The best scoops in the capital

Chez Gaston ice cream

Not a single spring or summer day goes by without us thinking about… ice cream. Sometimes on a cone, sometimes in a tub. Bring on those artisanal, natural and original flavours. We’ve put together a selection of some of our favourite Brussels spots.

La Gelateria Bargello

Under the trees of place de la Liberté, you can enjoy delicious artisanal ice cream flavours, made with ingredients such as Madagascan vanilla and Piedmont hazelnuts. Bargello is an extremely cosy spot that perfectly combines Brussels etiquette with Florentine expertise.

Frédéric Blondeel

Just a stone’s throw from Brussels’ Grand-Place, oriental flavours such as orange blossom, rose water, blackberry, mango and almond await. At Lebanese ice cream parlour Miska, taste the unique texture achieved by adding salep. This is the root of the wild orchid, which makes the ice cream exquisitely chewy and elastic.

Booza

We might have lost count, but restaurant guru Georges Baghdi Sar must already have around ten establishments. One of them is ice cream parlour Booza, where you can sample the delicious and authentic flavours that Syrian ice cream has to offer. You’ll also find all these flavours in the teas, lemonades, baklavas and pancakes on the menu.

Coudboul

Don’t wait for the sun to come out. You might just miss out on Coudboul’s unique, artisanal, super-creamy and deliciously fresh flavours. The ice cream is truly to die for. But you also have to try the biscuits (from Pinpin) and the coffee (from Parlor). And all of this, on one of the city’s most famous squares, in the Marolles.

Gaston

On the terrace of the very first Gaston, you can enjoy an ice cream with a view of the Anspach Fountain, an iconic reminder of the previously visible bend in the Senne river. Everything is homemade and uses fresh, high-quality ingredients – the cream comes straight from the Ardennes. The Gaston empire has expanded to other squares in the capital.
