Maison Dandoy - Biscuits - Friandises

Do you always make sure you leave space for dessert and can't resist a sweet or savoury treat? Then you absolutely must try one of these addresses where you’ll find the best home-made and organic sweets in the capital. In Brussels, gourmet delicacies are an institution and the artisans below are proud ambassadors of this.

Chez Martha

You'll be welcomed with open arms at the charming Chez Martha, just a stone's throw from place Flagey. This patisserie makes it its mission to work as locally, ethically and sustainably as possible. Try their wide range of cookies. From the classics to the spiced cookie, vegan options or even the cookie of the moment, you'll be spoilt for choice. Follow your gut!

Mad Lab

In this culinary laboratory, opened by a former geologist, you'll find organic biscuits made from spent grain, a by-product of beer brewing. This not only allows the business to be part of the circular economy, but also to offer healthier savoury biscuits that are full of minerals and fibre and lower in carbohydrates. All packaged in a compostable bag in line with the creators' environmental and zero-waste approach.

Maison Dandoy

Founded in 1829, Maison Dandoy, is an institution. It has successfully retained its traditions and offers a wide range of specialities: speculoos, marzipan, pain à la grecque (a typical Brussels speciality) and gingerbread – it's impossible to choose! The brand has numerous shops in Brussels, but its shop on Rue au Beurre is the oldest (1858), so much so that Baudelaire was said to have been a regular customer during his stay in 1860.

Generous

In this artisan Brussels workshop, you'll find organic, gluten-free little treats packed with distinct flavours: authentic Belgian favourites like the famous speculoos, but also shortbread, cookies, petit beurre biscuits, granola, etc. At Generous, they've chosen to avoid refined sugar and wheat in favour of ingredients such as tapioca, buckwheat and potato starch. A different approach that cooks up delicious results!

Pipaillon

This organic brand offers jams, tapenades and chutneys made with seasonal fruits. What are this traditional preserve company's values? Quality, taste, simplicity and enjoyment. Not to mention a commitment to working with local producers who respect the land and employing workers with disabilities. They're a lovely gift for curious gourmets.

The biscuits of Nos Pilifs farm

La Ferme Nos Pilifs is tucked away in Neder-Over-Hembeek on the outer edge of the Brussels-Capital Region. A participant in the ecological and social transition, it has a very special attribute which gives it its charm: it employs 180 people, 140 of whom are disabled. The work is adapted to the skills of each individual. Among other activities, the farm runs an organic workshop and bakery where the teams produce a range of delicious organic and Fair-Trade home-made biscuits. Buying a bag of biscuits from the farm. means you'll be helping to support its activities and the development of its workers!
