Hotel MGallery is the ideal place to recharge your batteries in the upper part of the city. Its tables and armchairs arranged around a Zen fountain invite you to relax. The uniquely designed flowerbeds offer intimate corners to gather among their pretty arabesques. On either side, olive trees mirror the restaurant’s southern inspiration and its sun-drenched menu. A genuine sunny interlude.

Le Grand Forestier

Sitting on the terrace at the Grand Forestier, is like sitting at a table in a country garden. The rustling of the nearby Sonian Forest and the gentle murmur of the Ten Reuken ponds accompany you. Facing south, green and spacious enough to provide privacy, this terrace has many advantages. Here you can enjoy high-quality brasserie cuisine: mushroom omelette, fish & chips, croquettes... But the signature dish remains the filet américain, invented, according to family legend, by Joseph Niels, ancestor of the founders of this century-old establishment.

Alice Restaurant & Cocktail Bar

The know-how and audacity of the new chefs have put Rouge Tomate on the right track! The place is now called Alice Restaurant & Cocktail Bar, but the "healthy" philosophy that has always guided the composition of the menu remains unchanged. Everything is in perfect harmony with the contemporary decoration of this superb mansion. And the restaurant’s main attraction is its impressive terrace, complete with a cocktail bar. Huge, green and partially covered, it's a wonderful place to meet for a drink or dinner.

The Dominican

The hotel’s name refers to the Dominican cloister that existed on this very spot in the 15th century. Traces of this religious past are still present in the structure of the Dominican. This elegant hotel has a serene atmosphere that invites you to meditate. Its contemporary decoration is designed to turn this place into an icon of the Brussels hotel scene. Its interior garden is a small haven of peace, where you can relax and enjoy your lunch, drink or dinner around its emblematic fig tree.

Brugmann

This French restaurant is housed in a beautiful mansion in the heart of the Brugmann neighbourhood. The interior layout is certainly worth a visit, but it is the sumptuous terrace that really stands out. Elegant, it opens onto the contemporary lines of Abbé Froidure Park, which was once the house's garden. Here, you can make yourself at home in a cosy outdoor environment that’s unique in Brussels.

Brighton Restaurant, Stanhope Hotel

With its quintessential British decor and a restaurant inspired by George IV's exuberant Royal Pavilion, 5-star hotel The Brighton is full of taste and surprises. Its terrace, nestled in the property's inner courtyard, is certainly one of them! Under the canopy of an opulent hundred-year-old magnolia tree, guests can enjoy a parade of fresh, vitamin-packed dishes (Vitello Tonnato, mille-feuille of brill with seaweed, cold melon and cucumber soup, etc.). This unexpected terrace is just a stone's throw from the European Quarter.

Colonel Fort Jaco

Elegant and rigorous, Colonel is an irreproachable address that sticks to tits principles. Adored by discerning carnivores and other high-quality meat enthusiasts, this establishment advocates ‘meat culture’, an enlightened approach focused on the origin and quality of its products. The menu features Chateaubriand with pepper sauce, Kobe beef, T-bone steak and sweetbreads. Its ivy-covered terrace is very pleasant and in keeping with the chic and peaceful atmosphere of the Fort Jaco neighbourhood.

Le Chalet de la Forêt

Rather than the rustic charm of a chalet, you will be entering an immaculate villa with beautiful Anglo-Norman-inspired details. Here, it's all about luxury, tranquillity and... gastronomy! Charming tables sit on the terrace among small box hedges and espalier trees. This green setting is beautifully complemented by the extraordinary biodiversity of the neighbouring vegetable garden. Right on the edge of the forest and close to this veritable garden of flavours, this terrace was voted the most beautiful terrace of 2020 by Gault et Millau.

La Villa Lorraine

Perched on the edge of the Bois de la Cambre, Villa Lorraine is an exquisite gastronomic destination headed by Michelin-starred chef Yves Mattagne. The menu at this legendary establishment features precise, refined cuisine prepared using exceptional ingredients. The ultra-lush terrace, with its harmonious black and white decor, welcomes you in the shade of its noble plane trees.

La Maison du Châtelain, Châtelain Brussels Hotel

Behind its ultra-contemporary facade, this boutique hotel is bursting with charm. Guests flock here to enjoy a cool drink in the unique setting that is its restaurant’s garden. Take a seat under the beautiful trellis, which sparkles with thousands of tiny lights as night falls. The atmosphere is very romantic, with a touch of Italian flair. This warmth is reflected in the menu, which offers a selection of dishes combining Belgian tradition with a nod to southern European cuisine.
