It’s raclette and fondue season in Brussels

14 noviembre 2025

Among the (sometimes guilty) pleasures of winter, raclette and fondue are an absolute must. But, in order to avoid the lingering cheese smell in your living room, having to clean the machine and, above all, the 3 weeks of cheese that you'll have left over, why not go out? Whether restaurants offer it all year round or just in winter, it's always possible to treat yourself to a hot, melted raclette or a comforting fondue in Brussels. You can choose the vegetarian variation or the full charcuterie option. So, grab your diary! While not mandatory, given their popularity, it's best to book a table at most of these places.

Les Fondus de la Raclette

First of all, the French pun in this establishment's name will have you melting right away! You can't help but fall in love with Les Fondus de la Raclette, with its Savoyard atmosphere - reminiscent of those typical mountain chalets - and its friendly, do-it-yourself approach where the grills are built into the tables allowing you to do the cooking. This concept, originally French, was successfully established in Brussels in 2007 on the charming Place de la Vieille Halle aux Blés, not far from the Manneken-Pis statue and the Grand-Place. Raclettes and fondues are served here in the evening, but also at lunchtime.

Secret Chalet

A chalet getaway in the heart of the mountains... without leaving Brussels (Grand-Place view included)! That’s what La Chaloupe d’Or offers with its Secret Chalet: a winter haven nestled on the 3rd floor of the renowned restaurant, available for private bookings only, for up to 20 people. On the agenda? One lunch service, two evening services, 7 days a week. The options? Traditional Swiss raclette or variations of fondue (three fine cheeses, morel mushrooms or black truffle) featuring the finest AOP produce.

With unlimited crusty bread, steaming fondue pots and an ultra-cosy atmosphere, it's the ultimate combo. And – to round the week off on a high – every Sunday they offer all-you-can-eat raclette. La Fruitière

No introduction needed: this place is a favourite among cheese lovers. But people often forget that, as well as shopping for gourmet treats, you can also sit down to enjoy raclette and fondue made with fine, mature cheeses aged on site. Special mention goes to the black garlic raclette and the half-and-half fondue, best enjoyed with a glass of natural wine. The perfect spot to enjoy a comforting and heart-warming winter treat.

Au Petit Suisse

Raclette and fondue were born in Switzerland, so the country is the benchmark for these winter dishes. Rather than travel across borders, head to Au Petit Suisse, with its guaranteed Swiss atmosphere in the heart of Uccle. The decor is made up of cow figurines, cuckoo clocks, barrels and alphorn players (also in figurine form!). Not to mention the Swiss flag bearing the white federal cross. It has everything you need to enjoy a delicious Swiss raclette in the finest Swiss tradition, with an all-you-can-eat formula and an impressive selection of fondues. What's more, all cheeses are Swiss A.O.C and the wine list even comprises a few Helvetic bottles!

L'ami Roger

The name says it all: here, you'll be treated like an old friend. Nestled a stone's throw from Bois de la Cambre, L'Ami Roger – self-proclaimed king of the fondue (what a claim!) – plays the card of gourmet simplicity with an all-you-can-eat fondue. Wood-panelled chalet-style décor, a garden terrace for mild evenings, and above all: endless cheese. It's a place to warm your heart and fill your belly.

Chalet Robinson

When you're sheltering from the cold in a chalet, how can you not succumb the call of a raclette? After your little boat trip to the chalet, immerse yourself in an authentic "après-ski" atmosphere. Chalet Robinson takes care of everything, with its raclette made with Bagnes, a prestigious traditional Swiss cheese. The rest of the week, indulge in a three-cheese fondue (Comté, Beaufort and Emmental). Enjoy it in a cosy, comforting atmosphere, whatever the season.

Le Plateau du Berger

"J'peux pas, j'ai raclette" (I can’t, I have a raclette), is a French expression that often serves as the best excuse during the winter months. It’s also what they call Thursday nights at Le Plateau du Berger. In short: Thursdays are a cheese extravaganza! On the menu: raclette and fondue. The former include potatoes, salad and organic and seasonal ingredients. The latter is a 50-50 of gruyère and vacherin fribourgeois. Private parties are possible on other days for groups of at least 12 people. New: you can now enjoy raclette for Sunday brunch!

Galerie Bortier

When it reopened at the end of 2024, the superb Galerie Bortier welcomed Sélections, a cheese bar created by Sœurs, Brussels' leading cheese shop. What could be more natural, then, than to organise all-you-can-eat raclette parties this winter, with a carefully selected range from Sélections: three cheeses (classic, smoked and wild garlic), potatoes and home-made marinated vegetables. And if you feel like it, you can add a grilled meat or vegetable option.
