A cup of your finest coffee please

coffee with a view

In addition to being the capital of beer, chocolate and chips, Brussels can now also call itself the 'capital of coffee'. With two bars in the World's 100 Best Coffee Shops, its own Brussels Coffee Week and a real Brussels Coffee Tour, the European capital is gradually becoming ‘Melbourne on the Senne”. The number of spots where you can find excellent espresso, ristretto, filter coffee (chemex, V60, AeroPress), cappuccino, latte or slow coffee is almost impossible to keep track of! One thing is clear: in Brussels, we’re mad about top-quality coffee. To go or to drink in!

Mok Coffee Brussels / Mok Studio

Coffee roaster Mok is known for its excellent coffee with pure, unique flavours crafted in ethical and seasonal ways. It has already earned the young company masses of awards at home and abroad. You can taste their offer at Mok Coffee Brussels, a cool bar with a great breakfast and lunch offer, and at Mok Studio, a super-hip listening bar.

Bouche / Lil'Bouche

With its high-quality range from home and abroad, perfect service from a team of coffee connoisseurs and a particularly pleasant and stylish interior, Bouche just might be Brussels’ coffee mecca. They also have a branch in the European Quarter. In Lil Bouche, take a trip around world of espresso coffee as you drink shots of the highest quality.

Parlor Coffee

Credit where credit is due. The term specialty coffee was introduced in Brussels by the people behind Parlor Coffee. Since then, these coffee pioneers have focused on online sales of their excellent range of home-roasted coffee, matcha and Japanese tea.

Wide Awake Coffee

This brand from Anderlecht can be found all over Brussels. The coffee – with names like Moon Safari, Easy Rider and Strawberry Fields – tastes as good as the beautifully labelled packets look. But be sure to visit the flagship store for a batch brew from the tap. If you’re in the Flagey district, pop into the Wide Awake Coffee espresso bar.

Winok

Winok sits on the stately avenue Louis Bertrand near Josaphat Park in Schaerbeek. You can drink a delicious cup of traditionally roasted coffee from their own roastery. They also offer great food and weekend brunch. The products are as local and organic as can be. And last but not least: catch the day’s last rays of sunshine as they flicker on the blissful terrace.

Addis Stories

Are you also a lover of soft, elegant, fruity coffee from the coffee country par excellence? Then Addis Stories is the place to be in the lower city of Brussels. And if you go there for the coffee, be sure to stick around for all the other scrumptious Ethiopian delicacies. The chai, the rolls, the injera, ... each and every one divine. Don't forget to take something from the shop home with you.

Corica

This coffee institute has been providing unique flavour and quality since 1902. Customers have been coming to drink a coffee at the bar for years. There you can choose from more than twenty brews. It's better to keep your laptop in your bag, because the old bar culture still applies here. Let yourself be guided by the expertise and have a chat with the other coffee drinkers.

Asian style

For a delicious matcha latte you can also go to these places. Be sure to check out the online offer at Parlor. If you really want to immerse yourself in the culture of the Sino-Japanese drink based on finely ground green tea leaves, head to Karma Matcha in Uccle for organic Japanese matcha served hot or cold. The super cosy Kage, on rue Antoine Dansaert, also explores all forms of organic matcha, including delicious matcha pastries. If you have sweet tooth, you should definitely pop into Virginia in Ixelles. There they have an excellent range of organic matcha with different versions of crème brûlée! Kafei was the first Asian coffee bar in Brussels and now has three branches in the capital. Akko Cafe is a Japanese coffee and tea house with a mini Japanese garden. For the Korean variant, you simply have to go to Ondo. Yao serves you the best from Taiwan. How about a Persian coffee? Then you must go to KooKoo. At Silk they combine the art of coffee with mixology and you can sip extraordinary cocktails.
